just an fyi - with armando's help, the latest versions (2.00.108) seem to be not hanging any more, but what's even better is farr comes up faster now, and try as i might i cannot get it to miss any initial keystrokes after hitting the break key.  for those who suffered from this in the past, it's no small thing to have it (apparently) fixed. yipee  :D

Living Room / Re: Firefox Bookmark tool to tag/index/search FAST?
« Last post by mouser on June 12, 2007, 09:02 PM »
FARR v2 now comes with a pre-installed firefox bookmark searching plugin (also searches IE and Opera bookmarks):
see https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=7919.0  just type and go.

ps. it doesnt yet search special firefox bookmark keywords but i'll be adding that asap.

i think this is a wonderful idea actually -- i'd love to see someone write it.
it would be nice if it could take as input the complete email received, and parse the email headers, etc.  in doing so it could also avoid being tricked by fake "from" fields, etc.

great idea -- i'd really like to see someone here write this, AFTER a comprehensive search to make sure such tools don't exist yet.  it would make a nice addon for email clients too like thebat and firebird.

it's "ignore user" im almost positive, this has come up before.
gri who is hard to understand posted a fix for this on his forum.  you could probably use that installer.

try it: http://gri.sunshineh...ndex.php?topic=267.0
direct download: http://gri.sunshineh...pic=267.0;attach=113

note that i like gri but he is a very strange bird.

can you tell me which other mods modified that area, then maybe i can make the inline attachments mod work around them?
26606
can you elaborate a little about what kind of tool youd like?

Thanks for reminding me about justice's work -- he helped to inspire me to work on mine and we should make them compatible.

It's probably just that the installer is not upgraded to the most recent version of the file its trying to update, either because you've made other changes to it, or because ive not updated it to latest smf version.
however, if you are feeling adventuresome, you can see the instructions in the mod for making the changes to the files manually.

i like the new website design a lot.

this has been asked for in various forms, and one straightforward solution might simply be to let users switch easily between configuration files.

then you could make one config file for playing games, and one for normal use, and maybe have a menu in tray to switch between them.

do you think this would be a good solution to do what you are asking?

email me for more help -- but it means what it says, non-donators need to make sure to download a free key for the program they are licensing.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: New FARR Plugin: FCalc
« Last post by mouser on June 10, 2007, 01:03 PM »
i'm really really happy to hear that you guys like it.
please keep the suggestions coming for it, i'm happy to add new stuff, and the source code for it will be released with the next plugin sdk, so people are welcome to improve it.

what i'd really like to see added is the ability to define your own functions easily.

UrlSnooper / Re: Packets are bigger than reserved buffer
« Last post by mouser on June 10, 2007, 11:45 AM »
that really shouldn't be happening.. maybe there are some setups of windows with large packets (i'm not very network savvy).  i'm suppose to release a new version of url snooper any day now and i'll try to update the maximum packet size which should solve your problem. stay tuned.

Can anyone who has experienced any hanging try downloading the new version (2.00.104) and let me know if it ever hangs on you?  Armando really helped me track down at least one potential cause of it and maybe we'll get lucky and this will put an end to all hanging bugs.

General Software Discussion / Re: File Names : what should be avoided

do not use spaces in filenames or folder names.  legal in many cases but can be a pain to work with in some programs.

some guidelines:
yes i would avoid using periods except to separate a file extension, as you will confuse programs that treat anything after the period as a file extension.
dont make 2 files with the same name except for differences in lowercase and uppercase -- windows will treat such files as having indistinguishable names.

there is a difference. +sall should show all, without it, it will still show a lot due to the new ability to specify a larger # of results when directory browsing (see options). i think.
