i think part of a mini review should include a discussion on how it compares to other similar programs the user has tried.

more from Ian Betteridge's Technovia which strikes home with me:

There's a distinction to be made here between some of the Web 2.0 sites and others.
...
The social aspects of Flickr, while great, aren't necessary for it to have value. It's an online photo service, and on that level no more or less ”Web 2.0“ than Yahoo! Photos was/is.
...
Services like Digg and Netscape, on the other hand, have precisely zero value other than as aggregators of user-generated content.
...
Kevin's hypocrisy is this: he's implying that people should and will continue to do it for love, because they feel like the site belongs to them. Yet, of course, the site doesn't belong to them - it belongs to him, and he will sooner or later make money from it. You can call that hypocrisy, or you can call it the oldest Capitalist trick in the book. Either way, it smells bad.

i'll look into it - it may be that process tamer is not running with as much permissions as it could to handle it.

The server went down unexpectedly from 11pm to 12 midnight New York Time, on Saturday July 29.

Please excuse the downtime; still trying to figure out what caused it.

Nice new blog or website, Dead2.0.

http://www.dead20.com/

Recent posts:
In its most generic definition, a mashup takes two things and blends them together.  I think the first ever was Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but I haven’t done enough research to confirm this.  In our present time, there are two dominant usages of the term:

Ask skeptics mom:
So I’m kicking off a new recurring “column” (and I use the term loosely) called “Ask Skeptic’s Mom” in which I will ask my mother a question related to Web 2.0, and we’ll see what she has to say.  The rules we’ve agreed to are as follows:

Imagination Cubed: Draw online with your friends

Very well done drawing page where you can invite friends and draw together and then send off the result by mail to someone.

id like to know about such programs too.

directory opus has some features for this, but i'd also like to see a special program for this with more options like you say.

it is done this way by design, yes.
so that you can edit something in an external tool but still keep all your objects.
after you save the file in the external tool screenshot captor will load it back and put the objects back on it.

however you have 2 choices if you want to do it otherwise.

1) use the "flatten all objects to background" first to convert all objects to normal bitmap (non-editable) before you launch your external tool.
2) configure the external tool to use a temporary flat file.  here you would use a file argument like:
"%tmpfile%.jpg" which tells the program to create a temporary flat file (all objects merged into image) and then invoke the tool on that.  you would use this for example if you were wanting to ftp the image somewhere.

Want to play games on your Playstation but got a deadline for an exam or report that didn’t match your gaming ambitions?

Then you have come to the right place.

Send trashed files and blame your faulty computer, instead of confessing that you are a lazy bum who just wants to play videogames.

General Software Discussion / Re: My rant against php...
« Last post by mouser on July 28, 2006, 02:01 PM »
what he is talking about is a web page with embedded php.
and yes, it would be nice to hava a wysiwyg web editor which dynamically interprets the php; basically just a local web server with php installed for rendering the pages, with a web page editor frontend.  it may exist but i dont know any off hand.

auto launch app is not yet possible, but i could ask it, it has been discussed before.

however you can configure other programs to launch and work on the file using the Extrernal Tool configuration, and then launch them through the menu manually.

Auto rotate - i could add it.
I'm starting more and more to think we might need a little script system for specifying actions to perform on captore (or a menu of them), which could include cropping, shadows, borders, resizing, rotation, etc.

as far as transparent corners.. i'll look into it.

30473
welcome neoscorp,

drop shadow exists, see the shadow button (unless i dont understand the request).

automatic watermark - yes, it is on my todo list.  you can actually do this pretty easily now, just click on "clipart" button and choose your watermark image (easy to add your own directory of watermarks!), and drag them where you want them (and adjust transparency).

rotate image - i will add this - it's actually mostly already implemented (go to last tab of menu SpecialFx->Adjust colors and more).
