Nice stuff.  Just uploaded Flatpress and installed, and in a few minutes had a couple entries pumped out.  Kudos to the developer!

Hey America - welcome to the real world.

The only thing you got wrong is that America is a democracy? 9/11 didn't put an end to that idea (although it gave anti-democratic methods a huge boost) - the US hasn't been a democracy in the last century (if it ever truly has been).

Sorry to disillusion you - democracy is rather more than a popular vote between two candidates (hand picked by cronies and big business) every few years - and Bush even got in when he lost the vote!

I know it is probably going to annoy people for me to say this but the US, UK and almost all of the so called democratic west, is no more democratic than the old USSR and Maoist China. The west is just better at the PR to give the illusion and stop people revolting, and they might (but only might) be a little less aggressive because of those PR firms! Truly stand up to the government, fire the bullet to be heard around the world in the US today and see how you will be applauded for your courage (from Guantanamo - sorry that is closed now, right - the liberal president promised - didn't he?)

If you want to object to my analysis take your criticism to a free speech thread where I don't have to read it ... (that's democratic - right?)

+1.  I fully agree with this.

I think that what we're dealing with here is a parallel of the gun-law debate.  My father, a staunch supporter of the NRA, repeats one of their favorite slogans often, "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns...".  Seems to me that this is in a similar vein.  A whole lot of effort is going to be spent applying ridiculously expensive (and relatively ineffectual) blanket strategies, rather than surgically precise measures to protect the general populace.

That would work as well, Stephen.  I think I'll take these suggestions under serious consideration, but probably for a post-NANY2012 release.

The main problem is that it install is the wrong time to ask for support or donations - just like at registration on a new site is the wrong time to ask me to recommend to a friend or upgrade to "plus".

I don't know if I want to give you my browser revenue/a donation/risk inconveniencing my friends, I haven't used your software/site yet! So making me wait hardly is going to help anything.

Now when the software/site detects that it is the nth time or nth hour it has been running, then would be a good time. I'm more likely to donate, or subscribe to a newsletter/feed/toolbar once I am using the tool and have found it valuable

Nice ideas, did you ever get round to doing any of these?

Mouser's gonna release such a tool as his NANY 2012 app, and I'm gonna help write the Help file.  Right, mouser?  ;D

Personally, I'm enamored of C# and .NET.  It's by far the easiest and RAD tool I've used.  Quite powerful.  I don't find it limiting my creativity any.

I use FBackup 4 (freeware) instead of the crappy WDSmart software that came with my WD 1 Tb MyBook Essential.  FBackup 4 works fine.  I've used it to mirror my notebook's drive to the MyBook.

Would you believe that WDSmart would not let me backup MyDocuments and its subfolders!?

It's just more convenient, no matter the philosophical or future possible disadvantages of DRM.

+1.

We don't have a whole lot of extra space in our house, for me to store hard copies on bookshelves.  My Kindle is a tremendous space-saver in that regard.

CT, PHP/MySQL can work together to accomplish what you want to do.  If you download and install XAMP (a free software suite that will allow you to simulate how your PHP webpage code would interact with a MySQL database), I have some working code for a very simple table that I can share with you, that may help you get a feel for how to pull data from a table and display it in a webpage.

Thanks for the clarification, app103.  So member pages would not be directly affected; rather, members who've created free-/donation-ware would be asked to add their software to the DC software directory.  I for one look forward to this, as I think such a site-wide directory that includes members' software would substantially enhance the visibility of those members' programs who are not major contributors.

Just think, if I had known how much Warner Communications had paid for the copyright to "Happy Birthday", I may have broken a million points.

Even as it stands, I doubt anyone will surpass your current score, to win the August high-scorer award.  But we'll see...

As an aside, there are relatively few puzzles involving numbers.  Less than 1%.  One of the advantages of playing a lot, as you have, is that you become familiar with puzzles seen previously, allowing you to solve faster.  You'll remember the one that stumped you, the next time you come across it :D
