(also +1 on Calvin & Hobbs. Easily my all time favorite strip.)Oh yeah. I used to be obsessed with Calvin and Hobbes. What a treasure. I still very fondly remember in 4th grade my dad driving me at night to the bookstore to buy me Something Under the Bed Is Drooling that had just come out and I couldn't wait any longer to get it. Did you ever get the complete set with the hardcovers and case? I did, it's awesome. I need to get the Far Side one also.-40hz (December 28, 2010, 10:52 AM)
Note: for day-to-day web use I still prefer this trackball. Takes a little getting used to at first. However, once you've acclimated, you can absolutely fly with this thing. Not cheap ($99.99 list! - and seldom discounted) but still well worth its asking price IMHO.40, could you explain a little the specific advantages of using a trackball like you mentioned? i tried it out a while back, but I couldn't understand how it made anything faster or easier or anything. What am I missing?-40hz (December 27, 2010, 08:50 AM)
The average user isn't savvy enough to sort large result sets. Why else would Apple not let you sort in the ape store? Because apes can't sort. But they can press a button.haha...that's some big league hating there! It's true, you can't sort in the app store, it drove me nuts the first time i saw that. I don't care. Like I said, once I stopped comparing the ipad to my fully featured desktop monster, I got over all of this stuff. I'm telling you, once you think about apple products as simply extensions to your computing habits, you'll be fine with them. As long as you have a homebase computer that is very rich and flexible like windows or linux, you'll be fine using apple products. It all comes down to file management. I made a thread about it, it was such a big revelation to me.
To be certain, iPads are gorgeous devices. Forged in Hell on tortured baby souls by Satan's transvestite donkey witches.-Renegade (December 27, 2010, 09:40 AM)
Hmmm...Suit yourself! She's welcome in my bed with or without an ipad. If she brings one, we can do...stuff...with both of our ipads.
I likely wouldn't kick Joanne Kelly out of bed for eating crackers.
But I definitely would for booting up an iPad.-40hz (December 22, 2010, 01:07 PM)
Actually, what I was talking about wasn't clipmate. i tried something from a while back based on a suggestion here, and it was a very lightweight simple clipboard manager that literally had a grid of boxes with each clip in it, and I could just click the buttons to paste them into whatever form. i forgot what it was called.Like Superboyac, I don't want my clipboard manager to be a database manager or notetaker. I'm concerned only with the clipboard features. One feature that I use a lot in ClipMate is "Power Paste." I can gather information from a number of different places and then paste them one by one automatically into a form, a report, a list, or whatever. That plus the ability to click on the ClipMate icon and have it show me the most recent clips (currently, I can see the last 20 without changing anything; were I to make the interface longer, I could probably see the last 40 or more, and of course choose the one I want to use) are probably the features I value most.Ah! That is handy! I have to try that. That is one area that I find lacking in CHS and Arsclip. I often run into the same situation with filling in form boxes, and something like Clipmate would be perfect for that. Thanks!-cyberdiva (December 21, 2010, 12:35 PM)-superboyac (December 21, 2010, 12:48 PM)

Fortunately, I discovered things like ReadItLater, Canaware NetNotes, and CintaNotes. So now, when I'm doing heavy duty research, I'll rely on those tools rather than keep all my 'jumps' open because I'm afraid of losing something.MM!! Cintanotes is very nice. It's in my portable toolbox now. Thanks man!-40hz (December 20, 2010, 06:15 AM)
