Yeah I think this is not a direction we want to be going here on DonationCoder.  While there are surley cases where you bought a game and want to be able to play it in peace, this is just not the kind of think i think we want to be associated with there i think..

General Software Discussion / Re: Simple, freeware, soundcard output recorder?
« Last post by mouser on December 21, 2006, 11:23 AM »
one thing that's important is that:
i think people are suggesting programs to record audio from one of the sound card LINE IN ports.
but it seems to mean you want to do basically a loop-back type of recording, recording from the sound card's own output.

Total Recorder is the grandfather of all such apps and is a seriously powerful tool; it is shareware but not terribly expensive.

Some soundcards may let you select "what you hear" as the input line, in which case the normal programs above would probably work..

Let us know what you finally go with.

Have you always dreamed of being immortalized in a program easter egg?

Any honorary/supporting/charter members here who want to have an easter egg in FARR, just message me the following:

The PHRASE the user types + the result you want displayed (should be just a few words or website; if its a website the user can click the result to go to your website)

Note that in order to ensure that this wont eat up any cpu cycles, the easter eggs will only activate if the user types the word 'easter' in front of your special phrase.

NOTE:
your phrase MUST be longer than 8 letters and contain at least 2 words

The best one i know of (not that i know the field all that well) is ReaCoverter, but it's *not* free by any stretch of the imagination:
Rea Converter - http://www.reasoft.c...oducts/reaconverter/
Price ranges from $25 to $99 (ouch!)

I look forward to hearing about the best free one from other members..

nudone the artifacts on your round running mans are a bit distracting to me..
could you attach your original squarish one above, i kind of liked that one.

ps.
confirmed i have added the ability to select from a few preset icon images, so users can choose :)
included so far are:
original
nudone's enhanced
tuckndar's purple
hamradio's F
nudone's F Key

so here is your change to be immortalized forever in farr by submitting an icon.

ps.
i'd say my favorites are (in no particular order)
hamradio's F, nudone's F Key, TuckNDar's Purple

for those who like the running man, tuckndar's looks pretty nice in the tray i think.

farr has options to show the edit box a the bottom of the window, instead of top by default, and to hide the statusbar completely.  does anyone use either of these options?

if you have a 5yr old motherboard, perhaps the answer is to buy a new motherboard (or new computer?).  I realize that's easy to say and not so easy to afford, but at some point trying to upgrade these things is more trouble than its worth..

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Mini-Review of Fineprint (Virtual Printer)
« Last post by mouser on December 20, 2006, 12:17 PM »
I will contact clickbook makers and see if they want to offer a discount as well;
it would be really nice if patteo or someone else with familiarity with fineprint wanted to do a little mini-review of clickbook, to explore which areas they each excel in, etc.  Patteo are you sure you don't want to write such a mini-review?

NOTE:
this is why those of you sitting on your credits should be sending some to patteo and other reviewers like him, to encourage more such reviews.

ClickBook can do some unique things that can be really useful if you are doing things like booklet printing, because it has additional options for laying out the pages so that they properly oriented after folding.

email them tranglos, and see what they say.  it cant hurt and most apps give free updates within 1yr.  they certainly all should.
