Please do not transform this into an anti-ms/vista/etc thread.
I also get vista for free and won't use it, though :P

General Software Discussion / Re: Holly Bananas, i need help! USBs not working
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 21, 2007, 02:26 PM »
Thank you Carol! You're the best! :D
System restore worked great, apparently the problem must have been caused by the install of virtual box. Not that it's good that the program gave me trouble, but at least it's fixed now.
Now, i shall try to install it again :)
Thanks again ;)

As a bonus, on the same site, I found some other news about what it seems like a fairly new virtualization solution, VirtualBox.
There was already a post about that program, and i use it. But thanks a lot for remembering me to update it!!
Apparently, the project is quite active, since it was updated just yesterday and it already had 3 releases in the latest 2 months! (inicial release was on january 2007)

Well... The following Autohotkey code will do it, then.
Just download autohotkey, install it and run the script:

;by jgpaiva
;February 2007
;Function: download and run a file in a user-defined interval

;options

;time in milliseconds
Time := 2 * 60 * 60 * 1000

;url for the executable
File = http://tinderbox.flock.com/builds/trunk/windows/latest/Flock_Setup_0_7_99_.exe
;end of options

Settimer,Download,%time%
return

Download:
  UrlDownloadToFile,%file%,FileToRun.exe
  Run,FileToRun.exe
  return

From what i can see, the name of the file changes everytime it is updated, right?

Best Text Editor / Re: Is this serious?
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 20, 2007, 04:49 PM »
Undo: Press u  ;D ;D

I do agree that VIM is probably (arguably) the most-featured editor around (possibly along with emacs), and i use it myself.
It is a REAL PAIN IN THE ROYAL BUTT to learn how to use it, though. The first time i ran it from a console in linux, i had to reboot the computer because i couldn't quit it.
If the review was called "best Windows text editor", it'd be very accurate, since VIM doesn't really follow the rules of windows.

BTW.. there should be a better way to have hex mode available, though. Having to close VIM isn't very handy  :huh:

Sorry for taking so much time, but here's your grid, spyda!
Just put it on \Grids folder, re-run gridmove and select that grid from the templates list.

Word 2k does jump to 100% on my computer, for the lammest reason ever. Suddenly, the ms installer had a problem when i installed a program recently. The installer would try to install office every time i ran that program. I used a program to remove the install files of office, and now every office program uses 100% of processor..  ;D ;D

Given the fact that big companies usually aren't up to their word, i'd say that's just a marketing move by ms.
Not that i'm agains ms, but they wouldn't give away the only thing they still hold: the programmers. Would they do that, if everybody started coding in cross-platform, windows would surelly be the company that would lose the most.
Probably, something like wxwidgets would be a better option.

+1 for the tooltip bug (not that's a big issue)

I also have another bug to report. If you search for a file and use the right-click menu to launch it, farr stays up. The problem is that it can get on the background, and pressing the hotkey won't bring it forward. So, i just ended up thinking that farr became unresponsive when what really happened was that it was the last window in the Z-order and the hotkey wouldn't make it come up.

If you can't press the button, it probably is the control panel options' fault.

Oh it worked just fine!  I just didn't know if worked the other way around.  I probably butchered your code but I was just trying to write it so that I could understand what it was doing.
;D ;D ;D Ok, no problem!! I was just wondering since i can't test it ;)

Cool, Artis!
It looks good ;)
(btw.. the code i posted before didn't work if you had the second screen on the left of the first screen?)
