General Software Discussion / Re: Maxthon or Avant?

I am continuing to use Maxthon for now.

Like in Opera, we can set up keyboard shortcuts in Firefox using keyconfig add-on. I wrote a small tutorial on the same at my blog. If interested, check it out by clicking on the screenshot below:

Two questions (may be possible, already?)/suggestions:

1. Say I type "dt freew", I see that 'freeware' tag is listed. When I select it, I want to go to http://delicious.com/sridhar/freeware ('sridhar' is my delicious.com user name)

2. I want a list of posts based on tags. Ex.: I want to see only those posts that match 'freeware' and 'updater'. Something like http://delicious.com...har/freeware+updater. And when I select a post from the results list, I should be taken to that URL.

Doable? Thanks in advance.

Thank You very much nosh. Functional and unobtrusive, I like it. We can access winamp options from it as well. I've removed winamp's icon from taskbar and tray.

There is also TrayPlayer http://www.atmaxsoft.com/trayplayer.html. Doesn't use too much resources and is more than adequate for playing music. It's GUI is minimalistic, but very well ordered and accessible by shortcut keys.

doesn't work for me. The songs seem to play, but I hear nothing.

Can winamp be put in tray?

Yes, you don't need to activate/use the web sync feature of EverNote. Are you facing problems getting the clipper to work from within IE6?

General Software Discussion / A dockable bar to launch programs by mouse move
« Last post by sri on May 07, 2008, 08:02 AM »
I was wondering if there's a s/w that exists already which will do the following:

I should be able to add files/folders/shortcuts/exes to a dock by browsing to them or drag-n-drop. Let's say I drag this dock to the right side of my screen. When I move the mouse on that edge, this dock will appear. And when I mouse over on an item, a confirmation has to pop-up. When I mouse over on the 'yes' area of confirmation, that item should be launched. So there's no mouse click anywhere.

It should be just move (to the dock), move (to the item in the dock to be launched) and move (and to the confirmation region).

Any ideas?

I know you are asking for s/w, but isn't using sites like www.meebo.com not an option for you?

I type now` and PhraseExpress expands it to today's date like this -> 04/27/2008

I have no idea what you are talking about.  I am a lousy programmer, that is why I am here!   ;D

http://phraseexpress.com/

This program is very useful. You can have it type frequently used text simply by typing the abbreviations that you set. One of its inbuilt feature is that of typing out system date and time. So you can set any text like "now`" and it expands it to today's date in real time as you type it.

Google Desktop Search comes with a collapsible sidebar. You can write text in it. The sidebar can be triggered on and off by pressing Shift key twice.

MinimOther is awesome! I didn't realize this is what I wanted when I was frustrated yesterday while trying to keep the active window in focus. I was minimizing everything to desktop and then activating the main window. Not any more. Thanks skrommel for making it and Sylex for mentioning it.

The circle graphic in the homepage: Systems and Training text should be inverted for better readability.

Interclue 1.5 - Your Personal Link Preview Multitool

Before you click the link

Hover your mouse pointer over the link, and a Linkclue icon will appear.

Rest your mouse on the icon, and up pops an enhanced summary of the linked page.

Interclue can give you:

    * A text content summary
    * A small snapshot of the page
    * Sizes and dates of linked files
    * Usefule stats and metadata
    * Next actions - save, email...
    * And more. Check the options!

Neat! One of the most useful add-ons I have come across in a long time.

I am using Text Link add-on to open URLs that are in plain text. Just double click on the text and the link opens.

Syncplicity is free, at least as of now.

Also, take a look at Mozy.

I wish this works in XPlorer2.
