What about giving the dialog to choose which window should be captured?

i'll do better than that, i'll go back in time and add it.
do a Windows Object Capture -- you can select the window you want to capture.

can you try one more thing for me? disable the option that says "start with window".
then run sc and make size normal.
then reboot your pc as you normally do
except this time sc will not start up when your computer boots since you disabled this option.

then after your computer finishes booting start sc, and see if the window is small.

if so, then i will know the problem is at shutdown.. if not, then the problem would appear to be caused when it starts with windows.

Also, how do you know the DC server is well treated? The DC server goes down, and mouser doesn't hiperventilate on the irc channel.

only the people who were online on irc a couple of years ago when the server had it's first serious outage can know how big a deal this is.  i felt like i was going to have a heart attack i was so panicked and frustrated by the server being down and rushing around trying to figure out what to do.

a little part of my new calmness is just getting used to the fact that servers sometimes have downtime and you don't need to get so worked up, but mostly its the fact that i know John is on the case and will make sure the server is fixed after it has a problem.  it has saved my sanity.

never heard the report before and certainly it hasn't happened to me.. BUT if it's only happening on reboot that's a huge clue and maybe i can put something in easily to fix it in next version.  let me see what i can do about it.

does the problem occur if you exit and restart screenshot captor (while it is minimized i guess), or only on reboot?

personally the Apple/Ted type "oh my god shhh.. this is going to revolutionize the world" marketing-style way it's talked about does kind of rub me the wrong way.  Do we have a name yet for these pretentious style presentations?  it's like as soon as you get to a big company (which i guess mozilla is now) you get trained on how to market everything you do using some snake-oil-style approach.

The description is silly -- watch the video demo on that page to learn what it is..  after a few minutes they will get passed the "adding pictures to email" which i find kind of useless.. then they get to the part where they do basically what FARR and other keyboard launchers do.

it's especially annoying given that 90% of what they are doing is what Find+Run Robot and other keyboard-based launchers do.. Of course it would kind of step on their narrative if they acknowledged that, so instead we are treated to a discussion of something that purports to be a totally new concept.

still, some cool things they can do since it's integrated into the browser and i'm sure they've come up with some innovations.

I mean it, one of the best things that happend to this site is when you came around and volunteered to take care of these issues.  I know it can be really frustrating work and I want you to know how much we all appreciate it.

Just a quick note that we had a few hours of downtime this morning, and a big thanks to Gothi[c] for waking up out of his sleep just to fix the problem.  It reminds me how lucky we are to have him taking care of, looking out for, and fixing our server when there are problems.

Thank you Gothi[c] (John).

ps.
I think i will try to set up a very basic backup forum on our dcmembers.com server so we can post when such problems occur and just serve as a place for people to chat if the main server goes down.

There is no need to ask someone to trade you for them :)

Screenshot Captor / Re: Latest Screenshot Captor Version's Tiny Initial Window?

What is happening now is that the default window for SC on the XP machine is only about 200 x 200 pixels; not enough to see much at all! It used to be roughly 800 x 600 pixels, maybe a bit smaller.  Now I always have to drag the corner of the window to get it big enough  to see anything. Once that's done it is fine - until I reboot.  Then it's back to the little window.

ok well thats a different behavior than the other problem, and should be easier to fix.  the old problem was more insidious -- it wasnt just a small window it was basically an un-rendered window which could not be used even if enlarged.

try changing the launch method used by FARR on the General options tab.
if it's intermitant then maybe the problem is not with farr..
