Movies with Sean Connery are practically all in the same league as the Clint Eastwood movies. 'In the Name Of The Rose' is a great movie from S.C.

4wd: default Collusion settings under 'filters' is "show cookie-based connections" and "show non-cookie-based connections" both enabled - for me, that shows a node for every site I've visited (and 3rd party sites those sites have pulled resources from...) - the only edge at the moment is DoCo<>PayPal, though.

Always have had those options enabled, I get nothing if I visit a site.  I might play around and see what I have to disable to get some nodes.

Those options do say "connections" though, I would have thought that meant you had to have at least a connected pair.

....it's only really useful to open it in a tab, look a bit at the graph, and close the tab again.

That's the only way I use it, I usually forget it's running for weeks at a time unless I've specifically installed something I want to test against it - then I'll check it every few days.

Or perhaps what I really want is an "advanced" mode that lets me do some regex matching :)

That'd be nice....I look forward to "f0dder's Referer Mangler"  ;D

Btw, how'd you get the collusion graph entirely black? Normally it shows the sites you've visited?

I thought it only showed sites that make connections to other sites when you visit, (whether by referer, etc).

As such, having the referer set to the dest site means there is, (in theory), no site-to-site reference to be tracked, (assuming no 3rd party cookies, etc).

Not sure, I'll have to play around with it a bit and see what exactly it logs.

So far I'm setting it up to always set http://www.google.com as the referrer, as that's kinda plausible (well, except you'd probably usually have a query string, but... whatever :)).

http://www.google.co...put=search&q=sex - give them something to think about  ;D

Meanwhile at the site for Bible Studies:
IT: He got to our site by searching for sex?
Minister: Whatever works.

Ah well, I guess I'll give RefControl a try - considered installing it back when I read the Collusion thread, but decided not to based on some of the user reviews. Ah well, here we go :)

You could try just using Change Referer Button instead and have it set to Mode 1, (use the dest page as the referer).

That way you should get the same result but without the whitelist, plus you can easily toggle between it's modes when you need to for a particular site.

Sites that may break are those that get their images from elsewhere and those with download links pointing elsewhere with anti-leech checking, (I've got a whitelisting for a couple of those).

Also Webmin wants to know your referer :)

And possibly install Collusion so you can see who's sharing what with who even though you haven't visited the "other" site.
Tried that - even with noscript, adblock and ghostery, it gets reaaaaally big and messy (and unusably slow) really fast :)

You forgot to block/forge Referers also - I've had them forged for almost three months and Collusion has been completely blank since then.

Only 6 sites are whitelisted for sending the normal Referer.

I don't know* if you know but the Microserver is capable of running ESXi 5.1 with 2 or 3 VMs, (given a bit more RAM) - quite a few reports of people doing it.

If you want to have a play with it, you could remove your existing HDDs and plug in a temp storage HDD, plug a flash drive into the internal USB connector and install ESXi on it.

ESXi 5.1 for it can be downloaded from here.

You could conceivably run your FreeNAS within a VM on it as well as another 1 or 2 VMs.  Won't be suitable for playing games but it might be for some low powered or long time frame work.

Just an idea.

There exists a few half-completed python scripts and .NET projects floating around out there but nothing complete.

The nbCcTalkCoinAcceptor project is based on a previously half-completed .NET project.

It was recently hosted upon GitHub, (25 Feb 2013 - original post here), and includes documentation and a sample VS project.

Is that of any use?

tspion - A nifty, light, and portable keylogger for legal monitoring purposes.

Intro

Platform: Windows XP/Vista/7

This program is written in D. It uses a global hook to record keystrokes.

Just an experimental project made in two nights.

Interestingly this does not seem to require administrator privileges on Windows 7.

Notice

This software is NOT to be used for purposes that invade other people's privacy. This software comes with absolutely NO warranty whatsoever. You are responsible for how you use this software. Most important notice of all: Ctrl-Shift-Alt-S to shut this program down.

Some antivirus programs may detect this as a keylogging malware. That's okay because this program doesn't hide its keylogging capabilities at all (other than being compressed with UPX, but what modern antivirus does not have the UPX unpacker builtin?).

Just a note, if you download launch_1.2.1.exe, then MSE will complain because of the UPX packing.  If you run the extracted keylogger, (which isn't packed), MSE doesn't say a word.

And here's some output, (daten.txt in executables folder):
testing one two tr[BACKSPACE]hree
op
george smithtspion[SHIFT][HOME][CTRL]v - [CTRL(5)]c[BACKSPACE(3)]

[CTRL(4)]v
- [SHIFT]A nifty, light and portable keylogger.[CTRL]c[CTRL]v[DOWN(33)]

[SHIFT]Just a note, if you download launch[SHIFT]_1.2.1.exe, then [SHIFT]MSE will complain.  [SHIFT]If you run the extracted keylogger, [SHIFT]MSE makes[BACKSPACE(6)] doesn't say a word.[CTRL][SHIFT][ALT]S

It only logs physical keypresses, ie. it won't log stuff that's pasted.

