General Software Discussion / Re: links collector

Very good point, steve!
I haven't tried it, but that method does seem to work :D

Using httrack, you can download the whole site at once, removing non-important parts (like images and such), keeping only the html pages.
Then, there are programs that using a regular expression or such, can pick all the links from those html files. One example of such program would be powergrep.

Thank you Jgpaiva :).  So most likely, theres no way of having the possibility to add acronyms, without using that?
Well.. From what i understand, no. But notice that script is already a year old, maybe now ahk has evolved and it's possible.
The best way would be to ask in the forum of ahk..

Also, excellent job on the script, I hope to have your AHK skill one day. :)
LoL.. Thanks :)
AHK is pretty simple, just see how skrommel made his own scripts and you'll understand how it works really fast ;)

Well.. In AHK, i don't think there's a way to add new acronyms.
The only solution i found was by doing something like this: abreviations importer
That is an ahk script that reads a file in the ini form, and creates a script that does all those abbreviations.

The only problem is that everytime you want to add a new abbreviation, you have to create a new ahk file.

steeladept: I think that kalos is referring to collecting the links as he browses the web, thus, the links would have to be collected directly from the webbrowser or something like that.
At least, that's what i understand :)

What is really very weird is that on the version previous to the last one, i was observing that wrong behaviour, and now farr is perfect...

I know this'd be pretty easy: the only problem is getting the links itself, the parsing and storing part is pretty trivial.

I don't know how toget that info, though. If anyone knows how to, please just post here.

As always.. Great job, nudone!!

Find And Run Robot / Re: An idea for FARR "with this file do.." type actions
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 06, 2007, 08:05 PM »
I absolutelly love this idea!!

I just think that using | would be a bit strange, maybe hard to understand, and most possibly won't be found by someone who doesn't read the whole help file (and let's be honest: who does?)
I think that the -tab- option is better. Right now, it gets the path of the whole file on the editbox, but i see no reason why it shoudn't do what you said in the first post. Notice that if one wanted to have the directory of the file, one could just do ctrl + rightArrow, and to copy the path of the file itself, one could do arrowDown and then ctrl-c. Thus, i don't think that using tab to autocomplete files is very useful right now.

On the other hand, if we wanted the functionality refered on this post to be available for both files and folders (since one could, for example, apply the "zip" action to a whole directory), then, as tab is VERY useful with folders, it could not be used for this.

Also, another reason why i'm a bit relunctant is that | is only accessible through shift-\ in my keyboard.
2561
Now that's stupid.
And who's to tell what's a "hacker tool" or not?
network analyzers? (hopefully not those too)
Right... I've used a few of those tools when learning about internet and networkds, does that make me a hacker? How about my school, which has a bunch of those lying around?

That makes absolutelly no sense... Good thing i don't live in germany ;)

Find And Run Robot / Re: [bug report] dot in directory name
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 06, 2007, 07:18 AM »
You're absolutelly right.
Appears like farr isn't distinguishing between files and folders when it comes to present them on the results.
I bet mouser will fix this in an instant ;)
2563
Amazing!!!!  :eusa_dance: :eusa_dance: :eusa_dance:
It works great :D Credits on the way ;)

Mouser: isn't there a way for a plugin to show it's results with "+sall"?
I only have farr to show 10 results, but that's obviously too less for this plugin.
2564
Now that's a decent rant!  ;D

I also agree with your point, allen, when i tried the tool i also throught "hmm.. is this all there is to this site?".
This site is about all i hate in apple's products. First, worry about making it beautiful, then add it some functionality just to say it isn't absolutelly worthless.

BTW.. See the "your stripes" section. They actually have a whole share / comment / rate / etc system associated with the stripes each person makes! How crazy is that?

I wonder if we aren't the ones who just don't understand how important stripes are for the development of human kind ;)

Ignore the "MOVED: " threads, since those are a repetition of the real thread.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Requesting good alias files
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 04, 2007, 12:04 PM »
Here's an alias i made that allows you enter an url in farr without "www" or "http://", while not interfeering with a search by file and extension.
2567
Also, a good way to acomplish this would be by drag+drop of the file in FARR, i think.
2568
Just to cast another vote for the "kill active processes" plugin, it'd be the one i want the most.

Fantastic!!  :-* :-* :-*

Post New Requests Here / Folders with "expiration date"
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 03, 2007, 11:26 AM »
Well... A friend of mine asked me for one interesting piece of software.
Something that would create folders with "expiration date".
These folders would have the interesting feature that would be time limited, and after that time was expired, they'd be deleted.

The idea is that sometimes you have stuff that you know you won't need after some time, thus, you could just dump those in one of these temporary folders, and it'd be deleted for you.
The objective is to avoid clutter with unnecessary files, if you already know for how much time you'll need those.

So... 2 questions:
Any Sugestions on how to implement this? (I was thinking about having a program that would monitor a folder tree, and when the user created some kind of file with info about the "expiration date" of a folder, it'd be monitored and deleted when necessary).
And..
Would you use this?

Thank you!

Sorry, i can't quite understand why you want this, but i see your main problem would be organizing your MP3 collection, right?

Why not use some kind of media organizer?
Here's two threads about some of these tools:

Well.. Now that farr has this great option: "show on taskbar when active", i'd like to ask for a small fix to it.
Currently, with that option, when we alt+tab out of farr, only after we press alt+tab twice does farr lose focus.

If you could fix this, mouser, it'd be great :D

« Last post by jgpaiva on July 02, 2007, 06:05 AM »
I usually call them directly by the file name...
I have farr searching in my ahk scripts folder, and whenever i want one i just search for the filename.
