Very good points made in this post: 30 Years Of The CD, Of Digital Piracy, And Of Music Industry Cluelessness
Here's an extract - read the rest at the link. The CD therefore stands as a wonderful symbol of the music industry's inability to see the deeper, underlying trends in technology, and where they would take us. Back then, it meant that nobody was worried about the idea that people would copy digital files from CDs and share them, because they forgot that technology would make possible tomorrow the things that seemed impossible today. Now it means the copyright industries are still trying to preserve unsustainable 20th century business models instead of planning for the incredible technologies we will have in 10, 20 or even 30 years time. They only have to look at the history of the CD and digital piracy to see just how far things can go -- and how wrong our current assumptions can be.-IainB (October 21, 2012, 05:58 AM)
Then "had to reboot" obviously didn't apply. The thing works. That's the end of it afaic.-MilesAhead (October 20, 2012, 03:08 PM)
If you had to reboot then it probably hooks the make and break codes. Maybe installed a virtual device driver or something. Down at that low level it should be able to disable.-MilesAhead (October 20, 2012, 01:10 PM)
Tao, FWIW,
recommendation for remap software via mouser:Fannon -- thanks for the tip about using SharpKeys to reassign Capslock; i've added a tip about that in the FARR help file for people who want to use CapsLock -- it seems like a good choice especially for laptop users.-mouser (October 16, 2012, 10:28 AM)
was looking at it lately - looks like it will change Ctrl key-tomos (October 20, 2012, 12:49 PM)
I tried to intercept it and just return. Didn't work. But if you can point out a page on the forum where someone successfully nullifies a modifier only hotkey I'll look at it. I searched 1/2 hour with no luck.
The proper way to disable a key is with a keyboard remap utility. Or pry the key off and stick a cap over it.-MilesAhead (October 20, 2012, 12:32 PM)

Glad you like it. I don't believe there's any way to disable just a modifier key using ahk. But this site shows how to use a keyboard mapper software to disable a single key:

(I believe) you could always just change it to shift with AHK -
wouldnt matter if you miss then-tomos (October 20, 2012, 11:56 AM)

Copyright Complaint Kills the Rickroll [UPDATED]...Editor’s note: The Rickroll video was blocked from YouTube for 24 hours, but now it’s back. We’re contacting YouTube for an explanation.-IainB (October 20, 2012, 08:06 AM)

People are just too damned nosy and have to insert themselves into everybody Else's business, no matter how big or small. And if that isn't enough, then they have to go a step further and ridicule anyone that's "different" to the point of either trying to change them or ruin their lives. They can't just live and let live.
People like that are either so unhappy with their own lives and try to make everyone Else's life miserable (misery loves company) or they think they are above reproach and need to command everyone to their line of thought. You know, full of themselves.-Tinman57 (October 18, 2012, 07:16 PM)
Since Microsoft started its move towards more cloud-based initiatives (i.e. Office365 and Microsoft Online Services) I'm having trouble seeing where there's a future for a company like mine - unless we either want to become software developers, or spend our time selling Microsoft's online subscriptions from door to door.-40hz (October 18, 2012, 08:08 AM)
I'm hearing shades of 1985 on this.
"Save the Microsoft Tower! 10 years ago it was hit by competition and it hasn't been the same since!"
"Great Scott!"
"Doc! What is it Doc?"-TaoPhoenix (October 18, 2012, 08:26 AM)
@Tao - Huh? I must be denser than usual this morning. You just lost me with that one...-40hz (October 18, 2012, 08:39 AM)
