Which form (there's a few on that page)

Good point.

Weird, printed fine here. Only thing I noticed is that it appears to be A4, and I'm US 8.5x11. But the page scalling option on Adobe reader did fine with it ... Now if that wasn't set/adjusted to fit contents to page ... Some printers may tend to (fail/error) react badly to the print job.

I'm not so sure I want a redundant/duplicate local sync copy of SkyDrive on my local drive, so I may disable it if it does what I think it does.

Sounds like you're more trusting than I. I tend to stay focused on the possibility of their stuff failing (regarding the cloud in general...not just MS). In a major failure data recovery scenario 3% loss is acceptable ... unless of course all your stuff just happens to be in that particular 3% :)

I'm toying with syncing my projects & source code archives between the office & home via the SkyDrive account. But that's allowing for a local copy bolted to the floor (and backed up) on both ends. The only stuff I'd store exclusively in "the cloud" is the stuff I don't give a damn about losing.

Nice, so instead of informing the public about the exploit ...So they could get it fixed properly... The Feds decide to perpetuate it (by piping it through their own servers) for what exactly?? Sounds to me like a bunch of folks just got hacked once and then sold off for chattel by their "rescuers".
I don't think that's the way I'd describe what happened.

(hehe) Understood. But I'm a product of the 70's ... So I've never really been warm-and-fuzzy with "the man". :)

 -  They have informed the public (whether they've done so effectively might be debatable).

  -  The replacements for the rogue DNS servers were set up so people who were exploited could continue using the internet.  I think another reason was to give time for Microsoft, ISPs and anti-malware vendors to get fixes through to their users. I'd hope that that was being done, but don't know if it was. Nobody could force them to do so.

Agreed, but... It just strikes me that they stumbled across a "sweet spot" demographic and decided to mine it for awhile to see what else might show-up regarding the target audience. Otherwise what would be the point of treating this particular bugg any different than the other thousands of exploits floating around out there? People might lose internet access? Like that doesn't happen every day anyhow...

The DNS servers were changed, that's hardly a rocket science level fix. Redirection folks to a page that said "Hi we're the Feds, and you're infected with X. Please contact you're ISP or local computer emporium for a fix." would have been considerably more honest. OTOH Expecting me to believe those (FBI DNS) servers didn't have logging set to max ...(lol)... Just ain't gonna happen. ;)

Okay, got a SS this time...but it doesn't really make any sense. The top says I'm already at 25GB...but I need to "lock it in". The bottom (left) says I was at only 7GB. *Shrug* ...It's up to 25GB now through. :)

Interesting bit on upgrading storage... I had a few live ids hooked to my same account.  I switched over to each, and each has a separate storage allottment.  Now I have 25GB on each...!

hehe Nice.

I've got another older account I can play with when I get home. I'll try to remember to SS it if I get the same odd info ... Which I should because there's nothing in it either. My office account (mentioned above) only had one 200kb file in it ... So why it was already pushed to 25GB is rather confusing.

fwiw, just claimed my 25GB..

Hey! Thanks for that.
I didn't realise you had to get the offer whilst it was available. I assumed I already had 25Gb. Huh!

Yes, and thanks for the tip. However when I logged into my account (which I haven't done in years) it said I was already at 25GB, but needed to accept the offer/lock-in the size before they dropped it down to the new 7GB limit (Sorry I forgot to grab SS).

Simplest is to not draw attention to yourself (e.g. by using a constant encrypted stream). Here's the thing 90% of the Marijuana grow houses that got busted in the past few years got busted the same way, by the same people. The local power company. Because the power usage was just too oddly high (lots of grow lamps...).

Low tech tends to get ignored by high tech. The only "encryption" that was never broken by the Germans during the war ... was actually a simple open discussion by Cherokee Indians. Low tech is key ... Because high tech tends to draw too much attention.

... and I really can't see how Apple could not have foreseen this, seriously.

I'm sure they did. But caring wasn't a limiting factor.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission...and most people either won't check (unless it's reall high), or will just pay it...to avoid the hassle (unless it's real high) ... and that's the money they (get to keep) were after in the first place.

