I've been thinking about going to the Walmart throw-away phones.  The NSA don't know who you are even if they were tracking the phone.   ;D

You've hit a sore spot for me... I'm pretty bitter & resentful that everywhere I've lived has forced me to produce a passport in order to get a chip just to talk to people. I've been bitter about this for years and it still pisses me off. You're lucky in the US there if you don't have to... I'm going to stop there before I degenerate into a babbling puddle of boiling profanities and steaming vulgarity...

Besides, any phone that regularly drops off the grid and can't be reached by a backchannel ping - and then pops back for no apparent reason - becomes a dead giveaway that the owner is employing some shielding mechanism.

Bingo! (As usual...) Then they look at where the phone appeared and based on where it disappeared, and the time it was off ... calculate the most likely point what was hidden. Doesn't take too many tries to narrow it down either I'd wager.

As long as you're not silly enough to constantly go back to where you buried the bodies, it should be ok. :P

Kinda makes you wonder whether it's worth having the hassle of a phone at all anymore.

1. How late are they open?
2. How far away are they from midtown

1. Open 365/24/7 - The 2 AM door bashing is a specialty. Although the employees are pretty grumpy, so it's not really service with a smile.
2. 0 m. They're EVERYWHERE. Check your smart TV camera for more information. ;)

Oh man... I gotta buy some stock in private prisons! This is going to be so lucrative! Imagine all the innocent people we can lock up! I only wish that I could buy stock in court houses! Business is going to be booming there! Woohoo! Just think of how this is going to benefit the economy! More prison guards hired... More guns, tasers, prison uniforms, guard uniforms, food contracts for prison cafeterias, laundry contracts... Wow! What investment opportunities! Oh... but it's going to drive down the costs of license plates... better short those...

Any questions about how fascism works?

The printer business model is largely on replacement ink cartridges. I don't know enough about that specific printer to say much more, but if you're already getting into replacing parts and paying for labour, it's mostly likely going to be cheaper to simply replace it with a refurbished or used one. You also need to factor in the time it takes for you to deal with the issue. If it costs you $100 in time, it might just be cheaper to get a refurb and be done with the deal.

Downloaded 'em! Got "Overdose" playing now... Not sure if I've seen them or not, but they're right up my alley. (Oooh! Gerald Celente! Love that guy!)

Topical, but not a film, you might like a series of articles I wrote on banking. They have some accompanying software (simple stuff - Windows, Mac, Linux, Web, Android versions) to go along with them to help demonstrate. This is the best place to start:

http://cynic.me/2012...reserve-banking-1-6/

The general category for them is here: http://cynic.me/tag/...nal-reserve-banking/

I add a couple new perspectives in there, but a lot of it has already been said numerous times before.

The last article in the series lists a number of documentaries and films that are similarly themed to what you've posted above. (They were also published at The Activist Post and reposted quite a few times, which made me happy!  8) )

I don't know jack about THAT printer, but... a plain 3005:

http://www.amazon.co...rinter/dp/B000JL959C

$89 refurbished or $45 used. My guess is that it would cost more to repair than to replace it with a refurb. If you have a "callout" fee for a service guy, most likely that itself would pay for one.

And the ~dn model:

http://www.amazon.co...LFAQE/ref=pd_sim_e_5

A bit more expensive, but marginally. $140 for a refurb.

I liked it. No nonsense included - less than 200 pages.

Ah! That's good! Far too many books just blather on with complete nonsense that just wastes your time. I really like when they just cut to the chase and get to the point.

I might just take a detour to browse through it.

Explains why Euro was created in the first place and why the current system is flawed.

Heheehe! ;D I'm tempted, but I'll keep the cynicism out. ;)  (I've got a rather dim/dark/cynical view of the Euro and the motivations/justifications/rationalisations for it.)

NSA-Spying-Public-Apathy.jpg

2911
On their wedding night, the young bride
Approached her new husband and asked
For $20.00 for their first lovemaking
Encounter.
In his highly aroused state,
Her husband readily agreed.
This scenario was repeated each time they made
Love, for more than 40 years, with him thinking that it was a
Cute way for her to afford new clothes and other incidentals that
She needed.
Arriving home around noon one day, she was
Surprised to find her husband in a very drunken state.
During the next few minutes, he explained that
His employer was going through a process of corporate
Downsizing, and he had been let go.

It was unlikely that, at the age of 59, he'd be able to find
Another position that paid anywhere near what
He'd been earning, and therefore, they were financially ruined.

Calmly, his wife handed him a bank book which
Showed more than forty years of steady deposits and interest totaling
Nearly $1 million. Then she showed him certificates of deposits issued
By the
bank which was worth over $2 million,
And informed him that they
Were one of the largest depositors in the bank.

She explained that for more than
Three decades she had 'charged' him for sex,
These holdings had multiplied and these were the
Results of her savings and investments.

Faced with evidence of cash and investments
Worth over $3 million, her husband was so astounded he could
Barely speak, but finally he found his voice and blurted out,
'If I'd had any idea what you were doing,
I would have given you all my business!'

That's when she shot him.

