Pulled .65 from backup — Auto-completes working fine.
Updated to .66 — double letters on any of my own (non-imported) auto-completes, e.g. Billl and Ben.

Double letters: Any autocomplete that I set up has the double letter. I just created a few to see. Also, I just realized that almost all (if not all) of the vocabulary that I fed Auspex from files has gone. Looks as if  something bad has happened here. I'll pull a pre .66 from backup, see if that's okay and if it is I'll update that to .66.

My goodness me - and this was supposed to a simple mini-update! I'll try running that AllMyNotes thing and see if that triggers all this stuff. I have Auspex running literally the whole day and never see this stuff  :(

Makes me think there must be some other gremlin loose in my system.
The dead menus occur on first run of Auspex. Closing and relaunching it seems to fix that. I thought that was one you'd fixed but I probably misremember.
Have enabled a new auto-complete though Aus[tab]$#^!pex.  :)
I'm getting the double letter effect in my text editors also. My reference to AllMyNotes is best left aside.

I always think those For Dummies books are okay to buy for myself (you can guess why!) but a little insulting to give to others.

Well, I hate to tell you but .66 isn't working well for me.

At the moment, it's sitting maximized with all its menus greyed out and inaccessible. This comes and goes but I don't yet see why.

Also, it's fighting with AllMyNotes (see elsewhere on DC) which previous versions did not do. It'll work for a bit and then block all typing.

Further, an autocomplete which is "Ripley IV" turns up as Rippley IV when I type "Rip" and hit 0 (or Tab) to select what I want. Similarly, Martin gets me Marrtin, and so on.

Also;
  • launch
  • hit close button to minimize
  • restore
  • hit close button to minimize doesn't work again.
The bad news that it's only sometimes and I can't pin down why. This one's really not very important.

Happy Christmas, chum  :o

Just to join the chorus, I just took a look and can't see where 7 would benefit me.
Most of the updates to 6 had no impact on my use of it.
$19.95 to upgrade seems somewhat expensive. Everybody has to make a living, I suppose.

Each year -- sometimes twice a year -- I go through every shelf, closet, corner, and space in the house and pull out things I either will never use again -- that book I've read and don't intend to reread, the tool I have a duplicate of, printer cartridges for which I have no printer for, clothes I don't wear, etc.,
Admirable!

Taking it for a spin.

(You might want to change the line:

in your original post as the link to .66 is quite far down and rather smaller.)

Developer's Corner / Your software — screencasting — why do it?

Smashing Magazine has a decent, short, and common-sensical article about screencasting. It covers some do's and dont's and points out why a good screencast can be more important to your project than you might think. It's a five-minute read, tops.

We had everything reproduced and tested on the new server, EXCEPT we could not get the new mysql 5.1 database stuff running at a good speed.  Problem is being worked on and we will move when it is solved.  Obviously the last thing we want is to move servers and have the forum feel slower.
Thanks for the update, and thanks for planning things so that this kind of glitch can be dealt with elegantly!

I don't know if it matters, but I'm running Chromium. I think it has issues with the cache.  I tried downloading a file from my site and kept getting the old version until I cleared the cache.  Weird.
Gotcha… I was posting more to say what happens when I try it here. Also, I should have specified that I was using Firefox.
