you might want to give powerdvd a try carol.  i've had nothing but bad luck with windvd, but powerdvd behaves very well for me.  but on the other hand if windvd is working for you i guess there is no need to change.

i agree, the closed nature of apple products has been something they have stuck with and been extremely reluctant to let go of, from their early mac's to their ipods with non-changeable batteries.

i'm a long time mac hater but i try not to let it show too bad - and that's a great video.

the cult of personality stuff and the focus on marketing is just too much for me.  a one button round mouse? sorry that's all i need to know to know it's not the company for me.

i know a lot of programmers who like os X.  i personally like the idea of it, and i'm very impressed with it, but find all the focus on movie-style fancy graphics way over the top.

nice tips robert, thanks.

Another disadvantage with software like this is when you type a password and anyone in earshot can pick it up...
hahaha.

i have to say that this is exactly the kind of task i would avoid autohotkey for - i'd want a nice fast compiled app.

i know i have to be one of the only people on the planet to choose realplayer, but for so many years they were *the* company that made possible streamling audio and video from cspan and "this american life", and they've always done right by me, so i love them for that.

no one should leave the ads on just to help the site make money if they don't "enjoy" seeing them - as carol said unless you click on them occasionally we make no money, and there is no point just clicking ads like mad trying to help us make money - google has weird rules and weird systems designed to detect this kind of thing and punish sites when people do.

by default as soon as you activate a charter account your preferences should change to show ads only 5% of the time at random, which you should just change to 0 if/when you are sure you don't want to see them (yes believe it or not some people like seeing the ads in the forum posts - they are often content relevant on longer threads, and amusingly off topic on the shorter newer ones). ;)

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: miscelaneous cd labels for inkjet printers
« Last post by mouser on January 18, 2006, 09:19 AM »
thanks for the info and links patteo -
i have heard about superfast spinning of dvd discs but not about cds.. but i guess if you are reading the cd in a computer at highest speed then it could be an issue..

i still use labels when i make an audio cd for a friend but i don't use them on my own anymore, just use a pen.

carol, its just a small set of 10 cards and 10 envelopes, probably not worth the postage..

it really should capture opera and firefox - i'm going to have to test it again.

line width text boxes im going to try to look into, along with another requested feature for textboxes, the ability to have the transparency only affect background color not text or border.

i'm probably not the only one who has stuff that's just sitting around and will never get used; might as well give it away.

pack1: mostly glossy NEATO brand cd inserts and cd labels
pack2: mostly glossy NEATO brand cd inserts and cd labels
pack3: hp glossy greeting card paper (envelopes and cards) + some kodak inkjet photo paper

first charter/honoary member responder for each will get it, but United States only please, due to shipping costs.
these are nothing special but better they go to someone who might use them..

new version uploaded which does this and also fixes cover page issues; let me know if it solves your problems.

i was thinking actually it might be useful to have an option to tell it to repeat the last frame for X number of pages (and/or the back page) - anyone think this would be useful?

that seems like a good idea - always insist on first and last and then interpolate the rest. makes sense. let me see what i can do.

ill check into the cover page image - sounds like maybe the program is grabbing the cover frame image before taking into account the starting frame setting.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: Cover Page Image
« Last post by mouser on January 17, 2006, 02:03 PM »
just doubel checked here - when setting to use first frame as cover, for me its using the start frame not the first frame of the movie.  maybe you juse need to re-preview after setting start frame?

regardless, i've uploaded now version 1.05.02 which never puts page numbers on first page, which i think makes sense (though i wouldn't be too surprised if someone else comes back and says they need page number 1 on first page, in which case i'll make it an option).

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: Cover Page Image

it should be using the first selected frame as the cover, and maybe an option to not number the first page would be a good option..  let me see if i can't add those right now while i'm still in flipbook printer programming mode.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: Preview
« Last post by mouser on January 17, 2006, 01:33 PM »
ah that makes sense!
the new "stacked printing" option basically it makes it so that sequential pages end up being printed on top of each other when you stack the sheets to cut them out - makes it easier to assemble a final book.  easiest way to see the effect is to make sure page numbering is on, and then you can see how the pages get laid out.  for big books it can make a huge difference when it comes time to assembling.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: Preview
« Last post by mouser on January 17, 2006, 12:49 PM »
the page you see when you click preview is not a composite, it's the first page.
you can preview the rest of the pages, one at a time, by adjusting the "view page" setting, which determines which page you are currently previewing.

does that answer your question?

flipbook printer used to use a more intuitive way of showing all the pages as a thumbnail list but it really wasn't appropriate for big jobs.  the new method is a bit more cumbersome to work with but is much much faster and scales up to bigger projects better.