You know, sometimes, men just don't know when
To keep their mouths shut

^^ To be honest, it's hard to trust anything or anyone. We know that Google/MS/Apple/etc. are all in bed with the NSA, so it's not a stretch to guess that McAfee/Symantec/etc. are as well. My guess is that it's probably safer to bet on smaller players that aren't in the US. But, it's always a tough call to say who to trust...

But for the "concept" - it's a solid concept to block loggers.

Thanks.  I fail to see how I could get to jail by reading this.  Unless it's an alien jail and I get abducted...

That's not what I was referring to.

I'll confirm if someone posts, but I won't post it myself. Yes. It's that likely to start fights and quickly degenerate into complete chaos and name calling. It's impossible to look at the facts and reconcile them with popular belief.

good luck with that one!  i've skimmed through it a couple of times, really interesting.  i wish i could find more online academic debates for the book instead of the conspiracy-focused thoughts people usually write about it.

"Academics" do not participate in anything that has not been accepted by the establishment and avoid the appearance of controversy. Well, unless... I'll skip that part... :P

If you'd like some really deep, bleeding-edge, uber-controversial, socially unacceptable "conspiracy" stuff that's so wild that it can quite literally get you thrown in prison, read the front page of the January 2nd, 1945 New York Times. :P (I'm not kidding.)

If you dig enough into history, you're going to find some very uncomfortable and inconvenient facts.

Living Room / Re: Apple vs. Samsung Goes NUCLEAR!
« Last post by Renegade on August 06, 2013, 12:15 AM »
In the industrial world that's the whole patent game. They're used to form cartels to make sure nobody who isn't part of the club (or big enough to buy in) gets a seat at the table. If you have a warchest full of patents you get a cross licensing deal. If all you've got is a great product you get sued into oblivion. Samsung fully expected Apple to just buy in because that's the way the game is played. Steve Jobs thought he'd use patents the way they're supposedly intended and screwed up everything.

I've got no sympathy for either side. Steve Jobs was a brilliant CEO but also a whiny baby who was all for copying until he was the one being copied. Then it was theft. Samsung is a government backed anti-competition machine that suckers other companies into paying for their R&D as supposed partners. They break up a couple years later and Samsung gets the goldmine while their partner just gets the shaft.

Honestly they deserve each other. The problem is we don't.

Yes! THAT! +1! ;D

I've been reading this elsewhere too... had to look up what FRAND meant.  So is it possible that this wasn't political... it might have that appearance, but perhaps it's also just the right thing to do?

Excuse me while I choke on a patent for a rectangle with rounded corners...

*cough*hack*wheeze*choke*puke*hack*spit*cough*

:P

333 * 2 = 666

;)

Or perhaps 222 + 222 + 222 = 666. :P

From the Apple Insider article:

The problem with paying Samsung insane fees for invalid patents that were already licensed

That is simply not accurate. Licenses are not always transferable and it is up to the licencor to determine transferability. FRAND is joke. It's just a way for companies to bitch and complain. If it weren't a joke, we wouldn't have publishers suing university students to stop them from buying books from home and selling them at school. It's a sick, sick joke.

I am *NOT* advocating the insanity. I am merely pointing it out. (As the following paragraph there does in a very muddled way.)

I probably know a hell of a lot more about Samsung internals than most of these reporters. (And I wish I could blab some about it... sigh... But I don't think that anything is really all that secret if you just look at what they are doing and have a clue about the industry.) Suffice it to say that these battles are vicious. There is blood on everyone's hands here.

This latest one though... wow... It pulls in campaign contributions. Makes me wonder what those numbers will look like in a few more years. ;D

Do you read any alternative media?

Seldom. Or at least not deliberately/

I just read. A lot. Of anything I can get my hands on. I'm sort of with Charles Forte who suggested we need to look at everything - and not just throw out the stuff that doesn't fit in with what we either "know" or believe to be possible. "Catalog everything. Then file it away for future review and correlation." he used to say.

Do that long enough and patterns and connections start emerging. Patterns and connections that often get confirmed as being accurate by the events which follow. In time it becomes crystal clear what forces are at work for what ends. After that, it gets very depressing. ;)

So no, I don't consciously seek out alternative reporting. I just read. And I ignore conspiracy theories and simply wait for the wheels within wheels to reveal themselves.

(Note: I got nothing against conspiracy theories per se. It's just that I can spin far more creative and scarier conspiracy theories than any I've ever be told. So if I feel the need for one, I'll just come up with one on my own. >:D)

You really should try more alternative media. You might be surprised at what you read/find.

The vast majority of alternative media is just reporting that short tidbit you get in the MSM on page 47. A lot have extensive commentary. You will find few "conspiracy theories" in alternative media.

What's really messed up is you have these guys pointing out basic facts available to anyone, and a MASSIVE number of people screaming about how they are lunatics. At the end of the day, it's just that kid saying, "The Emperor has no clothes." But, somehow that's still taboo. (What's really messed up is how the people screaming at the "conspiracy theorists" are the same ones praising how beautiful the Emperor's clothes are.)

Now, if *I* were to spin out a conspiracy theory, you'd better bet for damn sure that it would involve elder gods better left unnamed that are entering our universe though dedicated minions spread throughout the globe and that some of them have spawned with human beings, and now walk among us...
