you might be right that it's too common a hotkey...
maybe ctrl+alt+d ?

the thing is a lot of people have requested an easier way to delete files, and i agree with them - it should be easy to delete without confirmation (thought i suppose i could make an option to always confirm)..

Living Room / What's the best registry cleaner? Ask Leo says: none
« Last post by mouser on July 03, 2006, 12:58 AM »
we've actually discussed this before.. and i tend to come to the same conclusion, mostly because the risk of deleting something important seems so high to me, i'd rather not take the chance..

What would be the best software to buy to fix and clean the registry for Windows XP Professional?

There's a wide variety of opinion on registry cleaners. Many people believe that they're important tools to keep your system running smoothly.

My opinion's a little different.

I rarely use a registry cleaner. In fact, I've never actually felt that I've needed to use a registry cleaner. And I definitely install and play with random things on my machine on a regular basis.

My fundamental belief is that the best registry cleaner is no registry cleaner at all. Most people simply don't need it, and don't need to run one.

Newsletter for July 2nd, 2006
Codename 'Summer Software'

"If you read nothing else on our site, read the newsletter!"

1. The C++ Builder Programming Contest is Almost Over (July 15th)!
Calling all programmers: Our C++ Builder Donationware Programming Contest, co-sponsored by Borland is coming to an end in the next two weeks.  With over $25,000 worth of prizes, the winners are going to be rolling in goodies and be the envy of their friends.  Plus you'll have your winning program featured on our site and in a magazine article as well.

2. New DonationCoder.com Software Releases
We listen to your requests and we've released quite a few updates in the last two weeks.

3. July's Discounts and Giveaways
Each month we contact companies you have told us you want discounts from, and ask them if they are willing to provide a month long discount to our DonationCoder.com members, and donate a few copies for us to give away in a monthly drawing.  Let's see what we've got lined up for July:

4. Games and Diversions
Ok you know the drill, work hard and play light - we love the little Flash Games and diversions, and they're a constant subject of discovery discussion on our forum:

5. Site Features and News
We are always adding new features to our website in response to suggestions by you, our members.  What did we discuss in the last two weeks?

6. Developer's Corner
More and more people are discovering our programming school section, and having fun rediscovering the joy of programming.  And the developer-related discussions on our forum are getting interesting.

7. Debates and Hot Discussions
We love debating software issues on the forum.  Why aren't you joining in and expressing your views?  Everyone's opinion is welcome.

8. Web Discoveries and Articles
What's worth reading on the web? With so much information out there it can be hard to know.  Here are some recent discoveries we're talking about on the forum.

9. Security News
We are always keeping an eye out for security alerts, and we've seen a few recently.

10. Website of the Month
Each month we honor a website we love.  It shouldn't be a surprise to find software addicts gravitate to this month's site of the month, BetaNews.  It's one of the few sites that treats Beta releases as special treasures.

Special thanks to jgpaiva for preparing this month's newsletter, and to ampa for handling all the discounts and giveaway stuff!

i hear ya nontroppo - and agree.
as you can see i've been updating many of the other programs on the site while marinating in the farr stuff.
it's clear that farr v1 should get an intermediate release or two while farr v2 is being hashed out, i agree with that.

chris_j11,

you wrote:
so, am i the only i who tried to autocapture a ms 2000 document and cannot use the scrolling window capture functions or this program cannot scroll capture ms document

try the latest version (2.18.01), i have added substantial new brains to the scrolling window capture, and it seems to work for ms office capturing for me now, though it's still a bit rough (and only does vertical scrolling not horizontal!).

« Last post by mouser on July 02, 2006, 02:58 AM »
this is slightly off topic, but speaking of big images, those computer generated images in your gallery are incredible oshyan.  you REALLY need to tell us about the program you are using one of these days.  maybe make a screencast of it in action or something.  really beautiful.

Site/Forum Features / New site feature: sort recent topics by creation date
« Last post by mouser on July 02, 2006, 02:14 AM »
Small new feature but could be useful.

Normally, the "Recent Topics" page shows all topics (threads), sorted by last post date and last poster.
Due to popular demand a new feature has been added that lets you click to sort this list by creation date and topic starter.
This can be useful if you want to see all the posts created since a certain date (for example if you have been on vacation for 2 weeks).

To use it, click the "Recent Topics" link at the top of the forum pages.

Mini-Reviews by Members / Our New Mini-Review Screencast Section
« Last post by mouser on July 02, 2006, 02:03 AM »
We've created a special page to organize the screencasts made for mini reviews.
Josh (our official DonationCoder.com screencaster) has started us of with fun screencasts, and we can look forward to many more.

We may in the future modify that page to contain a nice listing of all mini-reviews, whether they have screencasts or not, to make it easier for people to locate the user mini reviews.  Opinions?

So if you do a mini-review of a program, be sure to ask Josh to make a screencast to go with it
