I'll bet we have some real gadget lovers here..
On my last trip home to New York City you can imagine my surprise when I saw this in my father's kitchen:

http://www.sodaclubusa.com/

fountainjet.jpg

I love making juice drinks and chocolate drinks with seltzer; much less sweet and chemically than soda!

Well I live in Urbana-Champaign in Illinois now and every time I go to the grocery store i curse them out because they don't sell seltzer (carbonated water).  As soon as i saw this seltzer maker i fell in love with it, and i'ts my new favorite gadget.  Works really well and super convenient, I *love* it and use it every day.  Big thumbs up from me

Little video demo here: http://www.sodaclubu...demo/HowTo/HowTo.htm

I was so excited about it that i contacted them and arranged a 30% discount for anyone here who has an interest in it.  As always i/we get no commission or affiliate fees or any other benefits at all, so buy it or not, it won't affect me.

Because this ships with a gas cannister they probably won't ship it outside the US but you may be able to find a similar company where you live.

Advice: i do not like the diet flavoring stuff they provide, you might not like it either so don't order much of that (it's all made with sucralose even the non-diet flavors), so i strongly suggest you just go to your super market and buy these non-frozen concentrated juice cans (i buy cranberry and grape mainly), and of course some chocolate for making NY Egg Creams (i'll post my recipe later).  There are 3 models available but they are all the same except for look and bottle type - the most expensive one uses a bottle that seems inferior, so it seems to be the cheapest model is the best, imho.

If you want the 30% discount, use coupon RAD30 when ordering.  Expires October 15th, and available to all donationcoder readers.  Price before discount is from $80 to $130 depending on the kit.

ps. this is not an advert - i am just a huge fan of this thing :)

what's your favorite gadget that you own?

i would recommend you not try to use a text editor.
choose a language and use an IDE specifically made for that language.

if you want to try your hand at c and c++, try the free dev-c++ (http://www.bloodshed.net).
otherwise find an ide for your language of choice.

you might try python or java if you don't want to get locked into MS pathway,
or c# instead of c++ if you dont mind being largely locked into MS (since there is a potential .net solution for *nix call Mono).

i've posted a new beta (v1.11.01) that should tackle some of these issues, please give it a try and let me know what you think.
29412
I'm interested in hearing how the new v1.11.01 works for people, i hope i've improved some stuff, though we are still talking about just tweaking stuff not adding major features yet.. (i'm working my way up to it!)

There is a new option, enabled by default, that doesnt automatically free up the program working memory on minimization.  This *should* mean faster wakeups and a little bit more memory use when minimized.

I've also removed something that might have been keeping it from catching the first key pressed on startup if you are fast.

Make sure you download the BETA from the webpage if you want latest version!
Please post reports of issues on separate threads.

Official Announcements / Re: --> SEPTEMBER SOFTWARE DRAWING RESULTS - POSTED!
« Last post by mouser on October 02, 2006, 05:31 PM »
some companies always need reminding, happens every month :)
feel free to mail me ([email protected]) for help in reminding them.
maybe we should post on the results thread as each company sends out the winners (ie one post for each company, not one for each winner).

I'd like to remind people who win prizes or use discounts to consider writing a "minireview" if they are happy with their program.

Living Room / Re: digg rigging?
« Last post by mouser on October 02, 2006, 03:59 PM »
Here we go with an apparently real website selling their services in gaming digg and manipulating results :o
Personally i find digg more unappealing by the day, though i do acknowledge there are some good stories there regularly.

Another nice find on readwriteweb:

"Cost: $20, plus $1 per Digg.

After completing the form below, you will be taken to PayPal. Once your PayPal payment is received, your Digg submission will be given to User/Submitter users to promote on Digg.com.

User/Submitter users are then given the chance to digg your submission and other stories for $0.50. After your submission has reached your desired number of diggs, you will be emailed a report.

We cannot guarantee that your submissions will hit the front page of Digg. We reserve the right to reject or cancel any submission for any reason.

If User/Submitter is unable to fulfill your requested number of verified diggs within 48 hours, you will be refunded the amount of Diggs paid for but not received within 5 working days.

All User/Submitter transactions are private."

has escaped and is now in the hands of an unknown person my apartment building.  the thing is, he is highly venomous so i'm just going to monitor the hospital for reports of illness.

Official Announcements / Re: Announcing October's Discounts and Giveaways
« Last post by mouser on October 02, 2006, 02:01 PM »
Breaking news:
When i realized that the authors of Agenda At Once (who urlworlf contacted and arranged the discount for) were also the makers of one of my very favorite web log analysis tools, i begged them to let me include it in the discounts+givewaway.  they were nice enough to agree.  So now we add:

It's still a very expensive tool for normal users, but if you need the best, then you should give it a try.

As always, check the Specials page (see top nav bar) for current discounts and to enter drawing, or members can go directly to the Member's Only Discount Codes Section (see main forum section list).

for example:

let us know if you find other software.

We're continuing with 2 week "segments", so week #5 (Oct 1st-8th) will be a continuation of our Mark Forster week.

So if you haven't yet read the big week #4 assignment to learn about Mark Forster's Techniques, read it here:
https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=5440.0

And to summarize the continuing assignent, you are to follow Forster's "Little and Often" recommendation:
  • Pick a project you have been putting off for a while and have not been able to get yourself to work on, and work on it for 5 minutes each day, until October 8th. [Update: as Mark Forster has now commented below, this should say to work on it for AT LEAST 5 minutes each day]
  • Read more about this challenge here: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=5418.0

go to Red Box capture options and enable it for Regions and Objects, then you will be able to resize.
i will try to add cursor capture option to that red box mode.
