Still cool to see out of the box thinking on this stuff.
And f0dder i think it's unfair to call this a "gimmick".. it's a gimick when some company tries to pawn off some silly technology as "the next big thing"..  this is a guy saying "let's explore some interesting new idea and see if there is any value in it"

#3 sounds like a good option to add -- it's easy to do so i might as well.

#2 hell yeah -- farr2 was designed specifically to help people create and share alias files and making web searches could not be easier.  you can easily add new searches to your "myaliases.alias" file from the farr options, or create your own new alias file with some searches you can share.  you can create them from within farr in options, or edit your alias file using a text editor (they are xml).

keep in mind the pdf is exactly the same (but perhaps a bit older) than the .chm help file included with every install of screenshot captor.

DcUpdater / Re: How Many DCUpdaters Do I Have Here!?

One of the things dcupdater does that is confusing is that, when launched from FARR it is passed the FARR directory on the commandline, and ONLY shows updates from that directory.  When launched as standalone, it searches the directories it knows about (those which have "registered" with it).

So depending on how you launch it it will show different items.  I'm going to add a checkbox so you can quickly ask it to show all updates even when launched from a program like FARR.

However, if it does not show all items at startup when launched standalone, that suggests that some of the programs are not being detected properly.

Question, if you just start dcupdater from start menu manually rather than having it start with windows, does it find everything?

UrlSnooper / Re: Network Adapter Detection Fails
« Last post by mouser on December 13, 2007, 12:40 PM »
The truth is I have no idea why you were getting that error, which is a pretty extreme one.  The new version was rebuilt to address a different issue but also include a new version of winpcap, the network sniffing driver that it uses, so perhaps the error was in winpcap and has been solved in the latest version of winpcap.

PitrPaulus,
i could upload older versions, but what is not working for you in current version?

jharris,

your person documents are on a server account somewhere which is making it hard for sc to save and load the settings there.

however there is an easy solution in this case.  edit the ConfigDir.ini file in the screenshot captor program directory and change the location where settings should be saved to a local drive location.

It's always nice to hear someone likes the program..

Actually let me take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has ever mentioned that they like FARR on a comment thread when a blog asks about your favorite launcher.  I just want to let you guys and gals know how much that means to me.  Sometimes i'll see a post somewhere about someone asking "what's your favorite launcher?" and i'll just peek into the comments, and when i see someone saying their favorite is FARR, it brings a real smile to my face and makes me want to load it up and start adding features.  Thanks.

Best part:

I should say, that the nurses that brought me the cards and letters are very confused when they handed me the mails, as they can't understand that i get mail from all over the world. I think they must think i must be a really worldwide important person or a celebrity.

it is LONG LONG overdue for me to add the ability to configure LBC to show as a pop up menu under cursor when you hit a hotkey.  i need to add it this month.  that would let you easily configure a bunch of different mouse tools to trigger it.

YAY!!! JoTo is back!!!!

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better.. We were all missing you in the irc channel and were anxious and happy to hear you were recovering.

I'm really glad you liked all the stuff we sent.

ps. I know that you only left him out of your thanks because you were able to thank him in person, but we should say for the record that DC member Rambo, your co-worker in real life, was the one that gave us updates and commiserated with us and helped us figure out where to send stuff, etc.  So three cheers for Rambo.

YAY! JoTo I'm glad you are back!! Just in time to code something for NANY 2008 too :)

one thing we won't do is have top donator and top coder lists.
the spirit of this site is that each of us has different resources, different gifts, different lives, and different ways of adding to the community -- we don't want to start making lists saying who has contributed more than others.
