tchikien is exactly right (it does tell you this during install but it's easy to miss).

(ps. you might be able to download the latest Indy10 and build it for c++ builder yourself with a bit of work).

I'm thrilled to announce that at long last the results of the Accessibility Game Programming Contest are now Online!

A huge congratulations to everyone who participated - we got some really fun and creative entries, and it was great to be able to bring some light to the issue of accessible gaming.

I'll probably be tweaking the contest result page for a day or so to correct any mistakes and add a little info here or there - so feel free to message me about any changes you'd like to see in your entry.

Timo,

when you apply to mod, it changes the DEFAULT theme -
it may be tht you are using a non-default theme.

in this case, see the manual instructions for changes to make to your non-default theme file.

Official Announcements / Google Ads are gone from the site once more.. Confirmed
« Last post by mouser on January 22, 2007, 10:00 AM »
Just an update to confirm that after a little over a week of trying google ads on the site we decided to remove them again, at least for another year.

The reason: They are not good.

To go into it a little more: They ugly up the site and give us back a few measly dollars per day in return for making us a walking billboard for other peoples businesses.

In truth the google ads are not all that unattractive and don't distract all that much from the site content - but it's kind of a dirty feeling to be having these ads up all over our site and then checking to see how much money google has mysteriously decided to give us at the end of the day.

Most of all, I think we can find a more creative way to use our own web space, in a way that we feel good about.  In addition to the CodyQuote boxes that have been up on the site for a while, we are going to be adding some new stuff like random program screenshots, and our own little site "banners", and other fun stuff.

And soon we will also show random little banners for supporting member web pages and projects (we won't be charging for this - we do not want to get into the advertising businesses), so we will have some rules about what we add links to.

Thanks for your support and patience during our experimentation.  Any further ideas are welcome.

I get requests to add affinity control to Process Tamer occasionally.  I'd also like to hear from people in the know how you would use such customization options to improve your pc usage.

General Software Discussion / Re: common router firewall outbound settings?
« Last post by mouser on January 22, 2007, 04:55 AM »
A firewall is really not going to stop any outbound traffic.  If you are curious in what programs try to connect out or catching them when they do, software is the only way.

A hardware router firewall can be useful as people said above, to protect you from a "Denial of Service" type flooding attack perhaps (but no individuals get that), and can protect you from some incoming stuff - but it's just not the stuff that an individual is normally at risk from.  The built in firewalls in routers really seem to be for functions that are almost entirely different from a software firewall.

General Software Discussion / Re: BORGChat - cool freeware LAN communication tool
« Last post by mouser on January 22, 2007, 04:09 AM »
the blog date and thread date are independent.  blog date just reports when a thread was blogged.  usuaully a thread will be blogged within minutes or days if its good.  in this case someone asked me about such lan tools and i found this old post on the forum that was worth blogging i thought.

Welcome Mace!
Excellent find - i will add a link to this from the review page i think.

I will add the ignore mod this week if at all possible.
There is another possibility - perhaps I can modifiy the ignore mod so that all it does is mark all posts by that person as automatically READ.  How would that be?  Then you wouldn't notice them unless you really went looking.

Hi Renox (in future you might want to make your topic more informative so people who know the info will see spot it).

As for learning the new BDS2006 - one of the delphi guys made a lot of videos demonstrating tons of features:
http://blogs.codegea.../articles/26687.aspx

As for components, I know you already know about Torry's:

And don't miss JEDI, a huge collection of free components:

the automatic network adapter detection loads a test file at donationcoder.com - ive been thinking of changing it to google or something just to reduce  people from being worries about such things.

however, if you have any concerns the solution is super simple - go to advanced mode and disable automatic network detection - that should stop it completely

ps. make sure you have latest version as well.

I've just uploaded v 2.00.37 - with TONS of improvements and changes.  I wanted to get this up tonight so i expect that there may be some oddities and little bugs, but the major functionality for v2 is all in place now.

Help items for the new stuff is still very very sparse but i'll be filling it out this week.  Feel free to ask what the new options and stuff do here if you can't figure it out.

My new favorite feature - the new skin combo box which makes it super easy to preview skins.,
