General Software Discussion / Re: New PDF editor: FlexiPDF from SoftMaker
« Last post by Curt on October 07, 2017, 05:21 PM »
$19.99 https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/0274/office-software/pdf-pro for 10 more days.

Yes, it clearly is a renamed version of FlexiPdf Pro. But the price!!! If one is in need of a pdf editor and/or a virtual print-to-pdf, this is it. $20? I can't believe it! I am already using the $80 SoftMaker twin version, and the original (INfix Pro 6) is $129.19 USD at Bits du Jour's, and they are all identical - so I am able to say this $20 offer is a bargain!

If "external harddisk is a rather slow process", then I suggest you keep the Mac.

Relax, it is not a virus alert, but an advert alert.

However, the program has not been updated for five hundred years and is not to be found on their "Download" -homepage (https://smartpctools.com/downloads/), so WHERE did you find it?

306
download from http://notefrog.com/

not updated since 2015-October-11, in fact it seems you can't even buy it any more:

and if you click "go PRO...", you will get a 404:

is there any chance (risk) it could be because of the overwhelming number of security updates (approx 60) for Microsoft Office 2010 that came a couple of days ago? I know my Waterfox turned from good to bad at that exact point in time, while my Firefox stayed okay.

free and really fine panorama viewer: http://www.wpanorama.com/

a new version of WPanorama is finally available.

The main differences with the previous version are:

  - WPanorama can check at startup if a new version is available and, if it is the case, gives the possibility to connect to the site in order to download it.

  - The software now uses your current web browser to display the map showing the panorama location. This has been made in order to solve a compatibility issue between Google Maps and wpanorama web browser. The advantage is that the map can now be displayed in a larger size.

  - Miscellaneous improvements in the menus and the help.

  - Correction of a few bugs, one of them which could, under certain circumstances, disable the current screensaver.

You will get more details by using the "Help - Version history..." function of the new version of WPanorama.

As usual, WPanorama can be downloaded either by using the "Help - Check Web for update" function of your actual version, or from http://www.wpanorama.com/ homepage, thanks to the "Download WPanorama" link.

In the future, you will not receive this type of message anymore, as WPanorama is now able to notify you when new versions are available.

Don't forget to visit WPanorama website once in a while, as many new panoramas are regularly added.

With my best regards

Pierre-Alain Bovard

WPanorama, always recommended, but maybe the GUI suffers from French thinking.

Living Room / 60 years. Am I now allowed to be grumpy?
« Last post by Curt on September 08, 2017, 12:39 PM »
Yeah, my b-day is today, the 8'th of September. But the age is 60 now. Ouch, 60!!

.. you come across as someone young at heart  :)
I wil take it as a compliment: Thank you, Darwin,....I think.  8)
Curt - in case I miss it - Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Darwin! Actual (sorry!), I am a little afraid I might miss it myself...

I didn't miss it back then, and I didn't miss it today either. It was nice to be celebrated at work, and I am looking forward to my party tomorrow. What freaks me out is that 10 more years passed by just like that! It's terrifying how fast time goes by. But you won't understand it if you still are young.

"60". Hm... there is something about this number. Am I now allowed to be grumpy?

"LEGACY" used to be a good word, a word you would be pleased to see. Now it's a word to be scared by, a word to put you down:

Forgive me, smart phone users in particular, this is a looong picture; 662 x 3687 pixels (162kb):

The developer(s) behind Waterfox intend to keep support for "legacy" extensions

-thank you for reminding me. I was using it for many months, but got tired of being told by various robots that Waterfox was obsolete. It seems Mozilla has changed their policy on that subject.

Dear user,

Sorry about it, yes, we will just correct it, from our background platform, we just found that your status is normal, you can use it for lifetime, you do not need to renew the program any more.

If you have any further problems or concerns then please feel free to contact us again. Best regards Zoe Apowersoft Support Center

ORIGINAL POST:

I received an email from Avangate <[email protected]> saying my license key for Apowersoft Streaming Audio Recorder is about to expire and I must renew license within 7 days OR PROGRAM WILL STOP WORKING!

My key is a lifetime key, so I hold it to be a lie.

The homepage told that Avangate now is 2CHECKOUT.

so I now have to warn against Avangate and this 2CHECKOUT

a lot more addons were ruined by the last Firefox update. I have removed it and moved to "ESR" (Firefox Extended Support Release ESR):
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.3.0/releasenotes/

This way one can keep all the extensions and still have a browser accepted/made by Mozilla.
