I think the -500 thing might be the cause of the problem -
since i have a multimonitor setup, -500 seems to put it floating on the other monitor :)

How about simply do an Application->Minimize() after it starts?

is there an ahk option to not show an icon?
#NoTrayIcon

Hmm.. yeah but is there an easier way to do it?

i'd also love for skrommel to show me how to make a custom icon.

Crono, i'd love to hear the ideas, especially after you use theirs for a while.  You can email me directly if you like ([email protected]).

Thanks App. I normally prefer editing my xml pad files by hand, but figuring out the program category official names are a pain, and these pad creation programs can really help.

Let's make a nice list of the top places to submit files.  I'll post my favorite places soon.

Note: You really need to have a proper little permanent web page for your program if you are going to create a pad file and submit it, rather than simply attaching it to a forum thread.

We are absolutely more than happy to provide permanent web space at http://YOURCHOICE.dcmembers.com for anyone who has freeware or donationware programs they want to put up, just send me a message.

[You are welcome to put google ads or whatever on the page - you don't have to credit us or anything - we just ask that you not break any laws with the space or host anything else that would end up causing massive traffic.]

There are other places to get free web hosting as well if you like, perhaps people can share their favorite places.

thats expensive isnt it... i should make a similar tool using screenshot captor engine..

It's an ahk script - what that means is you could combine it with other ahk script and have only one ahk icon in the tray.

Welcome highflier,

There have been a few similar requests to this, regarding memory usage, and/or taming to reduce absolute cpu usage not just priority changing.. I am going to give some thought to this..

Spoiler
I also think he looks a lot like a duck.
It has been suggested that he is not from earth so i vote that he is a Space Bird Duck, the alien ancestor of all ducks+birds on planet earth.

ATTENTION!!

If you see a NANY program you like, send a few donation credits to the author! (click gold coin next to their name).

Even if you only send 10 cents (0.1 credits), the gesture alone will be a nice way to say thank you to the authors for participating in this fun project, and ensure we will have another nice NANY next year!  Just click on the gold coin next to the author's name to send them some credits.

This seems really fun..
Can you give us little background on the rules, where the images come from, etc.  What are the timer settings, etc.
A little README maybe?

I just got around to trying this now.. love it  :-*
this is definitely the l33t tool to impress and mystify your friends.

ps.
i get same error when invoking about box.

ps2.
on start it shows an empty form on screen which has to be minimized in order for it to dissapear - would be nice to have this fixed so the program can be happily run at startup.

We thought this was a crazy spam post before we checked out the link to the text colorizing software.

That company has some interesting soft.
Here's a free one on their page that people were looking for a while ago:

Mousotron keeps track of how much you move or click your mouse.
Also the number of keystrokes is measured.

Mousotron is basically just fun, but it can also be a very handy tool in RSI prevention (Repetitive Strain Injury) or the rehabilitation of it.

You can also post your scores online automatically and compare with other users.

Glad to have you here and with us for the new year.  Make yourself at home :)

ps. Della says i got some of the death audio clips in the wrong places.
ps2. The intention was for this to be an online playable flash thing - which I'm happy to implement if anyone ever actually makes a realy story/game with it.

Here's a sample PAD file from one of my programs, it can get you started (make sure you change all the info about author, company, etc.):

And very important, here are two online pad validator tools (never submit a pad file without first validating it):

There are also some free pad file tools out there, let's find and post some.
28222
I think we need a sticky thread here where we can post tips and tutorials for how to announce your software and make it available to the world so people can find it.

Some topics to discuss:
  • PAD files, how to make them and where to submit them.
  • Installer Tools, which to use and why.
  • Where to hosting your files, and webpage.
  • Best ways to ask for donations?

The N.A.N.Y. Challenge 2007:
New Apps for the New Year

Discuss on Special Forum Section: Here.

Ok here is my challenge to all of you with some coding skills.  Join me in pledging to release a new program/utility/game on JANUARY 1st, 2007 to celebrate the new year!

It doesn't matter how big it is, but it must go live to the public as freeware/donationware between Dec 31 and Jan 1st, 2007.

We will give out fun prizes (custom dc mugs celebrating the event or something like that), for all coders who live up to their pledges.

Ground rules:
  • You have to state you are participating well before the actual date (you shouldn't just wait until Dec 31 to reveal whether you decided to participate or not); ideally announce by posting a reply on this thread before dec 7, if possible.  DECEMBER 7 is our goal to have the pledges.
  • This can't be an update of an existing program - has to be a new program.
  • You can post the program on your own website, etc. - you don't have to be affiliated with DonationCoder.com - you still get to announce it as part of the N.A.N.Y. Challenge.
28224
still no working dampening/friction!  >:(

Living Room / Re: webhost DNS
« Last post by mouser on December 31, 2006, 05:57 PM »
hmm well i must admin i hate nameserver stuff and am largely ignorant of it.
I guess you are asking for something more than having a registrar that lets you set the dns servers for each domain name?
You are wanting to customize mx records not on the registrar end but on the web server hosting end? Not sure why you would do that, but i guess its only available if you have a substantial hosting account..
