hint: seems to work well in IE but if the page has some moving images, try hitting the STOP button before trying to capture to stop any animations.

In order to help me test the major new object capture module of screenshot captor i have made a little standalone mini tool:

https://www.donation...com/Beta/MiniCap.exe

with it you can see how the new screenshot captor mode will work; to capture a scrolling window just select the window and hit ctrl+shift+leftmouseclick.

this new mode features some stuff people have been asking for for a while and i think it does represent a nicer solution than existing region/object copying methods, and is a lot more interactive.

however it does use some fancy mouse+keyboard hooks so please save any existing data on your computer before trying it since there is a small possibility it could hang your computer.

this represents a week or so of solid work. if successful this will be added to the next release of screenshot captor.

scrolling window capture is not perfect! (firefox doesnt work at all).
there is an advanced exception list for scrolling window capture: go to preferences in capture menu, and read instructions - you can use these for example to fix a problem where certain windows are capturing the scrollbar by accident.

im anxious to hear which programs it works on and which ones it doesnt.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: Using 'Custom' Cardstock or Paper size
« Last post by mouser on January 10, 2006, 12:48 PM »
looks like i need to add some way to specify custom paper size.  No worries, i don't mind adding support for this.

however i have a question:
in the first case, where you just have page size set to Letter.
if you print out a test page or two, what does the result look like?

someone pointed out to me that you probably are saying you bought individual 3x5 cards rather than sheets with cards.
in this case i think you should be able to simple put
 countvert: 1
 counthorz: 1

and spacings all 0
and offsets all 0

let me know if it works.

i meant to make a little diagram, but basically yes:

set label height and width of the index cards.
set count vert and horz to number of cards in each column and row.
offset x and y are the left and top MARGINS.
spacing is space bettween cards.

leave corner radius and page extent alone.

flipbook printer is designed for this - you can customize nearly any imaginable layout.
(ps. make sure you download the latest beta version posted in this section - it has special features designed for handling big books and multiple copies of books).

you configure your card stock from the appropriate tab, then print out a test page (shows you boundries) until you get it right, then give it a custom name (like IndexCards3x5) and click the save icon.

when you get it right, upload the config file here (find it in your flipbook printer cardstock subdirectory) and attach it to a post in this section so others can use it :)

let us know if you get it to work!

Screenshot Captor / Re: Problems with Images inserted to Word 2003

you can now set the default dpi for new images from the screenshot captor options, general tab.
you can also change the dpi of existing images from the "SpecialFx" menu (near bottom).

yes someone was just pointing out to me the problem that its going to go rancid..

also, what if you need to replace something? yuck.
also you'd have to keep the cdrom and hard drive out of the oil wouldnt you? so hard drive noice would not be cure (maybe the hard drive is sealed but id be cautious about that).

.. not only did we find that our AMD Athlon FX-55 and GeForce 6800 Ultra equipped system didn't short out when we filled the sealed shut PC case with cooking oil--but the non-conductive properties of the liquid coupled created a totally cool and quiet high-end PC, devoid of the noise pollution of fans.

page 2 has a nice full video.  from tom's hardware (thanks db for the pointer).

i happen to be a drag+drop fanatic - so you can rest assured that any drag and drop features possible will be implemented; i'm also a big fan of hierarchical menu structures, so i expect that to play a big role in this.  im hoping we can think up some unique functionality.

and let's not forget that asm skills come in very handy when debugging code produced by high level compilers, finding bottlenecks, optimization, etc.

both db and jibz here have found bugs in microsoft compilers by analyzing assembly produced.

assembly coders are a special breed.  it really does require an intricate mind to be good at it; like most programmers of my age i did my share back in the old days.  hard for new programmers to believe but there was a time not all that long ago where computer programming sections of bookstores were FILLED with assembler books for different architectures, 8080, 8088, z80, 68000, etc.

however i have long consider myself in the camp that thinks programming code should promote reuse, readability, modularity, etc.  and from that standpoint assembly should be made illegal ;)

just add a comment -
the author of Search (which is shareware), has also been very generous in making quite a few of his programming components for delphi and c++ builder freely available for others.  seems like a nice guy.

it should be extremely easy to have a little (autohotkey for example) script that when you press hotkey copies the selected text and opens up a specific search in an existing or newly launched browser window.

some extras suggested by your idea would be:
1) dont open in normal browser, use a special small popup browser.
2) present user with menu of sites to search.
3) extra stuff.

i like it, good idea. lots of room for extra features.

mailticker settings in options:
mailticker.png

change from 'hide' to something else to show it when there is new mail.
i should say i do not use the ticker - i like just having the try icon change to an animated bat and a little ding sound.

as with most windows apps you can hold control while you select to select multiple items,
or click first, then hold shift and click last to select a range.
or hit ctr+A to select all.
these things work in most windows app.

you can also do this also from thebat search window if you wanted to search for all messages that matches some criteria then select and delete.

one of the motivations for me in making a launch bar is saving the settings in a nice clear configuration file (which would make it easier to move around, backup, etc.).  the launch bar i currentl use (advanced launch bar) keeps all settings in the registry and i really dislike that.  so the dc one will definitely use a transportable config file.
