ah i see what you mean mark0, from the about page:

The purpose of forumposters.org is to match forum owners with quality forum posters who want to be paid for posting on forums. Paid forum posting is useful for creating and maintaining a quality forum that attracts users who you want to stay and contribute to your forum as well. Without hiring at least a few forum posters, it can be difficult host a forum that is of any repute and value to advertisers. Forumposters.org does not charge forum posters or forum owners for the service that it provides. Forumposters.org is a free website for matching forum posters with forum owners.

This is interesting but from reading the forum it still troubles me.

I suppose this could be acceptable if
1. You made clear up front to everyone that the people posting were being paid
2. You were paying them to add content of value to the forum or help others, answer questions, etc.

It seems very shady though, and i wouldn't go near such a forum with a 10 foot pole.  It sure looks like the people using their service won't be telling their readers that the posters are paid which is not cool, to put it mildly.

WinExposé is a clone of Mac OS X's Exposé, but for Microsoft Windows.

Basically it will resize and move your onscreen windows so that they are all visible and don't overlap each other.

We've discussed this practice here:
https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=2341.0

While i can certainly sympathize with how hard it is for companies to get attention sometimes, even for the best products, needless to say this is absolutlely unacceptable here and i think it's a horrible idea, and it will not be tolerated on this forum.

I would advise everyone to stay away from any company that pays people to post about their stuff.

By now, hopefully, you, as a responsible application developer, have downloaded a few of the public beta releases of Microsoft’s next operating system, Windows Vista, and made sure your applications work under the new OS.

While 99% of well-written Delphi applications will work just fine under Vista (issues such as admin-rights, elevation, and UAC, are outside the scope of this article), they will certainly not lend to the new user experience improvements found in Windows Vista. In fact, the more you look into the new user experience features in Vista, the more you’ll find your applications stick out like a sore thumb.

However, do not fret! It is entirely possible, and fairly easy, to overcome these discrepancies, and make your applications look, and feel, 100% at home in the new user experience found in Windows Vista. Let’s examine some of the quirks found in Delphi-brewed applications and what we can do to overcome them, as well as some extra steps we can take to make our applications fit in.

major new versions are announced in the newsletter which you will get by default when you sign up at the forum.
you could also click the "NOTIFY" button on the launchbar commander version thread and you'd get notified by email when a new version is released :)

that sounds like a giant project that would take years..
how about starting with something really simple but playable that could be done in a month?

I guess from MS perspective, they are probably tired of getting a bad rap for instability when it's caused by 3rd party drivers and software.. if their motivation is to reduce the # of crashes and instabilities by making it harder for companies to polute the kernel, it's somewhat understandable.

There are some nice tutorials on flash game design.  I've been looking into a few on platform games in flash using a tile editor (which would make it easy for others to design levels):

General Software Discussion / Re: Jetico firewall tops in "leaktest"?
« Last post by mouser on October 18, 2006, 06:56 PM »
i think it's really important to consider a critical fact in these tests:
they tend to be done with "out of the box" (default) settings in the firewalls.

this is extremely important, because it means that the tests tend to be a measure not of the firewalls potential ability to block things, but it's performance with default settings, which can be hugely different, depending on how the firewall is configured out of the box.

for example, some firewall makers try to avoid bothering the avg user with popups, so by default they allow stuff that an advanced user would change.  other firewalls by default are overly paranoid, meaning tons of pop-ups, where an advanced user might adjust those settings.

so i take these scores with a grain of salt..

I'm going to add some options for letting user have submenus for their favorites and better display favorites separately from quickpaste so that you wont run out of places for favorites.  putting on my todo list now.
maybe the best way to do it is let user select how many from history will show and then the rest will be favorites.
