Find And Run Robot / Re: [bug report]keeping on asking for cd-rom disk files?
« Last post by mouser on March 20, 2009, 11:14 AM »
its basically querying it's history of launched files to speed up search, causing the OS to poll that removable drive.
what i need to do is have it not do this for missing drives.. automatically if possible, or with a list of drives to ignore if not.
thanks for the report -- what you can do in the meantime as a workaround is go to options -> launchhistory -> delete the entry.

You can drag and drop items.
Just make sure you are in edit mode: Use the menu to go to Edit -> Edit Configuration Tree.

Welcome to the site P2Labs -- looks like some useful tools

just a warning.. backing up only the parts of changed files seems inherently more prone to restorationg problems than backing up entire changed files (which is what i use).  i can see some cases where you might want it, perhaps if you have giant files that change just a little.. but i would think long and hard about it.

DcUpdater / Re: Dcupdater problems - v1.23.01?
« Last post by mouser on March 19, 2009, 03:19 PM »
yes i saw that -- doesn't really pose a risk to dcupdater though. -- at least i can't see any way for it to be exploited to make dcupdater do anything bad.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: is video editing software necessary?
« Last post by mouser on March 19, 2009, 01:59 PM »
it has to be in a format that flipbook printer can understand, such as .avi or .mpg.
whether you need to first process it in a video editor depends on whether you camera saves files in that format.

Developer's Corner / Re: Frustration with User Feedback
« Last post by mouser on March 19, 2009, 11:43 AM »
I think it would be really useful if we set up a kind of repository thing which made it easy for people to browse, find, and get updates on software released by dc members.  Take a look at skrommel's page and you can see how easy it is to be overloaded.  any suggestions?

are you specifically looking for online backup tools or local ones?

another nice feature might be if you could configure the tool to open the target app with specified commandline options.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: Can you duplicate a frame?
« Last post by mouser on March 18, 2009, 03:44 PM »
That is absolutely possible.. flipbook printer has lots of options for deciding how to lay out pages to customize binding methods.

The key is to select STACKED printing, and then.. and here is the non-obvious part, set the # of copies to the # of images (cards) on one sheet of paper.

Use the preview button and the View Page selector to preview the printing plan ahead of time.

If you think about it a little it will make sense why this combination of option does what you want -- the idea of stacked printing is that when you stack pages on top of each other, each copy of the flipbook exists as a single stack.

New release.  Anyone who experienced crashing after the program woke up from hibernation (especially if you had a multimonitor system), then this new release should fix that problem.  Thanks to Roman for helping to diagnose the problem.

v2.53.01 - March 17th, 2009
  • Fixed rare bug that could cause an exception when waking from hibernation (especially on multimonitor systems); or when turning off secondary monitors [Thanks Roman!]
v2.52.01 - March 12th, 2009
  • Added some new variable/macros based on image filename that can be used when calling commandline tools.
v2.51.01 - March 10th, 2009
  • Added new advanced post-capture commandline tool box where you can configure multiple commandline applications to run after a screenshot is taken.  See here for more options you can pass to the post-capture commandline tools.

To this suggestion:
Easy: split the first in these two:
- Announce your commercial product/service
- Announce your free product/service

I understand the concern.. but i'm always very concerned about splitting up the site into too many different sections - i think it tends to exacerbate the problem where there are islands of the forum where no one ever goes.

I tend to favor a different kind of "divisition" where we suggest something like this:
  • Regular dc forum members who create free software can announce it in the General Software section which is one of the two main and most read sections of the forum.
  • New people who aren't really forum members but wish to simply post about their product or service and don't really intend to stick around for general discussion, or people with non-free stuff, should use the Announce Your Product/Service section.

i'm happy to make the custom file explorer available as a %variable% so you can pass it on commandline if you like.
