it's fun installing new programs, but i do think one could benefit from as you say not installing them on spur of the moment impulse.

in fact i would suggest you adopt a version of this habit always.

install new software ONLY on the 1st or so of each month.  if you find something before then that looks fun, put it on a list to install at your next date.  another benefit of this is you can back up your system first once a month., so you can more easily roll back if something goes wrong.

Thank you!

I haven't said this in a while but let me make clear, you guys who test things and report bugs are a lifesaver - it means so much to have people willing to take the time to report things like this so i can fix them.

just hit escape to stop searching.
hitting escape also re-selects the current search string so you can just type another.

It opens everytime a new TotalCMD.exe window with the directories c:\ and d:\
and not within the directory of the file i right clicked.
ok i see the problem, i probably need to pass the directory in quotes.  ok i'll update tonight or tomorrow.

just testing it here and it works fine..
maybe it's a miscommunication about how to use it.

you would set the custom file explorer as you say above (C:\Program Files\totalcmd\TOTALCMD.EXE)
and then try right clicking on an item and saying "explore here" or "explore at linked location"

does that not work? if not, what happens?

I've been using Motherboard Monitor (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/) in my system tray to monitor cpu temperature.

Does anyone else have an alternative they thing is better?  I just want it in the tray, not taking up space on my screen.  My main concern is cpu temperature but i wouldn't mind options to display other stuff like hd temps.  Should be very light on cpu resources.

robbero, are you testing the new v1.10.04?
29617
remember that just because you convert it and can play it on your pc well, does NOT mean it will play well in your dvd player.  If you are interested in making a vcd, svcd, dvd, or just mpg to play on your dvd player, you really need to test it thoroughly because if noticed lots of troubles when going from pc to dvd player, even those designed to play avis, etc.

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: XYplorer File Manager
« Last post by mouser on September 22, 2006, 04:54 AM »
one of my favorite features in directory opus is the display of folder sizes.

xyplorer has this feature BUT it's not quite usable yet imho, because it doesnt transparently scan and update folder sizes in a background thread the way dir opus does.  this is a deal breaker for me.

i'd like to see it do folder size reporting like dir opus: basically the program operates entirely normally and with no waiting, but in the background when you are in a folder it starts calculating and displaying folder sizes.. if you change directories at any time its completely seamless.  so there is no reason to "cancel" from directory sizing or wait for it to complete like you do in xyplorer.

in trying to convert some quicktime files to play on my dvd player i had good results with:
http://www.aone-soft...icktimeconverter.htm

Note i did have to do a lot of experimenting to get the format right for my dvd player, like setting framerate and size (the program does that too).
