There's one thing i've done on donationcoder.com that has made life 100x easier and safer, and i think it's worth posting about, and that is to have a mirror site for testing.

That is, have a copy of your website/forum/services/etc., installed on another account or server.

Use this copy to test any changes before you try them out on the real site.  For things like forum modifications and new services, it offers a safe and easy way to develop things without worrying about mucking about with the real site.

there is NO pruning of posts from the forum..

carol has mentioned a couple of times looking for an old post she made and not being able to find it.. i wish i could figure out how to track down such issues.. if we can figure out any case of posts dissapearing i will try to figure out how it could happen.

ive installed the bookmark mod for smf written by Leipe_Po

seems to work pretty well.  so thanks to Leipe_Po for the nice feature, i know many people here have wanted it.

just to follow up with some extra features:

when you rate a page, it gets added to your page list, which you can see at any time, so its also useful to remember sites.

and don't miss the ability to look at other peoples comment about a site, just click the white "comments" button to see what other people think about the site you are on:

great mini review and you captured the spirit of stumbledupon very well 

another thing thing to mention is that you should take time to rate sites and leave comments about sites, and that you can view other comments by other people, right?

AOL is putting the final touches on a plan that would stop marketing its subscription service, which for more than a decade has been the most popular way that Americans connect to the Internet, according to a senior AOL executive close to the plan's development.

Instead, it will redouble its efforts to build a free, advertising-supported business on the Web, offering current and former members access to the most popular features of its paid service — including e-mail addresses at AOL.com, free virus protection, and use of AOL's software program.

The plan would save hundreds of millions of dollars a year in marketing costs and involve layoffs of thousands of AOL's 19,000 employees, said the executive, who would not speak for attribution because the details of the plan have not been completed.

sc does not hightlight text so im not sure that would effect it.. maybe you could experiment a little more (and make sure you are using the latest beta of sc), and report any clues you discover?  it really should work.
