Oh! Another thought. Now that we have this browser plugin, we need someone to allow things like define, wikipedia etc to open in the FARR browser. Especially when you're just going to be looking for a quick answer rather than wanting to launch your browser.

one idea i had was the ability to specify a list in an options tab of what pages/sites should load in internal browser by default, so all other aliases which open web pages would first be checked against that list and then loaded internally or externally as specified.

davidma we are thinking alike.
i'll tell you a few thoughts i had:

1) ability for FARR to autodetect needed window size within range.
2) return to normal window size when back in normal mode.
3) if #1 proves impractical, a workaround would be for FARR to remember what size it was last resized to when viewing pages on each domain.  so that basically you would resize it when you went to a new domain, and it would thereafter remember to resize to that size next time that website was visited.

regardless, let's remember FARR is not meant to be a full browser, this new view mode is mainly meant for plugin writers to display custom output.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FARR v2 PLUGIN CREATOR (SDK/API) INFO THREAD
« Last post by mouser on June 09, 2008, 12:25 AM »
The latest FARR release (2.04.02) has added some new functions for plugins writers that have not been used yet in currently downloadable examples.  As soon as I finish adding a few more functions for the new htmlview in conjunction with plugin writers i will update the sdk documentation and examples.

It's not too uncommon to take the screenshots from the program pages.. The review text is filled with reviewer's opinion of things so clearly they used and evaluated and compared them.

To help test the new internal browser mode i added a command to the core-internet aliases called "igo", so to open that page in the html view mode type:
igo www.google.com

2.04.02 is now uploaded.

For what's new and download link, see: https://www.donation...05.msg82198#msg82198

Note: As I said above, current end-users of FARR are not likely to notice much of a difference. I've just finally started going through and fixing bugs, and adding some significant new features for plugin writers.  Updates should be coming much more frequently in the near future, especially as the plugin writers and I figure out new features we need for plugins.

I can't wait to see what plugin writers can come up with using the new html view mode.

it would be nice to have a good weather plugin..

It should be mentioned that this prize includes a licensed copy of every Operating System made by Microsoft, the full MS Office Suite, normally non-free SDK stuff, etc., and any versions that come out within a year of winning.
23142
this is starting to look impressive.
i was skeptical of the idea of making such a program given that there are some existing ones already, but you're starting to get into the area where Coordinator could give these guys a run for their money.

you guys should check out the other tools i listed above and see what other kinds of features might be useful.

Find And Run Robot / Re: How to increase scoring of item ?
« Last post by mouser on June 08, 2008, 08:22 AM »
i just meant that each time you were putting +200 you thought you were adding another 200.  but really there should only be one score for the item that you are "changing" each time.  it's a bit confusing.  you aren't adding 200 each time you type +200, you are simply saying over and over again, give this file a single 200 point bonus during matching.

but i'm glad you found a better more general solution regarding shortcuts vs. exe files.

Another REALLY IMPORTANT thing for people to remember:
FARR gives a big bonus to any program as soon as you launch it once.  so if the file you want to launch comes up not quite first place on your initial search -- it's very likely that after you launch it once, it will be at the top next time, and forever after, without you needing to take any corrective action.  it will also be found much quicker next time because it is in the FARR history cache.

ecaradec has made a new update of the js sdk that let's plugins know when special keys are pressed in memo mode and let's plugins know when Enter has been pressed during search, which is what you've been waiting for in terms of not needing to end lines with && and other such stuff.

General Software Discussion / Re: AVG False positive on MouseActivate ?
« Last post by mouser on June 08, 2008, 08:08 AM »
by healing, AVG means it has deleted/quarantined the file

hahaha.. seriously though, the antivirus business is getting really sloppy and greedy, and turning into snake oils salesmen, and this is a good example of it.

instead of telling you what they really know and did, i.e. "we don't understand this file so we deleted it" they say "virus found -- file healed".  this kind of stuff is getting out of hand.  where is the antivirus for adults and computer users who don't need to be treated like children?

I agree that the updater needs a way of auto-discovering new plugins so as to make it easy to install any plugin.

these alert boxes should only ever come up if you don't put in a license key (free or otherwise), right?
