those easy prototype things are nice ideas, but you know with the new Borland releases of Turbo editions, i think you are better off "prototyping" your interface in delphi or c++ builder, where you can make it into something real if the urge strikes you.  the visual designer is quite powerful.  might be a little bit harder but the payoffs of having a real language and compiler are significant.

I think the most interesting thing about it is this:

EXPORT:
Export your site to a zip file. This can be useful if you want to host your site on a different server, or to back up your site for recovery purposes.

so this looks like this is one of those rare online tools that doesnt want to lock you into hosting something on their site so they can monetize you.

it would be nice to assign hotkeys to different clips and text transformations - def seems like a good idea.
in this case ahk would also be a very good and quicker solution than waiting for me to add it :)

well there are tools for doing this for like presentations, designed for minimal interactivity and mainly linking back and forth between screens.

But is the main aim to make the screens look really nice, or does that not matter?  That will have a big effect on what you need to use i think.

jgp since you are having to learn php and html forms and stuff, i agree that sounds like your best way.

i find flash HORRIBLE for gui stuff.

you could use delphi or c++ builder if you want to make a standalone application.

this is a very good idea; but it seems like there must be some rss reader that either has this or could add this if its open source.  not really cause for writing a new rss reader is it?  still a good idea. i seem to remember an rss like thing with reg ex pattern matching.. could have been a web service..

i am a HUGE fan of Beyond Compare;
for open source you might also try WinMerge (http://winmerge.org/)

well if you're willing to keep testing, i'm willing to keep working on it, you just have to give me a few days.  since some of my programs are working for you, it's got to be something simple.  my guess is still the tray minimizing thing.

if you have an expensive AGP card, then that will narrow down your search to agp motherboards which are few are far between now.

the ide drives are something you need to think about.
sata interface is NOT compatible with ide drives.  if you have 4 ide drives that you want to mount inside your pc you need to look for a motherboard with 4 ide interfaces, which is not common these days, but you may be able to find one with sata and 4 ides, which would be ideal.  alternatively you could get new sata drives and use your ides in an external drive racks for backup purposes.

onboard sound is reasonable these days.

onboard video is less so; if you want to run graphics heavy stuff like games, youll want a graphics card.

im guessing you will need to buy new memory.

question: do you already have a secondary pc? if not, my advice might be to build a new machine, and just do the minor stuff to make this current one a frankenstein secondary machine.

it's definitely not .net
but i wonder if it's something about the tray minimization stuff...
maybe something that blackbox is trying to catch..
let me try to think of a good way to test this theory.

truly strange.. i'm trying to think what could cause it..
could i get you to try installing another program of ours, let's say:

LaunchBar Commander: https://www.donation...unchBarCommander.exe

or Screenshot Captor: https://www.donation...ScreenshotCaptor.exe

and see if you get same crash.  if so, then we know its one type of thing.  if its only FARR then it's something else.

:) always happy to help out someone with a sense of humour :)

what operating system are you using?

latest version is here, v1.13.01:
https://www.donation.../FindAndRunRobot.exe

make sure you dont have old version running when you install the new one, but you dont have to uninstall.
though it might be useful to delete the existing FindAndRun folder in Program Files\ just in case you had some settings that are somehow corrupt.

you shouldnt have any problems using the same bay for dif drives, i do it all the time. nothing should get confused.  just make sure you use whatever procedure you need to for the swapping hardware.  ie: ide drives in racks need the machine to be rebooted, usb externals need you to use the windows system tray thing to disconnect hardware.

as for accidentally deleting stuff, you could give it clear long name or something.  it's good you are aware of this possibility.  one regularly hears stories of people formatting the wrong drive.  the best cure for this is to pause before you are doing anything serious and ask yourself, am i sure this is the right drive i am about to erase..

UPDATED: WINNER POSTED

Ok.. we've got something seriously special for you programmers in November...

Chris Hanscom from Veign.com (and a longtime member of DonationCoder) has generously donated a super-tricked out version of Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite with MSDN Premium Subscription for us to give away to one very lucky programmer.

The suite includes includes every piece of software that MS makes for development purposes: Visual Studio, all Microsoft Operating Systems, all software development platforms, lots of MS applications (all the Office products), mappoint, SQL Server, and also includes the full MSDN library on DVD plus online access. It's valued at over $10k.

- click here to enter -
deadline is November 25th, 2006

NOTE: This giveaway is for serious programmers only, but you do not need to be a supporting member of DonationCoder.com to enter.  If you have friends who are programmers but don't hang out at DC, please feel free to send them the link - we'd like the prize to go to someone who can really put it to use.

The prize cannot be resold and will be issued in the winners name with licensing being controled by Microsoft. As Microsoft is issuing the subscription, Veign and DonationCoder cannot be held liable for anything relating to this giveaway (to include, but not limited to, cancellation of subscription by failing to follow the licensing rules set forth by Microsoft or by attempting to resell any software included in the subscription).  So we ask that only serious programmers enter.

Developer's Corner / The Open Source Web Design Project
« Last post by mouser on November 01, 2006, 04:21 AM »
Looks like a very cool site.  It was mentioned on http://microisvjournal.wordpress.com/ in the context of a trick to get yourself a link from a high pagerank page, which i find kind of sad and depressing; this is the internet state of affairs these days, everything is about how to figure out how to get linked from certain pages because the almighty google search engine algorithm gives you a better score when you do..  :(  but anyway, it still looks like a nice site.

To put it simply, Open Source Web Design is a collection of web designs submitted by the community that anyone can download free of charge!
The Open Source Web Design project was founded in September, 2000 by Francis J. Skettino. The goal was to provide the Open Source community with quality web designs to help get people's projects on the web in a way that is both organized and good looking. From personal blogs to content managements systems to full fledged businesses, OSWD has been providing free web designs to those who need them for years. With your help, we will continue to do this for years to come.
