Yes, I also dont understand this. I dont see why you would have more than one d/l manager installed anyways.

What would you recommend for my purposes as described above? I am really needing something like this and want to make a purchase soon. I have yet to really DELVE into the pocketpc world due to lack of information. Any help you can provide would be outstanding and very much appreciated.

jammo, have you ever used a pocketpc? I am trying to find someone who has used both and can make a recommendation based on such.

The reason I feel it is slower is due to the OS trying to read all of the attributes of the files before a copy begins. If you see, it tries to "gather information" prior to the copy. I think this is part of what it is doing. It is a whole lot faster, although not AS fast as it used to be, with the patch that MS released.
2380
Yeah, the DRM claim sounds like that of the DRM-paranoid rather than a legitimate claim. Unless there is proof that this IS the reason they slowed down copying, then I will consider this report as FUD just like much of the info put out by the anti-vista group.

Carol in a thread with an opportunity to bash MS? Who woulda thunk it!

For those of you who wish to install the patch.
2383
If so, it appears you are not alone. Microsoft has acknowledged via a private patch, which you must request here by referencing hotfix 942435.

Hope this helps some of you out there :)

Agreed wholeheartedly. Pardon the expression but this crow doesn't caw. I really doubt that the reason for closing the forum was due to the amount of activity. Alot of their replies were "Thanks for the report. Next Action/Someday" and didnt involve much typing. The company still releases far too many modules and doesnt seem to realize that they should have spent more time fixing existing modules as opposed to adding more.

I am one of those users who doesnt really see a need for a third party utility. Its not that I am afraid to stray, but more that I am used to explorer, it works well, and the advantage and extras gained from said third party tools doesnt really justify the added expense or reconfiguration I have to go through. Tabs are nice, but I dont find them to be a necessity when it comes to managing files on my pc.

As carol said, this leaves to question one thing. WHY DIDNT THEY RESPOND TO THEIR TOUTED DSM SERVICE. I sent a total of 12 messages over the course of that 2 months, and only recently did I receive replies that they wont honor my refund. Its ok, I am going to trialpay and getting them removed as a customer. I am also pursuing SwREG for the same thing. I am actually dealing with one of the managers at trialpay and am pretty close to this. I will keep you all informed. In my opinion, these CROOKS, yes that is what they are as they take the customers money and force them to waste ungodly amounts of time trying to contact them, dont deserve to be allowed to sell software. Anyways, I have moved on from Do-O and have purchased a full-fledged PDA which outperforms and outshines Do-O in every conceivable manner.

General Software Discussion / Re: Personal Movie Organizers - A quick rundown
« Last post by Josh on October 14, 2007, 04:54 AM »
Right now, I am using Collectorz.com Movie collector. I've owned it for over 3 years now and have been very happy with it. However, I am contemplating swapping to DVD Profiler. It has far more features. The main difference is that DVD Profiler relies on a pre-built database of movies while collectorz relies on downloading from alternate sources (imdb, dvd empire, etc). Collectorz has just started a database of their own, however, it is not fully mature.

I suggest you try out both. DVD Profiler is really catching my eye now, however, collectorz products might suite your needs well as well. I cant complain about Collectorz, I just havent seen many new "jaw dropping" features added since v3.

Yeah, I would rather avoid that battle if I can. I really want a device I can take with me regardless of upgrades to my phone. When my phone comes time to be upgraded again in 2 years, I want to be able to retain all of my data. This is why a dedicated device is more preferable than one that "does it all". Chances are, after two years, the device will no longer be supported by the phone company and I will be forced to upgrade and then have two devices for this purpose. So, as far as this, I am going to stick with a dedicated PDA.

Dont take this the wrong way, I still greatly value your input :)

The problem with using a SmartPhone device is that I have to pay more for plan JUST TO SUPPORT the device. I cannot use a standard family plan like I have now, I have to upgrade to a data plan. This is why I want a standalone palm/pocketpc type device.

How about some links, because I sure won't find "styler" just by googling/yahooing it

you are wrong

How about a link then?

I am with you armando. My wife doesnt understand how I can justify spending money on this device when I can just use a notebook. To me, with the amount of stuff I add/delete each day, A portable organizer like this makes far more sense. Anyways, Does anyone else have any input?

Well, the primary uses of this device will be for Weight training logging and for calendar management since my schedule is becoming more and more complicated. Some contact storage and miscellaneous usage will be added, but those are the primary uses.

Living Room / PocketPC or Palm?
« Last post by Josh on October 12, 2007, 04:37 PM »
I am looking for opinions on a PDA/PocketPC type device. With my life growing ever more complex with more and more things to do, I need something portable I can use to organize it. Which of these devices do you recommend and why? What advantages/disadvantages does each offer? Is one better than the other for a particular lifestyle/task? What do you think.

If they do not have the people to support the products they are putting out, then perhaps they need to stop adding new features and freeze it until current features are fixed to some definable standard. Right now, the calendar system is useless if you want reminders. The email module is useless if you try and setup advanced rules. These are just two of the many bugs I've encountered that are most prominent in my mind.

I respect that developers have bills just like everyone else, I just cant imagine that their closing down their forum due to "lack of time" is a legitimate claim. From my experience, there was maybe 5-6 NEW bug reports a day. This is not very many new posts. I really believe what has been pointed out here. The team simply couldn't take the amount of criticism they were receiving and decided to close the forums.

I now know they will be reading this thread. In my latest DSM (Which finally received a response) asking for a refund, I made light of this thread so they can see what their paying users think about the way they were treated. I will notify you of its status when I receive another reply.

Also, to all, I got a DSM response today, here is what it said about refunds.

The refund from another was a unique experience, however, if you wish to pursue this, it is your decision. DSM is now active. as well as email support. It just means you will have to restate the problem you wish help with.
