Everything is ready to go I'm just haggling on server hosting costs and what company to go with.

The provisioning of our new official servers is now complete!!!


I will post much more about the process, the company chosen to be our provider, the specs of the new servers, in the next couple of days.
(We will have a fundraiser later this year to pay for it!)


I am extremely excited about the entire process -- the main site upgrade to a proper CMS, the new servers, the new member server setup, etc.


We will be migrating to the new servers in the coming week or two.. I will post more details as it is about to happen, but you can expect some hiccups as we change over, and the site may be unreachable for a day or so as the DNS propagation happens.

Updated first post with link to download premade books with 100 games.

For those who haven't tried playing this, I can't emphasize how good a two-player game this is for couples.  It can be played while casually sitting in a room in different locations and is fun, challenging, and thought-provoking.  And it is a way to get to know each other's way of thinking, and gives you something to talk about afterwards.

Note that this game plays very well over the phone, by text, by email, etc. -- players do not have to be in the same physical location.

Report your best scores for specific game id#s and we can compete/compare to see which team can get the highest score on each game.

You know I actually wrote code to scale icon button icon sizes recently.. and used it in my LaunchBar Commander app.  It shouldn't be too hard to port this code over to Screenshot Captor and let users customize toolbar button icon sizes in SC..

2. Subscribe to this thread to get email alerts when someone posts

My larger applications have built in version checking, but not minicap.


Note: We are in the process of moving to a completely new CMS system for the website -- its possible with that we can set up some better email notification thing when apps are updated.

Most of my apps auto-update their version info, but minicap doesn't, and I admit I have been careless about minicap versioning..
I will try to release a new version this week and clear up the confusion.

The code supports alternative languages -- both for the word lists and optionally for the instructions and other texts.

I have someone making a full japanese translation but I could use other language translations if anyone is willing to help.  Anyone?

Assuming it is 'backward compatible' with current tables on pages, it should be easy to adopt this

It's not -- it looks like none of the table plugins are.

Basically with this plugin, and with the other ones I saw, you create a custom table object in a different area of your dashboard, and maintain all tables there.  And then you simply insert tables on pages or in posts by linking to them with shortcode like [table #4].

Hi Ath. I appreciate your willingness to slog through something new.  Change is always painful.

But I do believe this is going to be a much better and long-term maintainable, and secure, solution for all dc member pages.

creating a Page in WP is a bit tedious when using tables.

I'm happy to add another table plugin -- sounds like a good idea.  I'm sure we can find a good one.
If anyone has a wordpress table plugin to recommend let me know! Free is better but I'm open to purchasing one-time pay plugins.  Security is the #1 thing I look for, though for a table plugin that shouldn't be an issue.

Current DCMembers server provides the subdomain url [userhandle].dcmembers.com, but the current setup (only) has dcmembers.com/[userhandle] Can that be configured in some way? Or will it 'cost' an extra domain name? I don't mind both, but having the subdomain configuration would be nice, keeping url's (and typing-memory) the same

I think we should be able to handle the subdomain case again, but i have to look into it.. I know that we can handle the even better scenario of using your own domain name.  The latter seems to me a better long term solution since you will have ownership of it and could point it at a different server if for some reason in the future you wanted to move.  The only downside of this is it would cost you $12/year to purchase a domain name.

Yes. My suggestion is to start by creating a new clip in your Favorites folder, and just try something like:  {sendkeys}123{TAB}456.
And then go into notepad and use the quick paste hotkey to paste this clip and watch how it pastes and make sure it works as expected.

I thought your mention of send keys meant that this was a functionality of Clipboard Help and Spell.

Hmm, well it is a functionality of CHS -- its a feature that lets CHS interpret your request to generate/simulate special keys and send them to a target window.  It does give CHS some minimal macro program facilities.

Normally CHS performs a clip paste by putting some text on the clipboard and then triggering a Ctrl+V to paste the clip into an active window.

But some programs do not support Ctrl+V for pasting, which is one situation where using {sendkeys} can be useful.

Another situation is when you are pasting into a program that is looking at each keypress individually and requires {sendkeys} in order to properly receive tabs or dashes, etc.

Let me explain a little about the idea..

Normally you have a clip in your database that contains text or an image.

The special sendkeys option allows you to create a clip that sends special characters to a target window WHEN IT IS PASTED INTO THAT WINDOW.

So, as per the example in the help file, if your clip text is:
{sendkeys}1111{TAB}2222{TAB}3333

Then when you attempt to paste this clip into a target application (via the quick paste menu for example), then it will try to send the keys to the target application as if you typed 1 then 1 then 1 then 1 then tab etc..

You can also use this {sendkeys} prefix for the quick formatting preset feature.

So if we take your request:

What I would like to do is send a shift + tab key combination followed by a copy command 4 times

It would probably be a clip (or a formatting preset) that looked something like:
{sendkeys}+{TAB}^C^C^C^C

that should send shift-tab followed by four Ctrl+C (copy) keys.

I'm getting this codes from the sendkeys help page in CHS help file.

The +{TAB} is a bit unusual, youd have to test that to make sure it works.. if that doesnt work you might try +({TAB})

The new cms version of the site will should go live this month in December, and I expect will happen simultaneously with a server move (the first since 2010).

Looks like it won't happen until sometime in January.  Everything is ready to go I'm just haggling on server hosting costs and what company to go with.

The SendKeys functionality is definitely an area that only a handful of people have ever played with -- and I'm not in that handful 
I'd love to hear what you discover and a video would be awesome.  While I can't help much, I can promise that if you find things you can't do I can try to add features to help.
My only advice is to start simple.
The sendkey stuff is from TPushKeys and there is some code to download there if that would help you to see what functions are available.
