official advisory: http://www.microsoft...dvisory/default.mspx

Microsoft Confirms 'Highly Critical' IE Hole
Microsoft plans to release a pre-patch advisory with workarounds for a "highly critical" vulnerability that could put millions of Internet Explorer users at the mercy of malicious hackers.
Secunia said in an alert that the vulnerability is due to an error in the processing of the "createTextRange()" method call applied on a radio button control.
"This can be exploited by a malicious Web site to corrupt memory in a way that allows the program flow to be redirected to the heap," Secunia said in the alert, warning that successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code whenever the target visits the rigged Web site.

at the bottom of every forum thread, and at the left sidebar of every website page you will now see a link saying "Social bookmark this page". right below the translation flag buttons.

click this link to go to the socializer website (http://ekstreme.com/socializer/) preloaded with the link to the page, where you can easily add the url to digg, delcious, shadows, and many more.

this is a great way to let others know you like a program, page, review, or forum thread - please use it liberally to let people know about donationcoder.com when you see something you like!

Developer's Corner / rapid protoyping of games - nice article
« Last post by mouser on March 23, 2006, 04:07 PM »
really nice article on rapidly prototyping games

http://www.gamasutra...1026/gabler_01.shtml

As the project progressed, we were amazed and thrilled with the onslaught of web traffic, with the attention from gaming magazines, and with industry professionals and academics all asking the same questions, "How are you making these games so quickly?" and "How can we do it too?"

it's not just that freer is not always better, but also: more powerful does not mean better.
you have to decide how much time you want to spend customizing and learning, tweaking, etc.  or how much you want something to work out of the box and make it easy to use.  these are not insignificant issues and the best way to decide is to try out the different programs and figure out which one meets your needs best.

ok i'm going to try to fix this now - it's a bit tricky since the problem doesn't happen for me.

does anyone out there have the problem still (or can make it come back) who can help me test new versions to help figure out when i fix it? (if you can meet in irc channel even better! #donationcoder on efnet).

We're going to do a kernel upgrade for the server today - shouldn't result in more than a few minutes of downtime.
if you can't connect to the server for a bit, now you know why.

ps.
sorry i haven't been posting as much lately - ive been working my heart out on the new micro-donation system (DonationCredits) from morning to night each day.

remember you can always join our chat channel to talk (#donationcoder on efnet):

(if you join the chat channel i'll give you access to the test board so you can get a sneak peek at donationcredits test board).

thanks for the reports.

ok, clearly i messed something up with license key for last version, though i can't for the life of me figure out what i did - i really didn't touch that part of the program..  ill try to have a new version out in the next couple of days.  i've spend the last 2 weeks working on donationcredits and new forum stuff every waking hour that's why i havent addressed this yet.

regarding smarter about when app is still running in the tray, you are very right. i need to add that to the setup program.
