ProcessTamer / Re: Config always says Tray prog isn't running.
« Last post by mouser on April 01, 2006, 09:23 PM »
i think the first thing to figure out is whether the main process tamer tray util works.
so just start it and then run the cpueater test, and watch to see if the process tamer tray icon changes and says its taming it.

that will give us a starting point.

just a friendly reminder:

this forum has a wide spectrum of members, from kids to adults, with wide ranging views.
and some of us surf from work, etc.

so if you post a link to material that is sexually suggestive, etc., please make a note of that in your post so those concerned with such things can avoid clicking on them.

[this is in reference to zaine's post above to his infamous graphics review which has some pictures which may not be to everyone's taste].

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Image Metadata Enhancer/Saver
« Last post by mouser on April 01, 2006, 01:27 AM »
this idea has come up before..
there are tools for saving notes with files.
and there are tools that can auto detect when a new file is created in a certain directory.

i'd love to see someone prepare a list or even a full review of such programs.

patteo makes an interesting point - the review should mention the extent of commandline support of each renamer.

Better File Rename
http://www.publicspa...ws/BetterFileRename/

(basically its a context menu extension, but quite good and very easy to use which makes it a good chioce much of the time)

great point.
any active coder will tell you that most programs create their own 10% todo list each year, so it's very rare that a program ever gets to (or at least stays) 100% complete.

the help needs updating, but basically there is a tab on options for "red box" capture mode;
it triggers by default when you do a windows object capture.

#1 is a good idea, i will put it on todo list
#2 again i agree and others have brought this up, it's on the todo list, but near the bottom :(
#3 there are actually 2 region capture modes - the redbox one does allow you to adjust your region before capturing (make sure you have redbox mode option for capturing regions); however i always encourage people to just capture the entire screen and crop later.

"Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one's thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world." -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

let me give you my 80/20 version of this that i have learned from my own personal experience and that of watching other programmers:

coming up with a 80% good idea is easy and implementing 80% of the the idea is easy

but that last 20 and 20 can be incredibly mind-numbingly hard.

« Last post by mouser on March 31, 2006, 03:52 AM »
i found this while looking for something dead simple to let me upload pictures and show them without needing to do any configuration at all; it simply reads files in a directory and shows them;  add more files and there they appear automatically.
works well and free.

So how does this work again?

you don't have to post on this thread - basically just make sure you got the email from us saying you won, and that you reply to it saying yes you want your prize.

then you just wait a few days until you are sent the info about downloading/registering/activating, etc.
