I thought pretty much the same as Renegade, although as soon as they found the video camera I kind of had an idea where it was going, (hence the reference I made to Das Jesus Video).

A few of good touches in it, eg. the tongue, the footprints.  When the camera is sitting on the ground with Holly and Jensen talking and the others moving around camp in the background, it took my brain about 15-20 seconds to realise that something else had moved even further in the background.  From then on I started paying more attention to what happened in the background :)

The way they interwove facts about the incident into the story was done rather well I thought.

But don't forget the msf files from TB
I usually collect some emails to my folders in eml format, but the gross is in msf format.

Each Thunderbird mail folder is stored in two files named after this mail folder name:
  •    File with no extension stores email messages in the plain text format, one after one. This file is larger than the MSF index.
  •    A corresponding (smaller) .MSF file contains mail folder indexes and preference data. Thunderbird figures out what part of the message to be displayed, the order of messages within a folder, and the like - all based on the .MSF file information. It is important to note that .MSF files do not contain any email messages and, all in all, are redundant. Thunderbird will rebuild .MSF files as needed if they are missing.

MSF files are just indexes, all your emails are stored in plain text in the files with no extension, eg. Drafts, Sent Mail

Agree. We can thank the Blair Witch Project for coming up with the concept (gimick?) that set the stage for an endless stream of low-budget and indie copycats.

OMG, the number one mistake made by some of them - you don't get timers showing how much tape/battery you have left, or anything else you'd expect to see in the viewfinder of a camera, on the supposedly "found" footage.

You can watch it in full on YouTube here or here. Not HD by any stretch, but it's adequate for viewing.

It's also available for 720p HD download on VODO.

I'm not quite sure I'd class that one as "found" footage since the survivors brought it back with them :)

I watched it not long after it's release and although I found it entertaining enough to watch all the way through, there was a bit too much seemingly mindless running around, night-vision, yelling, etc, that seems to characterize these types of film - unfortunately, in this case it's mostly what you'll get when it's all done in the dark.

Just watched The Dyatlov Pass Incident - another FFF, (Found Footage Film).

images.jpg

It's a "what if" film based on a true event, Dyatlov Pass Incidentw.
The Dyatlov Pass incident generally refers to the mysterious deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains on the night of February 2, 1959.

All-in-all, I find FFFs rather tedious and boring but this one I rather enjoyed, mixing references to The Philadelphia Experiment and Das Jesus Video, and I always love the remote Russian scenery.

Apparently I don't need the premium service. I pointed my phone at what I thought was a plane and used the subsequent deposit to identify a seagull.

Consider yourself lucky it wasn't Superman  ;D

Updated OP with a bit more info.

You need to go to the full reply editor by clicking Preview.

Or figure out where they go when I get them.

I'll leave you to figure that one out  ;D

Silicon Chip just ran an article on the ADS-Bw system that's been fully implemented in Australia since 2009 and is being progressively implemented around the planet.  It ties in with an article they did on AISw 4 years ago so I thought others might be interested in forfeiting a few hours on these  ;D

If you want the issues for the full articles, they're available for a fee from Silicon Chip: August 2009 and August 2013 - the two links will take you to the relevant issues, you can view the first couple of pages of the article for no fee which will give you idea of what AIS and ADS-B are about.

The August 2013 issue also includes information on setting up your own ADS-B receiver using a common USB DVB-T receiver.

Anyway, on to the time wasters:

Marine Traffic

Hover over the vessel and you'll see its name, speed, and course.

2013-09-08 13_12_52-Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions - Pale Moon.png

Click on it and you may get more info:

2013-09-08 13_13_17-Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions - Pale Moon.png

Air Traffic - Flightradar24

Hover over an aircraft and you get its identification:

2013-09-08 13_18_03-Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! - Pale Moon.png

Click on it and a slide out panel opens:

2013-09-08 13_20_35-Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! - Pale Moon.png

If you click on the 3D button under the aircraft info, you'll get a cockpit view if you have the Google Earth plugin installed, (which I don't).

The Premium service of FlightRadar24 will allow you to point your smartphone camera at a overflying plane and have it identified.

Have some fun:

Addendum: Forgot to mention, not only can you track aircraft but if you go to Live ATC, (the site was down when I tried), you can apparently listen to Air Traffic Control give directions for any aircraft you may be watching, (you need to find the correct ATC area).