Living Room / Re: Long Range WiFi WITHOUT line of sight. HELP!!!!

Oh, I could probably setup a Terminal Computer with PCI based wifi, if that would be better than dongles.
* Stephen66515 shrugs
-Stephen66515 (March 04, 2013, 05:36 AM)

If you use PCI cards that means you need to run good quality low-loss coax cable between the PCI card output and the antenna at the dish.
If it's any more than a meter in length, the signal loss may start to make a significant impact.
Any length of quality low loss coax won't be cheap either, (compared to a 5m USB lead).

With the dongle, you have no such problem - the signal is received and decoded in the dongle and you send just the normal serial data down the cable, good for up to 5m, (per USB spec).

If you use a WiFi extender at the dish and run the data back over CAT5e, you're probably good for 20-30m before POE voltage drop may be a problem - even then, you could just place the POE injector close to the antenna and continue back to the router/computer in CAT5e for another 20-30m without a problem.

Another idea is if you could get one of the small WiFi hotspot devices to run in repeater mode.  You could then place that at the focal point of the dish, just supply it with power and have it rebroadcast the WiFi signal throughout your place.

Living Room / Re: Long Range WiFi WITHOUT line of sight. HELP!!!!

So...Question is...Anybody have ANY clue...if this is possible?

I will be linking with a specific connection...so I don't need something to scan for open networks or anything like that.
-Stephen66515 (March 04, 2013, 12:35 AM)

Yes it should be possible.

The WiFi you're trying to access, what is it specifically?

eg. Is it just a friends wireless router, some free wireless community network, etc.

For the former they might need to provide a directional antenna pointing at you, (a cheap USB adapter at the focal point of your sat dish or parabolic), as well as you needing one aligned with it.
If it's the latter then their antenna setup should be that only you'll require the parabolic/dish.

FWIW, if the dish can be placed within 5m of the router/computer then it's easiest to use a USB 802.11n adapter at the focal point, (you can waterproof it by housing in a plastic pill container), and running a 5m USB extension lead, you may be able to extend it a little by using a active USB extension lead.

If the dish has to be mounted further away than 5m then I'd look at a WiFi extender mounted at the focal point using Cat5e cabling back to the router/computer and using POE, (Power Over Ethernet), to power it.

As for what you do with the dish/antenna, there are numerous sites on the net that deal with using them to extend WiFi range, eg.
This guy modifies the LNB at the dishes focal point to insert a USB adapter.
The image in the post below it is from Stan Swan's excellent article about using "spider skimmers" as parabolic antennas.
Instructables
eHow

The main points being:
  • Is it an offset dish.
  • Where's the focal point, (if the LNB is still attached, this makes it easy).

I'd try with just using a dish at your end first, (because it's the easiest), and seeing if you can get a decent signal.  For that, Netstumbler or inSSIDer is good for pinpointing the best signal as you move the dish around.

Maybe somebody can help me out with this one. It's a 2009 American film called The Limits of Control..
 (see attachment in previous post)
I can't decide if this is an unusually clever movie - or just a send-up of Bergman's style.

(I strongly suspect it's a complete put on to see how many film buffs fall for it - but maybe I'm missing something?)

Anybody else out there manage to sit all the way through it like I did?

I thought I'd give this a go since it's not my usual fare and the IMDB storyline intrigued me.  I couldn't tell you what "Bergman's style" is, (yes, I'll even admit to Googling it - and I still wouldn't have the foggiest), all I'm really interested in is whether it entertains me.

Initially I didn't think I'd make it past the 10 minute mark but at ~25 minutes it started to get interesting, (I am so shallow  :-[ ) - I have to say I started to enjoy the film even after that all to brief interlude with Paz.

So 40hz, to answer your question, yes I sat through it but I'm pretty sure nothing I said, (or say), would "help you out" with it.

However, I thank you for pointing out this film

Now it's back to see what subtle indicators I missed during my first run through because I just know there has to be a lot....and if that fails I'll just do the first thing Isaach says to Bill near the end  ;)

As one of the reviewers wrote on IMDB:
Half of the movie takes place in your head, because you are trying to make sense of what is happening.

If anyone else is interested enough to watch it, please don't read any reviews/writeups on it - it will spoil it, at least I know it would have for me.

That Glind shower sounds nice!

It is - nothing beats pulling up next to the river, throwing the hose in and getting temperature adjustable hot water after 6-8 hours of four wheel driving.

One of life's little luxuries

Mind you, they seem to have more than doubled in price - I got the whole lot, (exchanger/pump/shower head/hose), for less than the current price of the exchanger.

4wd, here in farm country (western Kansas) we call them "widow makers", because they can be quite dangerous.  Also one of the first companies to make them was HiLift hence they are also known as a HiLift jack.

We also call them Hi-Lift jacks, I was just pointing out the one I have which has a higher capacity than the "real" Hi-Lift Jack.

As for dangerous, extremely if you you don't take proper precautions....but that's what makes them so interesting  :)
