Site/Forum Features / Re: DonationCredits Discussion
« Last post by mouser on October 11, 2007, 06:40 PM »
Some time ago we decided to do an experiment an give donors 100% control of their donation credits, and not automatically apply any of it to the site.

When you activate your credits the site recommends you consider giving 50% of your donation to the site account, but it's no longer mandatory.

Enough people give enough to the site that we decided to stick with this method.  It means that while we strongly ask for you to give some of your donations to the site, you are free to make a donation and give all of your credits to dc members whose work you want to support.

In fact, this change was especially motivated by people like you who might make a repeat donation to the site specifically because they want to support members on the site individually

(note that the reason you go $26.61 in credits instead of $28 is because paypal takes their cut off the top).

let's not get into a discussion on how to fix the reviews again here, only because there is a plan in place for how to do reviews 2.0 and there will be a time and place to discuss this as it nears implementation.

A completely new revamped donationcoder review system is in planning stages.  No point discussing it now but it is coming sometimes in 2008.

Videogame Development / Re: Question about Assignments
« Last post by mouser on October 11, 2007, 12:50 PM »
1) this is only for assignments in the programming school
2) im not talking about the full source code including engine source code, im just talking about source code that you write for the programming assignment, and even then you need only include the key parts relevant to the task. it's just to help others understand your approach.

I know you guys are just having fun but you know the rule, any time hitler is mentioned means the thread has come to an end.  Now please get back to work coding and set a good example for the rest of the forum by being productive.

It's clearly not an affiliate link -- the other #s are for different programs on the site :)

Welcome to the site majoMO, nice to have another indie coder stop by.

It's quite amazing that he has released a usable version 2, i know a LOT of people have been waiting for years and it's nothing short of miraculous that he managed to stick with the project.

I do think this statement is worth reading though, since it tells you that you should probably stick with version 1 for a while, and this release is just a preview:

Is this version functional? Yes. Is it better than 1.10? Definitely not.

ps.
Ehtyar -- can you update your topic maybe to be more explicit about what the post is about (i.e. Ollydbg v2 preview release) -- that way people will know to read the post when they see it and better find it in searches, etc.

of course young kids and nephews can enter!  that's the whole point!
remember this contest is being judged by Cody himself, and i think he prefers little kid scribbles to pro artist stuff.

mtirnanic, these have both been posted on our forum before.  can i ask that you search for items first before reposting about them?

also, when you do find a good new program to let us know about, please attach a screenshot? See this thread for instructions how: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1996.0

As others have pointed out -- if you host it at sourceforge you have to provide source code for it.  If you don't want to release the source code that's fine but you'll need to move it off sourceforge and somewhere else.  Let us know if you need web space.

i found this ancient Mayan cave drawing of cody:

codydrawing3.png

When the drawing was first found back in 1761 there was an ancient stone pot underneath it which was empty except for one gold coin which had apparently been overlooked by looters who had broken into the cave years earlier.  Villagers tell of a legend of a giant fat white bird or duck who protected the village from downtime and demanded gold coins in return for his service.

Multi-core should work as tekzel says, but i really want to add ability to set processor affinities, etc.  it's been planned r for a while just not gotten to it yet.

seems unlikely to me.. i am not a fan of adding more capture "modes"

However what i could be convinced to do is make it easier to quickly create new image files from an existing screenshot simply by selecting a region from inside sc and hitting a hotkey.  In general i much prefer the idea of hitting a quick key to grab the entire screen and *then* doing more elaborate processing.

the other thing i wanted to do it convert the thumbnail button on the toolbar to maybe a menu button so you can choose the thumbnail size quickly from that.
