I'd actually like to put out a call for help..

We would like to find a source of data over the last few years that will give us an estimate of how well each team did when playing against each other team.

That is, we want a table of score showing what the avg match score was when each team played each other team.

Any help in:
1) locating this raw data
and
2) extracting it into a spreadsheet or similar data file form.

Just a little sample of what kind of results WCP '06 Gives you.
Note this chart is generated dynamically in your browser as it runs on the real page (this is just a screenshot here with my annotations).

PLEASE REMEMBER: this chart here is not generated with real prediction data!!! It's just to give a flavor for the format and use of the results.  These are not real team predictions!

Living Room / Re: usability test videos for linux desktop tasks - interesting
« Last post by mouser on June 02, 2006, 04:42 PM »
you are right - it's really usability tests of different linux desktops, not linux itself.
in fact these people on the whole do very well in figuring out how to use stuff,
the linux desktop apps are getting quite good.
31360
oh nice find rjbull!
31361
instead of man-on-the-street, you could buy a telephone recorder and call random people and ask them these questions (make sure you get their permission to put their answers on the donationcoder.com podcast).
31362
Tons of usability test videos of people trying to use different linux desktops (gnome, etc.) to do different things.  Lots of giant video files.
Also find reports and data about linux desktop usability on the site.

note: videos seem down at the moment (or overwhelmed).

...
Below are videos that we have taken of user tests. Please consider when watching the videos, that they may touch on many parts of the desktop. For example, a test that deals with changing the background may involve Nautilus or GNOME Control Center. In other words, there is a lot to learn from these videos!

Living Room / VisualComplexity gallery collection - very cool
« Last post by mouser on June 02, 2006, 02:12 AM »
...
VisualComplexity.com intends to be a unified resource space for anyone interested in the visualization of complex networks. The project's main goal is to leverage a critical understanding of different visualization methods, across a series of disciplines, as diverse as Biology, Social Networks or the World Wide Web. I truly hope this space can inspire, motivate and enlighten any person doing research on this field.

DonationCoder Projects / SMF addon - attach images to personal messages
« Last post by mouser on June 01, 2006, 06:38 PM »
This idea is a mod for smf, to allow people (group permissions should say who) to attach files to personal messages.
It's been requested a lot on smf forum, and it's something we would certainly be willing to give some prizes for.

DonationCoder Projects / RPG on the forum
« Last post by mouser on June 01, 2006, 06:36 PM »
This is not an entirely new idea -
other forums have done it in the paste.

the idea is to invent a kind of funny/silly role playing game that people can play with one another through the forum.

you could actually write it as an independent little php (or whatever) script, and we could easily add code to autodetect username and avatar using forum login.

nice long review comparing music *recommendation* sites.

...
What these services do is help us find these artists by feeding you tunes similar to those you've selected yourself. Usually you can then stream customized radio stations based on your musical tastes. Artists come from all genres, from the obscure to the mainstream, from yesterday to today, and from the crappy to the "I wonder why they aren't on the radio." Either way, whatever your musical tastes, you're bound to discover something new you'll like.

Living Room / Rock Paper Scissors 25 - an old game, a very cool twist
« Last post by mouser on June 01, 2006, 03:29 PM »
Seriously, things like this tell me there is still hope for this world of ours.
this takes the rock-paper-scissors game idea to a whole new level.  pure genius.

...
9/25/05: After receiving 100+ letters in the past two weeks (mostly) raving about RPS-15 and including lots of ideas for more gestures, and also with so many requests to incorporate gestures from other popular bastardizations of RPS, I elected to cap this whole nightmarishly ridiculous endeavor with an Earth-swallowing 25-gesture game. This is it...I swear I am done now.

any more clues about when it happens?
what do you have ctrl+prtscr set to capture in your options configuration?
do you mean that you have screenshot captor set to print the image to the printer, or were you just using the printscreen term to mean capturing an image..
