General Software Discussion / Re: Controlling certain facts in a folder
« Last post by skwire on December 13, 2011, 04:58 PM »
mmm skwire.
What happens with arm files from my nokia mobile ?
Dont detect.
How can I configure ?

You can't because PlayTime doesn't support that format.  For a list of formats it does support, look here:

http://mediainfo.sou...t/en/Support/Formats

Regarding PDF files, I can write you a quick app that will display how many pages a PDF file has (among other bits of PDF metadata).

Okay, the browse part is fixed now! Too bad about the slider limitation, oh well. (How hard is it to get another slider?)

I'll try to find some time to implement my Trout progress-bar-slider hack into Looper.

As for the volume, put simply, "drag the bar to the right, volume went down" (!!). This was on my home machine with Win XP

WTH? I honestly have no idea.  Are you running a custom Windows theme on your XP box?  I didn't mess with the volume code (other than to reposition the slider) in these past few updates.

Browsing now looks for "File Type B"

Fixed.  This was due to the Unicode changes I made in the last build.

Something seems fuzzy with the volume - it seems to artificially drop the volume level - for example you can raise the volume up and the act of moving the volume bar *drops* the volume, until you click the progress bar, at which point the volume comes back!

The volume control seems to work fine for me.  Drag the volume thumb to the right, the volume goes up.  Drag the thumb to the left, the volume goes down.  Maybe I'm not understanding what you're describing?  What OS are you using?  Also, any custom windows theme?

Also, the progress bar is a bit fuzzy - it wants to move in equal fifths or something, so the longer the song, the more it jumps over. With effort you can drag it, but it would be better if the bar just moved to where your mouse is, not mechanically jumping 20% ahead.

Unfortunately, this appears to be a limitation of the standard msctls_trackbar32 (slider) control.

b) In audios file control the duration in minutes.
c) In video files control the duration in minutes. Able to sum durations of all video files inside the folder and subfolders.

Check out PlayTime.

+ You can now pass a file to Looper and it will try to play it.
    + Added seekbar.  (Thanks, TaoPhoenix)
+ Volume setting is now saved.
+ Looper is now Unicode capable.  Due to this change, Looper is now only
      supported on WinXP or later.

C'mon, man, don't sugarcoat things.  Get it out.  Tell us how you really feel. :P

Two minor bugs:

When you enter a folder with a "\" at the end of the path in the Folder input box, Scud works correctly, but pastes a path with two "\" ("\\") to the clipboard, which of course then doesn't work if you try to access it in Windows Explorer.

When you accidently remove the entry in the Folder input box, Scud still is able to randomly launch a file, but pastes an incomplete path to the clipboard.

Apologies for the delay.  Both bugs should be fixed in this version.  Thanks for the report.  Download

Seems to work fine on my Droid X.  Nicely done.   :)

Sure, I can do this in one of two ways; single instance or multiple instances.  What's your pref?

skwire is still busy I guess ;D ;D

Based on my own experience working with PDF files in this manner, it's a huge pain in the arse.  Kalos, have you ever taken a look at Calibre to help manage your PDF collection?  I use it to convert stuff to read on my Android phone.

I didn't "see" any twin towers connection until I read the blurb and, even then, it's a bit of a stretch.  I'm with wraith on this one; it's halfway around the world for Pete's sake.  Reminds me of Jenga or a Wii game called Boom Blox.

Alas, I'd rather save the $249 for a new computer in 2012.

Agreed.  As slick as it appears to be, I think it's grossly overpriced.

I just noticed that all those six additions have no underlined 'trigger letter'. Pressing the listed button together with Alt works just fine, but the UI doesn't hint which letter to press.

Those aren't automatically added to a Windows form but I added them in the latest build.  Also, please let me know if the icon is fixed (again).  Download
2765
Please redownload.  This version should support 120 DPI displays.
2766
Hmm... please help me to understand.

My code doesn't affect menus, only GUI controls on the form itself.
2767
Great! Could you please use the font and font size you use for the Trout menus? It's better to read than the current one used in Scud now.

The only thing I do in my apps is put in code to ignore large-font DPI settings for GUI elements.  They're such a pain in the arse to code for, test, and support (just ask mouser).  In other words, I don't specifically change to a different font, I just restrict its size.
2768
More ideas:
- make Alt+f work as a shortcut to activate the Folder selection
- Alt+r --> Filter selection
- Alt+n --> Name
- Alt+p --> Path
- Alt+e --> Either

Done.  I also added Alt+C to toggle the clipboard option.  Please redownload.

Slick, justice.  Nice work.   :)

Great idea with the help button/functions behind it.

Thanks, even though I was lazy and didn't implement auto-saving of entered paths.

WOW! Great tool Skwire!

Thanks, glad you find it useful.
2771
Redownload it and see if this build makes a difference in regards to the icon.
2772
- an option below the folder field to specify "must match", results would be limited to matching a pattern you enter here, e.g. "vacation" would only launch files with that search string in the path

Done.

(maybe an additional option to choose if it must be in the file name or/and in the directory part of the path)

Done.

- how about an icon for Scud? The forum didn't allow to attach it, so here it is: http://www.zshare.ne...ad/96988396bf848a4c/

Done.

- how about an option/button for a random image?

Done.

I got an "error launching file" - I can start it OK from Locate, so not sure why... the only 'special' thing is that the path contains a "#" character, does AHK maybe have a problem with that?

Fixed.

New version: Scud download

Also, click the Help button to learn how to add entries to the folder and filter dropdowns.

Yes, thanks. :)

Right on.  Basically, anything you can stuff into the Windows "Run" box should work in a Snap DB cell.  BTW, nice screenshot.  Thanks for sharing.  =]

What does "Run/execute cell data" do?

It will attempt to "run" the contents of a cell.  So, say you had folder path, it would launch that folder path.  Or, the path to an exe, image file, etc.  You can also put, say, email addresses in a cell and it will launch those, too.  Kind of like a poor man's address book.  Make sense?

I noticed some of the recurring themes on implementation of requests are limited by the ListView control.  I am not much of a programmer, and even less wrt AHK, but perhaps a solution to many of these requests would be a second "read-only" mode that uses a different control for display?

Thanks for the feedback, steeladept, I appreciate it.  Yes, I'm limited in certain ways because of the listview control but I really don't mind since Snap DB serves a niche role in regards to databases.  If a user needs more than what Snap DB offers, I feel there are many solutions already out there (I use some of them).  You know?