Add printer wizard
Local Printer (uncheck auto-detect & install)
Create new port with it's IP Address, or select the one it already uses
Point it at the correct driver
next, next, next...
done.

Printer properties, General Tab -> Preferences Button
Paper/Quality Set type to what you want it to use
Load media in a preselected tray, and set that tray to the type selected.

We had to put my dog Molly down today. She started having siezures, went blind, could barely breath on her own, and was in a constant state of panic. And all of that happend in just the last 2 days. She was a rescue so we don't know her exact age, but I'd say she was 3-ish when she came to us ... and we've had her about 13 years.

While I'm here...

The T-Clock project is officially closed, as I no longer have time to continue working on it. The source code for T-Clock 2010 (unfinished but stable) build 98 is available on the download page of my website (link as usual in first post of thread).

Just one small request to Stoic Joker. As far as I know (hope that I did not miss something obvious), to get the popup calendar, a user has to right click the time-date display, point to T-Clock Quickys, then move the mouse cursor over to T-Clock Calendar. I would appreciate it very much if you could kindly make accessing the calendar easier, e.g. a single left-click on the time-date display would popup the calendar, just like in betaclock.

That is already a configurable option on the Mouse tab of T-Clock Properties. Just select Mouse Button, number of clicks, and action wanted (show calendar is on the default list) and hit apply. :)

I think it's just the nature of the beast. Similar to why a folder must be empty before you mount a partition to/in it. Or why you can't write files to a DFS root from the network side.

They're actually rather consistently nutty if you add the rest of the quirky behavior. :)

Right, because Documents and Settings is an empty target (e.g. Link). It's not supposed to contain anything, it just a way to get somewhere else. If you go to C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName% however, you will get a file list of that folder. Because it is a folder. D&C isn't.

The seemingly hidden folder [C:\Documents and Settings]  on a Window 7 Drive is part of Windows 7. It's a virtual link that transparently redirects legacy software to the new [C:Users] directory.

Best not to fiddle with it... :)

You're not laughing at Apple-

Yes... Actually, I am.

you're laughing at a terrible situation for multiple users...

That amounts to the "What about the children" defense. People do dumb shit every day ... It doesn't obligate me to lose any sleep over it. There was a crowd of sheeple that flocked to FireFox just before XP SP2 ... And they got there just in time for FF to get shot full of holes too. Did anybody (with a brain...) not see that coming?? It's not that FF was a bad browser (I have no problem with it), it's that a bunch of self appointed (security) mavens decided to wave it about like a magic cloak of invincibility. ...And got called for it shortly there after. Ha!

Likewise - as of late - a bunch of sheep have been herded into the Apple camp with a lure of ultimate safety. ...And they just got spanked for it. Hard ... And well deserved. Because what they should have done is spent some quality time (reading... (which is free)) finding out how to properly operate a computer in a secure fashion. Then it wouldn't have mattered what OS they were running as they'd be equipped with enough sense to know what to do next...or not to do in the first place as the case may be.

80/20 rule 101:
Did you update? No.
Are you infected? Yes.
...Do you see how these to points are associated? [Bobble-headed knod]
Good. *Smack* ...Now don't do that again. ;)

The Darwin Awards are funny, not because it isn't tragic that the star of the story died ... But because the staggering lack of common sense displayed at the end left one to ponder how the hell they managed lived as long as they did.

The armchair general known as Apple has sat at the head of their cardtable battlefield piously peering over their plastic armies scoffing at the fates of those who actually were in the trenches. Smugly confident that their far superior and completely untested strategies would afford them swift and glorious victories against any attack. Their arrogant insistence on claiming that they really were ("Special")secured better than the rest and therefore must be the only safe haven for the iLife of the universe..

Their blithe insolence and blind assumption that they truly were impervious while never even knowing what it was like to have to make a critical decision while live rounds whizzed by their ears has earned them plenty of quality time as a laughing stock for all.
