I had problems too so ended up using VMware.
So far it seems to be the same as Win8 without the hassle of bypassing the Metro screen.-wetsmellydog (October 01, 2014, 11:36 PM)

I installed a 32-bit copy in a 64-bit Windows 8.1 Hyper-V VM. From initial boot to desktop was just a bit over 5 minutes. While it runs just fine, I was rather disappointed that the sound card didn't work. Now I've learned to expect that out of a Linux distro ... But Windows on Windows???
