T-Clock / Re: T-Clock 2.4.3 build 471 Display Properties throws error
« Last post by anandcoral on May 22, 2017, 03:46 AM »
So it seems MS (Creators Update) problem.

MS hasn't advised me to get Creators Update, and no error in 32 bit Win 10, same result as IainB.

Hi kalos,

I wanted something similar, i.e. a way to write short notes when I am on desktop (mostly) and viewing those notes in simple and quick manner, on my Android phone.

As said above by others, I found the below combination best for me.
1. ResophNotes http://www.resoph.co...phNotes/Welcome.html for desktop
2. Simplenote  https://simplenote.com/ for Andoid, also IOS.

Excerpt from the ResophNotes site,

Features

Simple and fast notes on Windows
Sync online with Simplenote
    Support proxy (require HTTPS protocol)
Access notes on iPhone and iPad through Simplenote app
Portable version suitable for flash drive
    (no modification on host computer)

Support Note as List Items
Simplenote premium required for viewing in Simplenote App
Global hot-key for creating new note
Global hot-key to restore window when minimized
Support “Markdown” (text-to-HTML conversion) with preview
Recognize HTTP and email address in note for redirect
Support “internal link” with [ and ] (wikilink)
Optional plain text file (.txt) per note as database
ResophNotes will automatically generate .txt files in the first sync

Complete keyboard control
Single Note Mode (F11)
Simplenote Pinned and Tag support
Restore deleted note(s), permanently delete note(s)

Totally FREE (Donations are welcome to help future development)

My requirement is solved and I am happy now. See if it can be helpful to you.

Bottom line -- let's remember that the best response to such posts is to politely point them to the license key page, and remind folks that they can always email me ([email protected]) for a license key if they have considered and decided not to donate.

My admiration for you has increased many folds, Mouser

What I really don't understand is why are government databases being run on consumer level Windows based software - surely a more secure system would be available by contracting out to Linux or other less targeted systems - the open source nature means it can be customised and hardened to make it work effectively and securely and at a fraction of the cost?

Many a times it seems people managing the Govt. computer database, information etc. are like common users instead of high level IT pros.

Living Room / Re: Looking for programming language
« Last post by anandcoral on May 04, 2017, 07:53 AM »
Hi kalos,

You remind me of one of my boss. He wanted similar things. In fact he felt I (programmer) was unnecessary as a project can be completed with drag and drop, download code / library etc. by anyone !

Well, I can tell how he proceeded with few of his men.

VB.Net was selected. Biggest merits :
1. Programmers available in thousands, nearly every student of Computers knows it.
2. Internet is full of code of VB.Net, Stack OverFlow, Code Project etc.
3. Lots of Libraries on it are available some even free.
4. You got the idea.

...

I do not know VB.Net, but the project is still not complete. Reason, he put cart before the horse.

My advise, first decide what you want to do, then look for the hammer. The same hammer can not be used to fix a broken old chair and a broken gold chain.

DC is full of programmer with extensive knowledge in VB.Net (yeah), Delphi, C++, Autohotkey, PHP, Java, you got the idea :)

I am looking for a video manager / viewer which will show 4 or more images from the video as thumbnail.

I want to glance at the directory full of videos of last few years and save or delete them without the need to run each and every one to see what it was for.

Any suggestion ?

Hi Contro,

You can try search and replace in text editor like Notepad++ to get what you want.

You can also try online line break http://textmechanic....dremove-line-breaks/, it has many text manipulation options.

There is another text manipulation website and may help you http://nimbletext.co...HowTo/ManipulateText

I use https://uptimerobot.com/ to get down information of important websites including DC  :)

It emailed me when DC was down and also when up,
"The monitor donationcoder.com (https://www.donationcoder.com/) is back UP (HTTP 200 - OK) (It was down for 16 hours, 46 minutes and 37 seconds)."

Living Room / AI Assistant is just selling gimmick
« Last post by anandcoral on February 03, 2017, 05:20 AM »
Every big software house is making an AI Assistant; Siri, Alexa, Cortana, Google Assistant etc.  As I understand, they answer or try to answer your queries. One has to speak and not type, his / her queries. So far so good.

Since most people walk with mobiles now, why I am not hearing them shouting or even whispering to their mobiles or laptops on a table ?

Everybody is typing with thumbs or fingers but none is talking. Everybody is searching Google, Bing etc. but none is asking for it. So I am wondering if all the hullabulla around these so called AI assistant is just selling gimmick and have no practical use !

I do not find myself comfortable in talking to a 'software' and maybe true for the rest.

Most of the my apps are made in Autohotkey and few in AutoIt.

I look for the feature of the app which I am going to develop and take up which I find "easier" for me. Nothing personal, just similar done previously or have a similar sample etc. makes my preference.

If you feel at home in AutoIt, it is OK. If you need to code some feature which you can not find in AutoIt, then you may have to look around.

Buy an alarm clock (physical) with most irritable and loud sound. Set time. Keep it as far as possible from you.

You will run to stop it before your wife gets up to get YOU.  :)

This is the best hardware solution IMHO. No software solution can match it. Your fat will vanish soon.

Can this app be restricted/tailored to be used only for any particular program?
Yes. That is the basic idea. I had to rush this app as I was unable to find spare time and 31 dec was closing fast. I haven't got time to complete the website. I will eventually complete the app as I mentioned in planned features.

Thanks for your appreciation, kilele.
