Please download an update if you are running v1.04.01 -- there was a bug that could cause crashing on load.

v1.105.02 - June 20, 2009
  • [Feature] V1.04 and v1.05.01 of LBC had an invalid pointer bug that could crash when loading launchbars.

v1.105.01 - June 18, 2009
  • [Feature] LBC now makes automatic backups more often -- one each month that you make changes to the file, and when updating LBC version.
  • [Feature] LBC now warns if you are saving a LBC docking bar file with the initial default filename.

i agree with everything you say about it being interesting from an educational perspective, and i think linking to it would be cool -- it really was amazing to watch.

something just rubbed me the wrong way about seeing it looping over and over again here as if it was a comedy blooper to laugh about.  i mean hey it's nature, and nature can be cruel and fascinating.  i just don't get an "LOL" feeling about watching a bird get dragged under water to die.

:( i know this is probably going to seem over sensitive, and it is a remarkable video in terms of animal behavior, but it's also pretty cruel to watch and something i'd rather not see embedded as an animation playing inside a post.. linking to it would be fine.

i wonder if its this issue of changed drive letters not being resolved properly, and yet LBC trying to resolve them.. maybe network drive slowdown if LBC is looking on network drives for files?

can you test this theory by starting LBC without any launchbars and creating a new one or two and seeing if there is any problem doing that?
(you may have to delete the mcp file or .ini in order to start it without it loading your old files, or delete your old files).
needless to say: back up your files first.

General Software Discussion / Re: fully free software utilities for biz use
« Last post by mouser on June 19, 2009, 03:46 PM »
Though we don't make too big a deal about it, the official DonationCoder policy about commercial business uses is described here:
https://www.donation...r.com/Help/entry/23/

It basically says:
"Our software is free/donationware for personal use.  If you are running your own small home business, we consider that the same thing (as fellow voyagers in the world of small home businesses we know how hard it can be).

But if you are running a real business with more than one or two non-family employees, we do expect you to purchase a Site/Business License for the program you will be using.

Note: If you are simply an individual using the program at work, it doesn't matter if you are a member of a large business -- you do not need a formal commercial license (unless the program specifically says a commercial license is required for all profit making use).  Commercial Licenses are normally intended for the situation where many people at your business all use the program."

In other words, if you are a larger company that wants to install the software on many pcs, you should get a commercial license.  Otherwise, no worries.

commandline support would be pretty easy to add, let me go ahead and do that.

i wonder if indeed that . is the problem.. care to experiment a little by making copies of the program in dif dirs with and without dots in them?

kreator, you've accurately described the situation -- and you are right that the object-action ideas would be what would let you do what you want if/when those are implemented.
19142
the first thing you should probably decide is what best matches what you want:
  • Do you want to have control over creating title pages, chapters with menu items that link to each one with a nice label or picture, etc.
  • Or do you just want to take a bunch of video files and click "go" and have it build a compatible dvd where you can play each of the video files.

Different programs tend to focus on helping you do 1 of those 2 things.  The first case means more powerful flexible program that will have a higher learning curve.  The second case you should be able to find a really dead simple solution.

if you had custom books, then i think the problem was the old version -- i discovered that the old version could crash if the book file format wasn't perfect.  the new version is smarter about that.
