Skwire Empire / Re: SFV Ninja (Simple File Verification application)
« Last post by skwire on April 06, 2011, 05:42 PM »
Update:  I have the application working with MD5 and SHA-1 hashes.  I just need to write the file loading and saving routines (easy stuff) and it should be done.

I did want to get some input on how to handle the three different types of hashes.  Even though it's easy to differentiate between the different hashes due to their checksum length, I'd like to stay away from any sort of fuzzy logic stuff that would attempt guess at which type of hash is being called for.  The reason for this is that I don't want to encourage mixed hash types in the list.  Does this make sense?  So, with that being said, I was thinking three new "mode" buttons on the toolbar; one each for crc32 (SFV), md5 and sha-1 modes.  The user will need to set one of the three modes before attempting to load and/or check files.  Does this sound like a reasonable solution?  If not, feel free to suggest something else.

As i am on a laptop there is no light indicator so I didnt realize what the problem was

You may find an app I developed, called kLED, useful:

@jtdc:  Please let me know if the new option functions as you envisioned.  Thanks.

v1.0.5 - 2011-04-05
+ Added "Skip files larger than approximate size" option.  (Thanks, jtdc)

v1.0.4 - 2011-04-05
! Uploaded a new binary since the previous one was of a debug build.
3333
I've added this request to my ToDo.  Thanks for the feedback.
3334
Yes, but it should list all the skipped files so that one can process them manually.

Would a text file report (of filepaths) be sufficient?
3335
If I understand you, you want something like:

[ ] Skip files larger than the set approximate size

Right?
3336
Please redownload and try the new build.  Sorry about that and thanks for reporting it.  Rather embarrassing on my part.    :-[
3337
This behavior can't be right.

Definitely.  I must've compiled and uploaded the debug build when I attempted to add 7z support.  I'll fix it here in a minute.

Also, i noticed that if any file is larger than the size limit set than the final zip file goes over the set limit.
if spinzip had an option that would allow it to skip such files and list them, spinzip could be be used more effectively for checking files on virustotal. Usually the large files are compressed files.

Right...as mentioned previously, SpinZip does no sort of file sizing voodoo to try and make exact sized zips, hence, the word "approximate."   ;D

That's a good idea; I'll add it to the ToDo.  Thanks for the feedback.

Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app)
« Last post by skwire on April 05, 2011, 09:26 AM »
That's the result of sWeather not having an internet connection.  I really ought to clean it up a bit or notify the user in some way.  When you come out of hibernation and see that, does it work properly when you click the refresh button/glyph (or use the tray menu to refresh)?

Here you go skwire, I asked them if we could use the feeds in your sWeather application, let me know if you want me to forward you the email.

This would be a private custom version just for you since that sites's RSS feeds are COMPLETELY different from Yahoo's.  In other words, I don't want to have to redo the entire sWeather interface to support multiple sites.  Hahaha...is it possible to hack one's own program?   ;D

Anyway, post or PM your location ID or town code/name that you use for that site.   :)

I'm out of luck?

Not necessarily.  Let me do some research and see what it will take to add MD5 support.

So I've to ask is it planned to add support for md5 anytime in the future?

Honestly, I hadn't planned on it.   :-[  I'm going to assume that you use .MD5 files instead of .SFV?

rgdot, I have tried but I can't reproduce the issue you're having.  Any other users of Anuran having the same issue as rgdot?

v1.0.31 - 2011-04-02
+ Added an option to disable the default Ctrl-A behaviour in an Edit
control.  Setting this option means that Ctrl-A no longer will select all
text in the control.  However, this option can be beneficial for
non-English keyboards that rely on Ctrl-A for certain accented characters.

Hmm, localised versions perhaps? http://www.weatherzone.com.au/

From the ToS on their RSS feeds:

The feeds must not be used for any other purpose (including widgets and
other applications) without the express permission of Weatherzone.

i cant use your soft because i use letters with the " ` "..

Which combination can you use?  Or, like I mentioned, I can make this a simple popup menu.

Try this:  http://skwire.dcmembers.com/apps/snacks/UrielAccents.zip

Run the UrielAccents.exe and type the following hotstrings to get your accented characters.  The first character is a backtick, not an apostrophe.  The backtick key is to the left of the "1" key on an English keyboard.
  • `a for á
  • `i for í
  • `o for ó
  • `u for ú
  • `A for Á
  • `I for Í
  • `O for Ó
  • `U for Ú

If you'd rather have a quick, popup menu to choose from instead, I can do that, too.

sWeather will refresh each hour after it starts.  Yahoo! usually update their weather feeds around five minutes to the hour.  So, your refresh was probably before Yahoo! updated their feeds.  In other words, doing a manual refresh within sWeather does not force Yahoo! to update their weather information.  Does that make sense?

Actually, that expanded view isn't supposed to have anything in its statusbar.  I'll fix it.