So i broke down and got myself a new router (ASUS Dual-Band Wireless-N 600 Router RT-N56U).

...

So I'm using stock firmware on this for now; i *MIGHT* put tomato on this router, i might not.

I don't think you'll need to worry about that decision because Tomato is for Broadcom based routers.

The RT-N56U is based on a Ralink chipset and if Info Depot is correct, it's not supported by any other firmware either.  It's also listed in the DD-WRT database as being unsupported.

Ooppss! There is another firmware for it - see lanux128's post below.

frankly . . . I did not know about this...
this is, or course, much easier!

Well someone wanted a context menu and at the time I didn't know they were using DOpus - so it just continued that way.  :)

I've been having a play with VB 2010, there's a nice example of a context menu handler since only one executable would be required then ... but definitely don't hold your breath since the BASIC I learnt bears no resemblance to this thing.
2838
Just in case you're wondering, the seemingly convoluted DOpus setup is really only so you get the particular context menu in DOpus and not Explorer or any other file manager.

You could just as easily have a button in DOpus:

I've gotta say it dcwul62 - you make the classiest screenshots on dc!

Might as well cancel it. The screen buffer isn't that big so it'll only have the last 320 lines of the dump when it finishes.

Turn on PuTTY's logging   ;)

FCC ID: I88C1000Z

https://apps.fcc.gov...amp;fcc_id=I88C1000Z

Looks like they actually came up with a new model for CenturyLink, rather than rebadging one of their existing models.

Going by the pictures at CenturyLink, the Zyxel VMG1312-B series might be the closest Zyxel standard model.

A bit of searching has failed to find anything for that re. loopback.

Have you tried typing help at the telnet prompt ?  Who knows it may spit out a list of commands.

Yep. But I'm not sure which one, if any, will do what I'm trying to do.
 (see attachment in previous post)

Well, there aren't that many - if you leave out the obviously nothing to do with it ones, (eg. reboot, loglevel, dumpsysinfo, etc), and try getting the extras functions of the other commands, one of their parameters may be relevant.

eg.

wan help

About the only thing I can think of trying without fluking it in a search.  Sorry I can't be more help.

Just as an aside, the ActionTec C1000A, (supposedly also used by CenturyLink), has been reported as having no NAT loopback in an Amazon review.  The same may apply to the Zyxel.

SetFolDate v0.3.0.6

I'll update the previous posts later, but for now.

Added: Recursion
Added: Date Limit - select to not allow date changes older than 01-Jan-1980
Change: Main dialog now opens somewhere near the mouse instead of the screen centre

Problem is your Zyxel C1000Z appears to be an ISP specific, (as in appearance/firmware), incarnation of one of the normal Zyxel VDSL2 modem/routers - so who knows what CenturyLink may or may not have incorporated into it.

Any chance of doing an FCC ID search, it may give us the real model.

Have you tried typing help at the telnet prompt ?  Who knows it may spit out a list of commands.

BTW, won't your games take an IP address to connect to, (in which case you could use the LAN IP) ?

On my old Zyxel P660 you had to telnet into the router and enter: ip nat loopback on

This is only saved until the router reboots, so you have to edit a file, (whose name escapes me atm), to have it done at every power on.  I'll check through my old files and see if I can dig the filename out.

Here we go: autoexec.net

sys edit autoexec.net

And add the ip nat loopback on to the end of it.

Of course, if your ISP hasn't given you the password to access telnet, or disabled it somehow - you're screwed.

ADrive - No Capcha or waiting period, a shared file is sent immediately.

Sign up for the Personal Basic plan which is free. (Clarification: They don't need to sign up, just you.)

Oh, btw, can de reg-entry be deleted, or should it still remain in place?

If you don't intend ever using the Explorer based version then you can delete it, (or select Remove if you run SetFolDate.exe).

hi 4wd - question: I am not sure how recursive works. Cud you give me a hint?
when is not greyed out?

2. Yes, there is a Recurse checkbox there but it's disabled for a reason, ie. it doesn't work yet.

At a guess, I'd say when I actually put it in  ;)

The context menu is there alright, but I got an error.

Oooppss, typo.

Use the file menu in the Customise window: File->Import

er yeah, my fault - that's a picture of the Editing dialog rather than New... dialog.

Choose Run an Opus function, then select Adjust_Timestamp from the Command list, (which will only show up if you imported the command file Adjust_Timestamp.ouc).
