Well of course I'd have revised my brilliant plan over the years... And dangit-all! When I updated Adobe PDF Maker/Microsoft Word it saved it in a new format that changed the hash! And when I opened the file on Linux it changed the line endings, too!

But I swear it was all in the document I hashed 5 years ago! Promise!

I'm not ready to put my life in their hands.  Either as the passenger, or another driver on the streets.

But you're already doing that as another driver on the streets, since these vehicles are out there, and have been for years.

But the hash still proves nothing about the document other than that it existed. I could make a blank txt file called SuperGeniusIdea.txt and put the hash in the blockchain and then when I want to sue Apple for bajillions for infringing on my patent, I could just point to that hash and say, "SEE! I hashed my document on the blockchain years ago!"

So I still don't see the point in this service.

Anyone want to have me over? :3

Sure, but just once. :P

I don't get it. Why would anyone need to proof they have a file? I can create just about any file I want on my computer. Just because it exists doesn't mean it's of any use.

EDIT: Reading comprehension FTW. Okay, so it's not about just proving that it exists, but that it DID exist at some point in the past. But still... How is that useful? Maybe for copyright/patent claims? I can prove that I had a file with the idea 5 years ago? But I could just make a bunch of documents and name them secretidea1.txt secretidea2.txt supercoolprogram.exe and timestamp them, and then when someone has a real cool idea/program I can claim I came up with them years ago and point to secretidea1.txt as "proof"

I still don't get the use for this service.

I would stay with Google Navigation, but unfortunately it speaks very fast and without any gap between words, so it makes it hard to understand

Also, it doesn't mention which side of the road to stay when you approach a division of the road and it doesn't repeat enough times where to turn, before you do the actual turn.

I don't know if it makes a difference if you're in a non-USA country, but my experience with navigation using Google Maps on my Android device(s) has been that it speaks clearly with one exception, and that it does tell me which side of the road/which lane to use, and I have found the warnings/reminders of when to turn to be adequate.

The one exception in the speaking is when there is a road (usually a highway) with several different names. Like US Hwy 301/Lassiter Junction/Hwy 309. (I totally made that example up.) It will speak all those names/words/numbers really quickly.

Google has been testing driverless cars for years. On real streets. In real traffic.  As far as I know, there have been no accidents/collisions.

(Though the law requires a human in the vehicle, behind the wheel in case anything goes wrong.)

http://en.wikipedia....oogle_driverless_car

There have been incidents.  And though they state that they were not the fault of the car.. what else would you expect them to say when there is doubt?

Two incidents. Once when the car was being driven manually and another when another driver rear-ended the driverless car. Of the two, one (being rear-ended) is clearly not the fault of the driverless car. The first one could be a cover up, but I doubt it.

In which case I still stand by my original statement of there being no accidents/collisions. I didn't think I needed to say it, but apparently I need to clarify that I meant no accidents/collisions where the driverless car was at fault.

I think the driverless cars have more to "fear" from other drivers/humans than we have to fear of them.

But I don't think it would be quite suitable for NANY. It really is designed purely for Coding Snacks.

I agree.

Eels - Things the Grandchildren Should Know
- Very few artists write songs that have the same impact as a good Eels song do. Live version.

interesting lyrics there...
dont know a lot of Eels music (apart from the classic Novocaine For The Soul), came across this one lately - nice song with an entertaining video:

I watched the video and wondered what was so entertaining about it... I found it amusing with the dog being all dressed up and stuff, but not especially entertaining. Until the end. Heh heh. Now I see what you were talking about. ;D

Recent news articles claiming that Dropbox was hacked aren’t true. Your stuff is safe. The usernames and passwords referenced in these articles were stolen from unrelated services, not Dropbox. Attackers then used these stolen credentials to try to log in to sites across the internet, including Dropbox. We have measures in place to detect suspicious login activity and we automatically reset passwords when it happens.

Attacks like these are one of the reasons why we strongly encourage users not to reuse passwords across services. For an added layer of security, we always recommend enabling 2 step verification on your account.

Update: 10/14/2014 12:30am PT

A subsequent list of usernames and passwords has been posted online. We’ve checked and these are not associated with Dropbox accounts.

I've got a dedicated server running now, which is available only for members of the DonationCoder group on Steam.

It's called something like DC: Survival. Join if you'd like.

Deo is just too damn good at this...Building all these things...and then there is me, floating around like "wut?"

What did I build? O_o

I hope you're not talking about that awful little mining spaceship. If you realized how long it took me to make it you wouldn't be in so much awe. I built it and took it apart and accidentally destroyed it and remade it several times while figuring out how the parts interact. It (my construction) is pretty lame. And time consuming!

I wish you could design something as a "3d hologram" and then start the actual construction afterward, rather than having to physically make the pieces as you design the ship.

I was trying to capture a screenshot of a huge asteroid drilling machine that I built to mine an entire asteroid at once, and I accidentally pressed the "record a video" button. Oops! But 2.5 GB later, I decided to upload it to YouTube to show it off to a couple of people.

I'll probably delete it later, but for now, anyone interested can watch it.

Please note that this video isn't catchy or interesting if you have no idea about how the game works. I didn't intend to record it, so I was just messing around. I wasn't trying to impress or show off cool things. I was just exploring options and trying to figure out how things work.

Hi Folks,

Space Engineers had a free trial this weekend and it turns out it's pretty fun even though it's an Early Access game. I'm organizing a 4-pack purchase. I already have 3, so we just need one more to join us. It's currently on sale for about the next 16 hours, so we're hoping to get it purchased before then.

Any takers? Taken!

Hi folks,

I tend to have a few Windows Explorer windows open at any given time, and I have configured Windows to re-open any Explorer windows again after a reboot. One issue I see sometimes is that occasionally a window or two (or three) will open up after a reboot without showing the path or address bar. It doesn't happen every time, and when it does happen, it doesn't happen to all the Explorer windows that get opened up. Just one or two every now and then.

The only "solution" I've found isn't really a solution at all: I have to close the window and open a new one. Any new Explorer windows opened up will show the path and search areas as they should.

Disappearing Path.jpg

Any tips on what the problem is and how to prevent it from happening again? I've never heard of it happening to anyone else, with the exception of the only relevant search result I came across:

Missing navigation path in windows explorer after booting of Windows 7

Sadly, there was no working solution there.

Any tips, suggestions, or solutions would be very much appreciated.

That would be fun... Except I am not good at art, and I don't have the kind of things I'd need. Like a fully rigged/animated 3D model of Cody & Baby Cody. Or fully animated sprite sheets of Cody & Baby Cody.

And it's hard to have those in advance when you don't know the theme, and thus don't know what kind of game you'll end up making until it's time to make it.

N.A.N.Y. 2015 / Re: NANY Q&A about what software can be submitted
« Last post by Deozaan on October 08, 2014, 04:30 PM »
Yeah, that's a hard one. I've released a couple of things this year. But I've already announced them here.

I'd feel kind of as if it was cheating to claim those as my submissions to NANY 2015.

Then again, there's another Ludum Dare coming up in December which I'm planning to participate in. That's close enough that perhaps I could combine LD31 with a NANY 2015 release. Though honestly I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about that idea, either.
