Does this crap mean you can't use Wireshark anymore? It really sucks. I'm sorry for all of you there, and I sincerely hope this gets resolved.

Suggestion: Use the sarcasm tag

<sarcasm>Bla, bla, bla</sarcasm>

Works really good. For now, the only thing we can do (unless we have the law in our side) is avoid these kind of "treats" (tricks fits it better), and have good hardware as well. And Vista DRM is AFAIK only applicable to HD optics, but I suppose it could be extended to other things in the future. FOSS? :o

General Software Discussion / Re: Multisession burning

Or a DVD-RAM, which considering what I know of them, they seem specifically tailored for backup tasks. Another story is finding one... and it could be that your drive is not supporting this kind of media.

A program to do the burning... I think there's some recent thread around... let me see... wait, you posted there ;D
There's this other one, I myself recommend Complex Evolution, which was a nice surprise when I tried it some time ago. CDBurnerXP is currently very buggy in some departments, so you've got to wait for 4.0. The other ones, ImgBurn is more geared toward disc images, I would avoid Ashampoo like the plague (the software company, more than its software, personal things of mine), DeepBurner also seems like a decent option. Did you try XP burning capabilities? For multisession discs, they work like a charm.

Also, Backup4All brings its own burning routines, so it's another option. And Nero, of course ;)

So this is the the SMF search you were going to put your hands on ;)

Excellent! Now all the other forums (especially those using phpBB) would be envious of the improved search function here

Errr, let me check this up... um, OK, it's Ctrl+2 to activate the bookmarks panel, or you can use the mouse to do the dirty work...

...Ctrl+H effectively hides Opera, and in other browsers, it shows the History panel :-[

At least I hope you understood the rest :)

I found the "Old New Thing" article f0dder mentioned: http://blogs.msdn.co...04/07/09/178342.aspx

Uh-oh, Spain is in problems :)

Seems that things improved during the last 3 years. I've just launched the applet, and it took a few seconds to show everything, including all the updates. The adoption of MSI installers on big companies part, and the use of NSIS and Inno Setup on small developers side sure helped.

It should be noted that around 90% of my software is still not installed, though ;)

Well, you can input your own tags in the 'Description' field of Opera's bookmarks entries. Then Ctrl+H and type to show the page you want. This is something that Firefox could do, but developers were (apparently) very lazy to implement it. It's slated for Firefox 3, although they're reinventing the wheel (as always) with an idea very similar to the Delicious extension that Carl mentioned some time ago.

Of course, with Opera you can't get the nifty tree that the Delicious extension have, but it's better than nothing.

I would like to meet the bright minds that invented this kind of DRM, and thought it could be a possible solution to piracy, and a good idea as well ::)

Interesting thing. The big media here is reporting the news, but they completely ignore what we are discussing here (ethics) and they instead focus on the error that Ms. Turner made. They prefer to turn the attention to the possibility of Google picking up on Mr. Moore. Fine.

Of course, I should mention that the big media didn't do their homework, and they are basically copy-pasting what TechCrunch said. Hurrah for prominent bloggers :(

Regardless of Ms. Turner personal opinion about 'Sicko', the thing is that the second part of the article practically says "if you have money, welcome in". That is, they don't seem to give a damn about wether the company is ethical or no, but about what Google can do for them for the right amount of money. Incredible. It's what mouser says.

About democracy, and the need for mass media to deliver all political opinions, there are two things to consider. First, Google influence over Internet ads is overwhelming. Second, is Google going to give equal space to every opinion, or are they going to use their algorithms to decide what to show next?. Considering that politics is all PR these days, and the individual has been obscured by his/her public persona, we don't need more ads in political campaigns (do we really need political campaigns?)

Unlike mouser, I'm not that optimistic about Google (well, nothing new there), for the simple reason that they're adopting their competitors' behavior at a extremely fast rate. In 5 years, this will be worse than Microsoft.

</Political rant>

I wasn't aware of Opera and Zoho movements. And definitely, the main problem with Apple products is that they look very good on the package, but once you open... ow, first scratch!

And no, I'm not going to buy it. I need to change my phone (the battery is dying), but spending 600 € on something so mundane... let the executives and rich kids do the purchases. Besides, phones are known for their short life, you'll need an insurance for this one.

I just picked this in another forum :o

Curt, you could shave some seconds of your start time if you give the heave-ho to the QuickTime and the Adobe services. Not that they are needed, unless you have a specific reason.

I prefer 4 and then 1. I don't see 2 and 3 on a T-shirt but on a splash screen.
