I use mirc with the acidmax script (www.tnexgen.com). Great combo plus auto-update

General Software Discussion / Re: foobar...honestly...WTF?! WTF?!
« Last post by Josh on September 27, 2006, 04:33 AM »
I've often wondered the same thing. I use ZP which is an all in one media player, which is what I need. I do not want a separate application for audio and one for video. I have no need for that type of setup.

Foobar is a nice app, but, its never been my cup of tea. I agree with you JJ, I do want to know if perhaps I am just missing something.

Yeah, it is a nice find for the users who would use it, however, I've purchased NOD32 and I am now hooked!

Living Room / ATM Hacking - Too easy?
« Last post by Josh on September 21, 2006, 07:26 AM »
Apparently a guy has reprogrammed an area ATM to think it had $5 bills as opposed to $20's and as such was giving out far more money than it should have. Take a look

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmW_4R81jVU

There is a news report of it.

Here is a blog for further discussion

This is true, but alcohol 52% is an EMULATION program only, not a ripping utility.

Is this a surprise being that there are many FREEWARE tools which offer more features and functionality? They couldnt have been getting many sales from this.

General Software Discussion / Re: idea for donation coder CD
« Last post by Josh on September 20, 2006, 03:33 AM »
I agree with mouser and app's takes on this. In fact, I think I recommended this to mouser a few weeks ago.

Making another bootable CD with rescue tools is not needed, however one with all of the donationcoder.com software would be a great idea as we could make a nice autorun interface that allows users to install all of the apps from DC.COM (at the time) that they use in one foul swoop.

Living Room / Re: What slows Windows down? See for yourself....

You know what I hate is how every app and its mother feels it has to be loaded at startup to provide "quicker access". This causes many problems on most of the systems I've troubleshot. I am sorry, but a paint program doesnt need a tray icon or a startup program to provide me quicker access to it.

IMO, the sims are overrated. It loses its novelty after a few hours of play. Even the sims 2, there wasnt anything there to "WOW" me.

Actually, Ken recommended that to me. However, I love the customizability of ZP. Gom is great, and does work really really well, but I am a tinkerer, and as such, love a plethora of options.

They were right on diablo 2 and warcraft 3 being in the top 10, but where are games like BF2 of Doom3/Quake4. Those should easily make top 10.

General Software Discussion / Re: How do you organize your email?
« Last post by Josh on September 13, 2006, 03:19 AM »
Basically, I have a section for newsletters, with a subfolder for each particular letter associated with a message filter. I have a personal folder with sub folders for family, financial stuff, important (subfoldered) and software reg info for when I buy something. Then I have a misc folder for stuff that I just store to have in case.
