When i got there i noticed that the author of dvd-lab (powerful dvd authoring app) has a bunch of nice looking freeware:

this looks like a lite version of the very nice and powerful (but not cheap) UltraMon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/).

ah you found a renamer that lets you edit file lilst with text editor!!

we were wondering if such a thing existed at some point (maybe on coding snacks section?)...

that's a great find and could really come in handy in some tricky cases.  downloading..

can i make strong request that part of this review involve formulating some attempt to describe what the "ideal" hierarhical note tool would look like, as with my new codebase i've been working hard on, i want to give this category a real try.  the keynote2 disucssions may be a good starting point.  but it would be useful to have a kind of prioritized blueprint..

i could not agree more with your assessment that this category needs a different approach - the approach you say sounds right to me - though this is actually a direction we are moving torwards in our normal reviews i should point out.

in fact it may be even impossible to do a "if this is what your trying to do, this is the best", and it may just be more sensible to try to do a good comprehensive review where each program is basically taken on its own merits, with a BIG table of features to compare so people can see which ones have the features they want.

with at the end maybe a round up of "favorites".

we could try something unusual like:
ok what if we broke it up into like 3 stages:
stage 1 - identify good apps in this general category
stage 2 - start building the feature table
stage 3 - write some basic text about these kinds of tools, etc
stage 4 - get a bunch of people who use these tools to write a couple paragraphs on which is their favorite tool and why.

just an idea..

btw.. this may come as a bit of a shock but after working for weeks(months?) on this new hierarchical codebase ive been working on, i think there is a very very high chance that chs will be completely rewritten mostly from scratch..

Submit your feature request and/or project to [...].  Specify that you are requesting a "Pay for Feature Service" in your email.  HiComponents will review your request to determine if it is possible to add the feature to ImageEn/IEvolution.  We will return an email to you if we have accepted your feature request. 

Pay for your feature only if HiComponents has contacted you approving your project submission.

Notes:
- We emit regular invoice for this service.
- All features will be shared with other users.

That part at the end is the nice idea.. basically you will be "funding" the creation of a feature you need, and presumably pay a lot less for it since it will be shared with others and improve the product in general.  Nice idea i think.
