By the way, I'm reading some things about FARR v3 here and there, and the new ideas you have for it. Where do you discuss them? In the forum or in the chat room?

FARR v3 discussion is in this forum under the secret description of "FARR v2 discussion":

For those new to FARR, let me just point you to the web page: Here.
And remember thats just version 1, the alpha of version 2 is available on request, just send me a message through the forum and i'll send you the download link.

dk70, great point about checking wilders - that is definitely the place to go to get opinions on security software.

thanks for the heads up - the only program i'd consider with a yearly subscription fee is an antivirus utility.

Squeak is not "based on" smalltalk.. it *is* smalltalk.

As such it's going to be a very pure nice object-oriented language, great for understanding programming languages and concepts.

But I don't see how it is useful as a flash alternative..

for people who dont know:
Micro-ISV stands for "micro Independent Software Vendor", which is basically just a fancy name for a tiny software (shareware) company (usually consisting of just 1 or 2 people).

There are people who know about ASP and could offer you good advice.

I don't know anything about ASP so take this with a grain of salt, but unless I was working on some very specific business application that had a real good reason to be using ASP, I would much rather work with a platform neutral technology for web services, like PHP, Ruby on Rails, etc.  Just my 2 cents and I look forward to hearing from any ASP people.

I'd like to here more suggestions for this too.
For surveys, one of the best known tools is: http://www.phpsurveyor.org/ but that's not really well suited to quizes.

You can do this with my Drag+Drop Robot:

just be prepared for a little bit of a learning curve.

Make sure you guys check out the thread on the very highly regarded free Stickes program:
https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=7130.0

That's the thread where Notezilla was mentioned - seems like you should try both tools out and see which one suits you best.

Chameleon Startup Manager looks excellent but of course there are quite a few alternatives so check around.

i agree lets not get hung up over the caps lock junk.
im more interested in exactly what nontroppor says:
a unified interface to do stuff using a subject -> verb -> object concept - it is what we have struggled with in discussions here about doing stuff with the subject in FARR. I find a file, and want to mail it to someone. Or move it somewhere. Or open it in something other than the dafault app, or append some text to it, or copy its content to the clipboard, or...

as you know i've added simple actions using keyword modifiers but its not the unified interface weve discussed for version 3.

i must admit though that i've had a hard time thinking of many real world cases where the simple single-action modifiers i recently added dont handle the problem, albeit inelegantly.  i welcome more thoughts but maybe we should do it on another thread?

ive started working on plugins.

They will be automatically loaded/detected when found in the Plugins directory; there will be a tab for them in the options so you can configure each one or disable it if you dont want to use it.

Interesting.  They are going to post details about the contest today.

For those who don't know about CastleCops:
About CastleCops
CastleCops is a volunteer security community focused on making the Internet a safer place. All services to the public are free, including malware and rootkit cleanup of infected computers, malware and phish investigations and terminations, and searchable database lists of malware and file hashes.

Education and collaborative information sharing are among CastleCops' highest priorities. They are achieved by training our volunteer staff in our anti-malware, phishing, and rootkit academies and through additional services, including CastleCops forums, news, reviews, and continuing education.

CastleCops consistently works with industry experts and law enforcement to reach our ultimate goal in securing a safe and smart computing experience for everyone online.

JAlbum is one of the very best web photo album creator programs.  Version 7 was just released (history) and has some major improvements to the user interface, which is packed with options.

I've used JAlbum in the past and it's a great program with tons of different web skins that effect how your photo album looks and behaves.

Some people prefer server-based photo album software, for which there are also some good free scripts (Gallery is the big kid on the block here).  But many people prefer to have the pages generated on their local pc and then uploaded.  JAlbum is like that.  All pages are generated statically for you and you just upload the results (or let the program upload them for you).

ps. It's called JAlbum because it's written in Java - works on windows/mac/*nix.
