i just tried it myself, extracted the files and ran the program and it ran fine.. something else must be going wrong.

hmm.. try setting recursion to -1 to make sure that isn't the problem.
you could turn on the option in Display Options tab to "Show search subdir" so you could check statusbar as it searches to see what it is finding.
and then lastly maybe try creating a simple named file like mytest.txt in that directory and try to find that, to see if there is something about that filename that is confusing it.

by the way, you can attach images to your posts, no need to use image hosting.

popup wisdom doesnt install any system files so i dont know why it would give that error when running in portable mode.. does it run on your pc if you install it normally?

Yes you can.  PopupWisdom does not need an installation program, you can simply copy the files to any PC, wherever you want them.

To extract the files without running the installation program, just run any unzip program (like winzip for example) and open the .exe file as if it was a zip file and extract the contents.  Or rename PopupWisdomSetup.exe to PopupWisdomSetup.zip and unzip it as normal

I think we might still be having a miscommunication problem.  if you send me the configuration file for your tree ill make the change i'm suggesting and send it back.

You've told TFLM explicitly to hide the children when you uncheck the box.  The solution isn't to change the behavior of the program but simply pop the children out one level of indentation and put them after the checkbox as siblings if you dont want to do that.   There is no downside to doing that is there?  If you want to be able to collapse that group you can do that, just put the checkbox and the other folders inside a folder.

Its an important feature to be able to deactivate an entire subtree by unchecking the parent checkbox -- you wouldn't want to have to uncheck all children in such a case.

If you uncheck the parent, no children will be shown -- precisely because they are children.
if you wanted those bottom checkboxes to show -- simply move the "Discussion" folder out from being a child of the checkbox, and just move it under it as a sibling (ie make it a child of Simplicity).

I bought it to support the cause -- i can't say i love it but i didn't really enjoy playing Fantatsic Contraption either.  I definitely do appreciate the polish and love that went into the game though.  And i think if you enjoyed Fantastic Contraption flash game you will probably like this a lot.

This new game immediately reminded me of this long popular thread on DC forum about the free flash game "Fantastic Contraption".

But it looks quite a bit more involving in terms of storyline, humour, graphics.  Looks pretty impressive and the reviews are positively glowing.  Cheap and nice that it's a real indie developed game.

Anyone tried it yet?
