Find And Run Robot / Re: add "clear search" button to FARR
« Last post by mouser on March 30, 2008, 11:03 AM »
just hit escape and it will select your entire search string so you can start typing something new over it -- no need to use mouse.

ps. ctrl+backspace will delete last word.

i suggest you plug the speaker back in and look harder for the bios beep code explanation -- that's really your best first clue.

General Software Discussion / Re: are email clients sofware a dead industry ?
« Last post by mouser on March 29, 2008, 02:17 PM »
I'm one of those people still living in the past i guess.. I like having control of my files, and I have no intention of switching from a local pc client to web based email.

The one area where web-based email really shines, in my opinion, is when you are traveling.

Living Room / We need to do something about Skrommel.. but what?
« Last post by mouser on March 29, 2008, 02:06 PM »
Anyone who has frequented the DonationCoder.com forum for a while knows that DC member Skrommel is just about single-handedly responsible for the success of the Coding Snacks section of the site.

His contributions here are immeasurable, and yet Skrommel is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, and normal methods of saying thanks simply are not appropriate.

So the question is.. how do we as a community say thank you to Skrommel in an appropriate way?

ps.
mIRC is the IRC client that I use myself.  I've actually done a fair amount of coding using mIRC's scripting language, and you'll find some addons i've written for mirc below:

To test out mirc, why not join the #donationcoder chat channel where we hang out!

Just follow these two steps:
  • 1. Connect to the EFNET network.
  • 2. Join the channel #donationcoder (type /join #donationcoder).

Screenshot Captor / Re: Request: make freehand annotations
« Last post by mouser on March 29, 2008, 02:52 AM »
This is definitely a good idea.. currently i recommend that anyone who needs to do stuff like this should make sure to configure a fast external graphics editor for use with screenshot captor.

When you configure it in the SC options you will see a nice button on the toolbar of SC that you can just click to quickly edit a picture, then just save and it will automatically show up refreshed in SC after you save it.

It's designed to make it really convenient to do advanced editing in conjunction with SC.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: DBISAM Engine error # 8963
« Last post by mouser on March 28, 2008, 10:17 AM »
It sounds like somehow the clip database file in CHS got corrupted.
I thought i included a clipboard database repair function but i can't see it in the options.

Assuming you can start up CHS, run it, backup your clip database from the options, and then try restoring an older backup of clips through the options.

If you can't start up CHS, then go to the CHS program files directory (C:\program fiels\Clipboard Help+Spell) and delete the files in the Database\ subdirectory (actually do yourself a favor and just MOVE them dont delete yet). then restart CHS and it will have a blank clip database.  Then you can restore one of the older clip backups from the options dialog.

Meanwhile i will put high on my todo list to add the database repair option.

See here for description of what we expect from commercial business users:
https://www.donation...r.com/Help/entry/23/

To summarize from that page:
Our software is free/donationware for personal use.  If you are running your own small home business, we consider that the same thing (as fellow voyagers in the world of small home businesses we know how hard it can be).

But if you are running a real business with more than one or two non-family employees, we do expect you to purchase a Site/Business License for the program you will be using.

What if you go back to the store and tell them when the monitor didn't work you went looking for what was wrong, which included opening the stickers.

The nice thing about Staples is that they don't seem to be interested in being bastards.  My experience is that since it's so soon after you took it in and with the warranty, they probably won't think twice about taking it back to fix again.  Don't stress over it, just go back and tell them what happened.

Hi Ghostly.

Using wordweb with FARR:
https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=7989.0

NOTE:
I believe that wordweb is already configured in a built-in FARR v2 alias called "define", so if you type "define ghost" youll see wordweb at the end of the list.  But you can go inspect the define alias in the Linguistics alias group in options to see how it's done.
