Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: CHS - Clip Text Font Size
« Last post by mouser on August 05, 2017, 04:32 AM »
When i hover on the quick paste menu the yellow box appears - how do i make that 400px wide and the height maybe 200px
Let me see if I can add options for quick pop-up box font sizes, etc.

Living Room / Cat version of the Blair Witch Project
« Last post by mouser on August 04, 2017, 05:20 AM »
My cat likes to play with stuffed mice toys.. But I have to buy dozens of them because they go missing.

Today I lifted up a sofa corner for the first time in months and I saw this scene straight out of the Blair Witch Project:
catmice1.jpg
catmice2.jpg

I think my cat is performing some kind of ritual to someone the god of mices..

I've used the free version but it may finally be time for me to fork out for the full version of File Locator Pro.

the "skip saving settings on shutdown" was already unticked
you could try ticking it.

i could try starting SC manually after windows has finished initiating - would this be worthwhile?

I'm not sure why there should be any problem reading the settings file if the drive is a local one, but if the problem is that the file is not accessible at startup, this might solve the problem.

Please do try that and see if it helps.  The other possibility -- if the settings are somehow corrupted during save at shutdown time -- you could try solving by unchecking the box labeled "skip saving settings on shutdown" on the first tab in options.
Again, this should not be happening, but while we are entertaining ways to identify what's going wrong, that might be worth a try.  I'd sure love to know what is actually going wrong.

The only reason I can imagine that would happen is if for some reason when SC is starting up it isn't finding or is failing to load it settings file.  Which I suppose could also happen if the settings file gets corrupted..
I am using the same OS as you (win7 x64) and have never had this happen.  Your documents/settings aren't on a network drive, right?

skajfes solution is definitely the best one for long term happiness.

Web Link Captor / Re: Latest Web Link Captor Release - v1.11.01 - Dec 17, 2013
« Last post by mouser on August 01, 2017, 06:37 PM »
It's been a while since I've used my own Weblink Captor -- I'm going to have to go back to it and get reacquainted with it before I can answer any questions about it..
3362
Had my first semi-failure with WinPosSaver, BUT I could see exactly why it went wrong.  The monitors took a LOOOONG time to wake up, and even my "backup" window position loader that triggers after 2 seconds was too soon, and the OS did it's scrambling after..

So the solution is probably to tweak the code so that it runs not just a single "backup" restore of positions, but maybe a series of them (100ms, 1s, 2s,3s,4s)... There isn't much harm in restoring windows positions several seconds after wake up.. Though it might be nice if we could reliably find a way to detect when the human was actually starting to work at the pc or when windows had scrambled stuff and only do it then, just in the off chance that a human tries to move windows around in the few seconds after the monitors wake up and you didn't want to undo that.

Not really. /word1.{25}word2/ if your distance is 25 bytes.

You also need to handle word2 before word1 -- and the situation where these words are literals that need regex escaping; plus a case where you might have more than 2 words (terms).

FileLocator Pro is an excellent tool (as is it's freeware little buddy, Agent Ransack, and i see there is another lite version) -- thanks for reminding me to check it out.
3364
I thought about using a regex, but it seems pretty painful way to do what i want.

I suppose one workaround might be a little tool that would let you specify 2 (or more) literal strings, and a distance value, and generate for you the regex search that will search for occurences of these literal strings within that distance (in any order).
3365
It occurred to me that often during searching I am looking for some text X that is "near to" some text Y, and I don't know of a tool that can do that..
Where "near" is some configurable distance in bytes.

Does anyone know of such a multi-file search tool with this feature?

When you say it was "cleaned up" -- can you elaborate -- it still sounds like there was a bug in the program I need to fix.
And if you are saying this option was empty -- please make sure that all your options haven't been cleared, which would indicate your settings file is corrupt.

Also, can you check the option in "Quick Bar and Post Cap" under "Copy button:" and see what you have set?   It may be that one of the non-default options for that is not working right..

Works here.. What operating system are you using?
If you exit SC and restart it -- same problem?

ps.
Installing latest build on top of previous one is completely fine -- that's the way you are supposed to do it.

Oops, locking this topic. I thought I remembered something..
3370
Do we not have a thread for this already?  I just got a new cell phone after 5 years or so, and I'm curious to hear what apps people like best.

3rd day in a row, working perfectly.

3372
Sorry I've been wrapped up in other projects.. But I will try to get it done this weekend.

I've also added command line options
-load <filename> -save <filename> -sleep -help -exit

Nice!!

Maybe the menu should say "Put monitors to sleep" then, not just "sleep".

I am absolutely giddy to have a fix for my window scrambling problem..  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
