I will chose nothing else, but $hareware, if "free" means adverts.

^ thank you, young man (18! I'm green from envy), and welcome here at DC!

The TelRunner problem was solved back then, 1½ year ago, using Blackbird. Blackbird is apparently not updated any more, but it was really fine.

Basilisk 64 installs in Program Files\Basilisk. Yet it tells me to close Basilisk before launching Basilisk, and the only thing running was Firefox!
Because of this, I have removed it again, before closing Firefox.

The third picture in the first post ("a Clueboard Rev 2 that I paid full price for") is 4.616 KB - and that is a lot for a poor connection or a so-called smart phone.
I don't think you can see any difference between the original (huge) PNG and this (compressed to 80%) 347 KB JPG :

Clueboard 80%.jpg
-compressed jpg

So, less quality and more compression will let you upload all of your pictures into the one and same post ;-)

One big benefit of the new version is that it's much more Microsoft friendly, regarding file types.
Other than that, I have not yet used it to create, only to read.

And >>Ribbons or menus - It's your decision!
With SoftMaker Office 2018, you can switch at any time between modern ribbons and the classic user interface with menus.<<

No, you can't keep the old version, UNLESS the new is say 64-bit and the old one 32-bit. I have kept my old version 48 (32-bit), but I lost ESR 52.4 (64-bit), the one with all my favourite addons... So, yes, I am frustrated and will remove the new (and fast) version 57 right away! 57 is just a Firefox, ... but faster. ... and with less addons

The one question they don't answer in their articles is if I can keep my old version of Firefox, the one with all the addons that I have come to appreciate. The new "Firefox Quantum" still has a lot of them, just not my favourites ones.

Well, I am going to test this out right now. If I am frustrated when I return, you'll know why.

I have been testing the free Foxit Reader for a couple of days and have many good things to say about it, because it also has a free editor included. However, there is a big difference between the Reader and the Editor: the Editor does not handle Unicode! I was "shocked" to see this, but there you go.

The original in Danish:

629x390 pixels
ikke1.gif

and when the same text merely has been touched & saved by the free Foxit editor:

635x318 pixels
ikke2.gif

I am disappointed. Foxit will now leave the house.

General Software Discussion / Re: What Android Apps Do You Use?

https://en.freedownloadmanager.org/tutorials/how-to-control-your-android-phone-from-a-pc.html How to control your Android phone from a PC

There are dozens of utilities that let you access Android phones from PCs, each with its own set of useful features and connectivity modes. Some programs let you control your Android phone directly from the default web browser of your PC while others come with their own interfaces and require minimum user interaction. A good example comes from Vysor that's available as a browser extension as well as a standalone desktop program.

Programs like Vysor also come in handy to people who own an Android device with a broken screen and wish to easily handle their smartphone data from a Windows PC.

In this guide, I will teach you how to take full control of your Android smartphone directly from your PC by using the Vysor browser extension. Here's what you need to do: (read more...)

I am running Firefox ESR 52.4.0 (64-bit), but it is not perfect (...) I am clinging to it because of the addons.

important detail: one addon that makes it possible to hang on to Firefox (ESR) is "Open with.../Open link with...", button ~ right-click menu. Homepages: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-with/ + https://github.com/darktrojan/openwith. It is a very fast way to open a link in any other browser or editor.

Some people go for an ESR version or go to Waterfox or even Palemoon.

I have tried Waterfox several times. A couple of years ago I was very pleased with it, but this year I have always removed it again quite soon. At the moment I am running Firefox ESR 52.4.0 (64-bit), but it is not perfect; there are some problems with ajax or flash or whatever it is. But I am clinning to it because of the addons. I have no idea what's going on inside Mozilla's head, but it's not making sense to me.

Non-Windows Software / Code-It is now also writing for Linux
« Last post by Curt on October 28, 2017, 05:18 PM »
Beginning from 2010 I have mentioned Code-It a couple of times, first on https://www.donation....msg213723#msg213723 He ("MikeB") makes software for Windows and sells it suspiciously cheap! Now he is writing for Linux as well; I guess he likes their philosophy on pricing...

For those of you that might be interested -
I have released several new Linux software apps today.
Take a look at http://www.code-it.com/tux.html

Thanks for your continued support and have a GREAT weekend,

2018 will delete the shortcuts to 2016 in Start! But a BETA is for testing, not for replacing! It has been half an hour since I purchased 2018 and still there is no key to unlock it - meaning I had to go searching for and manually creating a shortcut to the 2016 version!   Oh, so many exclamation marks!

Windows is thinking TextDragon to be suspiciously unknown, but of course you already know this.
I didn't manage to try version 1.5 before you already had version 2.1 uploaded.

General Software Discussion / Re: New PDF editor: FlexiPDF from SoftMaker
« Last post by Curt on October 08, 2017, 10:29 AM »
^thank you, stewcam. Good to see you back after all this time. 4 years of silence? I am impressed, because I find it hard to keep quiet for 4 days!

I am interested in the pdf editor/virtual printer subject, because I have recommended the INfix Editor Pro here several times during the years (first time was in May 2009: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=18252.0).  INfix 6 is the original to FlexiPdf and Softmaker Pdf Editor. I have not tested the 'new' INfix 7, but I have license keys for versions 3, 4, 5 and 6. I should say that INfix Pro eight years ago was $300 :o  The cheapest price for the new version 7 is $89 PER YEAR, (or $89 once, and then updated for 1 year only), so I am very interested in these cheaper Ashampoo/SoftMaker versions of the same program - because I don't need INfix's expensive translation service.
