After 2 years it looks like there is going to be a grand winner.. amazing.

http://tech.slashdot...y-Have-Been-Achieved

The nice thing will be reading about the final algorithms.. we've actually known most of the details of it since the authors are academics and published papers on their algorithms.. But it will be interesting to hear how they squeezed out the last drops of performance.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Latest FARR Release v2.107.04 beta - Sep 23, 2012
« Last post by mouser on June 26, 2009, 07:20 PM »
minor update:

Version 2.67.01 - June 26th, 2009
  • [BugFix] Pressing * on numpad was ignored if you had the "launch with numpad option set"
  • [MinorFeature] Plugins can now call resolve:filename to have FARR fixup the location of a file if the drive letter has changed.
  • [MinorFeature] Toolbar buttons that try to perform a restartsearch by invoking the FindAndRunRobot.exe are now simply passed along directly to the running process.'
  • [MinorFeature] Toolbar button links are now resolved if they refer to files whose drive letters have changed (portable use).
  • [BugFix] Calling setsearch and window.show from a plugin was causing hidden window to appear but search text to be ignored.  Hopefully the fix won't break anything -- let me know if it does.

Would it be ok for it to show the print preview dialog that has to be confirmed when print is triggered automatically, instead of sending to the printer instantly?  Would you prefer it not to?

embarassingly, i can't remember if i implemented this yet.
sc does let you set up folders to quickly move screenshots to on demand from Move menu, and it has a new ability to file older screenshots by subfolders based on dates, again on demand from Move menu.

what you are asking for though has been requested before, and i will add it if i havent already.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: In Search of A Shutdown/Reboot/Hibernate App
« Last post by mouser on June 25, 2009, 08:51 AM »
As lanux suggested, i took the nircmd alias pack made by jgpaiva for FARR, and converted it to a LaunchBar Commander "tool pack".

With this tool pack/addon, you can now easily add a nircmd submenu to your launchbar from the configuration tree that has nircmd buttons like Reboot, Standby, Shutdown, Screensaver, etc.

Requires the not-yet-released cutting edge version of LaunchBar Commander that will be released in the next day or so.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: hamNotes (A FARR2 Plugin by hamradio)
« Last post by mouser on June 25, 2009, 12:26 AM »
One realllly nice feature of hamnotes is:

The note file is XML.
That is important because it means you can easily import your notes into another program, or export from another program into hamnotes, index your notes with a desktop search tool, or do large scale search+replace in a text editor.

Next up is a feature that will let you pack these "pre-configured" commandline tools and their menu helpers in a way that they can easily be installed and added to users toolbars through the GUI, like plugins.

done -- will be in next release.  People can now pack helper tools along with custom submenus to use them.  These tool packs are placed in a users "Tools" directory, and after that users can add such submenus/tools to their launch bars easily through the gui tree config:

WOOT!!!!!!!

congratulations ham and thank you.
I've been begging for a plugin like this almost since plugin ability was added to farr in the first place!

this would actually now that i think about it be a PERFECT use for what i wrote about in this post: https://www.donation....msg168456#msg168456

the Nircmd commandline tool can do this, and it would be perfect for someone to make a nircmd "pack" for LBC that added menu items for it.

if no one else does it by this weekend i will give it a try.

that's really interesting.. looking back at the old post nod5 points to, i find that i can get the black effect IFF i configure some non-0 transparency for FARR.. very strange.. ok well it looks like we have some clues.. and most importantly i can reproduce at least something like what is being described.

dan, not to beat a dead horse, but can i just confirm from you that v2.61 does not have this problem, even with EXACT SAME settings, plugins, etc. (i.e. if you just replace the exe)? the only reason i really want to confirm this is that otherwise i'll spend a day chasing up the wrong tree.

Nod5, what OS are you using? can you do the test for me and back up your FindAndRunRobot settings file .ini and delete it and remove any plugins and see if the problem persists?

I don't get the black screen so i need some help figuring out what triggers this.

would it be possible to ask you to try, if you don't mind, v2.66.01 with a completely clean farr install with no plugins and the default configuration settings..

(with win7 the findandrunrobot config ini file will be in your documents subdirectory).

i just want to make sure we are comparing apples to apples here, and that the problem happens with a clean out of the box farr, when the only thing that changes between what has the bug and doesnt is the 2.66 exe vs. the 2.61 exe.

the face that it doesnt happen on 2.61.01 but reliably happens with 2.66 means it must be something simple to fix.
if you don't mind i'd like to send you 2.63.01 if i can find it, to further help me narrow down when the change was made that started this problem.
